This was our third visit at this home and it was just as amazing as the first two. You cannot beat this location! You can do a very nice 6 mile walk along the ocean right from your front door. It is a safe, quiet neighborhood, except when the tsunami siren goes off. The warning siren goes off the first business day of the month. The house is nicely appointed. It has most everything you need to cook at home. It also has a nice variety of beach gear for your use. We look forward to our next stay.
Would highly recommend this property. The oceanfront access directly in front of the house provided wonderful opportunities for snorkeling in the tidal pools. The home itself was immaculately clean. It offered all the amenities you would need for cooking, including thoughtful additions of Ziploc bags, and food storage containers, as well as spices. The washer and dryer were a bonus, which made our two weeks all the more pleasant. The property manager, Jay was just great. He was very attentive and a real treat to visit with.Having lived there for many years, he had great stories and lots of helpful information to share about making our stay pleasant.
Yes. Had a great time talking stories with Jay. Moon sets. Best snorkeling just in front of home. The surrounding environment is #1 for us. The HaleAloha has a cozy feel. I never felt anxious to leave and explore felt at home. The home has everything you need.
We absolutely love it here! It is such a peaceful place. Wake up to the sounds of the ocean and the birds chirping. Beautiful, scenic walks right from your front door. Snorkeling just a short walk down the beach. The house has everything you could need. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, a new bbq and beach accessories. Jay was extremely responsive when we had an issue with the television. And when our flight got canceled they were very gracious. This was our second stay here and we will be back this winter.
Amazing property and location!
Great views very clean we enjoyed our two weeks so close to great beach’s so many turtles
Beautiful sunsets, big sky stars and just a nice place to chill with family.Short drive to many very nice beaches. Good snorkeling just 100 yards to North that others drive to scuba so they can dive it from the public access. Just swim out to the white buoy and be in 30’ of water beyond the breakers. You’ll probably see manta rays.
We had a wonderful two week stay in this home/cottage on the ocean. This is an older home but well kept in a stunning direct oceanfront setting. You can walk the beach and the protected tide pools offer great snorkeling. We enjoyed the abundance of wildlife including countless turtles resting and snorkeling with them was something we will always remeber. The whale watching from this home is incredible. The last night we were there we witnessed a mother whale and her baby both breaching just on the other side of the reef directly in front of us. There was plenty of beach gear for the five of us. We have stayed in over a dozen different locations on the Big Island and this setting cannot be beat. We already have reservations for next year here.
A wonderful home right on the lake ocean .great snorkeling right out your doorstep.House was very clean and had everything we needed - beach chairs , a cooler etc
I 've been to Puako half a dozen times and love it. This is the first time I found a place on the ocean side of the road, and it's a beautiful location. Wonderful views and sunsets! The home was clean and well appointed, and has been updated since it was build in 1957, but it's not quite as wonderful as the pictures suggest.
What a cute old Hawaiian beach house, it fit our needs wonderfully. The hide a bed isn’t super comfortable, we put the kids on it. They were also paving on front of the house 4 out of the 5 days we were there but we understand that is not something that the owners have any control over. We loved this beach house and would definitely return, maybe with 4 people instead of 5. The bikes were an added bonus to ride up and down Puako beach rd
Our 5th time staying there. Another perfectly relaxing time!
Beautiful view , beautiful property! We saw turtles every day! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Beware that without AC the house can get really hot in August. Apart from that very cute house with great sunsets. Very clean and practical. Thanks
We checked in for my birthday and what a place!! Clean, spacious, great views, neighborhood, yard. It was amazing that the second day there, Jay showed up with a newly fixed lounge chair and took another one to be redone, before it even had broken!! Great communication with caretaker. Sorry we were only booked for 5 days! We will definitely be back. Thank you, Jay, for your attention.
Great property and location. Awesome sunsets!
Beautiful property, we fell in love. Thanks to the owners for sharing it with us.
We’ve stayed in various homes in Puako for 23 years. This home/cottage is by far the best of them all. This was our second vacation at this great, clean comfortable home. The view is amazing! Jay was most helpful with plumbing problems being worked on while we were there. Looking forward to next year!
Absolutely loved this place. Old school charm and comfort, quiet location, great weather and fantastic snorkeling right out front.
We were there for 9 days and enjoyed our snorkel in snorkel out accommodations. The house fits in amazingly and it was great to have and indoor outdoor feel. Our whole family had lots of fun. Great space to kid around the ball in the front yard and enjoy space to have a dinner and watch the sunset. The stars were amazing and the beds felt like pillows to sleep on. Jay was an amazing resource to have and helped us have hula lessons right at the property
Loved our stay in this perfect little cottage on the ocean. Great whale watching and lots of turtles in the tide pool. Even though the weather was windy, our vacation location in Puako was the best. Can’t wait to come back!
Loved this house, just the right size for the two of us. Saw whales everyday! Great place to relax in! Would go back in an instant.
The location and setting are superb. The host and local property managers were easy to work with and responsive. The house was well stocked with beach gear. As noted in the listing, this is an older style Hawaiian type beach house. The interior could use updating. The outdoors could use some furniture besides basic chairs and lounges.
Beautiful location on the ocean. A quiet Hawaiian escape. The house has everything you need. whale watching from the comfort of home.
