Perfect location and beautiful, peaceful setting. Easy access to all amenities and area restaurants and attractions. Unit could use a little refresh as another reviewer noted. But otherwise ideal. Princeville is the only place have ever stayed and it continues to be the “quieter” side of the island, less commercialized. HBR employees also very helpful and cordial. Pleasant walk to Hanalei Bay beach. Will return again. Mahalo
overall it worked very well for us. We didn't use the pool, tennis courts, but the restaurants and beach were awesome. Biggest downside was that we could hear everything going on in the upstairs bathroom from our bathroom.
The suite itself was just okay. It didn’t appear that the floor had been swept when we first arrived. The shower handle was loose and the majority of the white bath towels had some staining on them. The coffee pot was also not clean. There were two beach chairs in the closet, which we were happy to see, until we took them out and they were both extremely rusted and one was broken. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were not overly comfortable.
The grounds of the HBR were very nice and had two restaurants that had very good food. Only problem with the restaurants were that they didn’t open until 3:00. One restaurant was closed one day during our weeklong stay but when it was open, it was a very nice place to have a cocktail or go for dinner. They had great live music which we enjoyed and the view of the sunset overlooking the pools was outstanding. The other restaurant was short staffed (a problem throughout the island) so there was often a wait to get a table. The staff that was there was very pleasant though and apologetic for the delays.
We did love the room. There were seveal things that your housekeeping should attend to:The smoke alarm was disconneted and put in closetThe bathroom sink drained very very slowthe flickering light i the hallway needs to be fixed. Thanks!!
Location of Hanalei Bay Resort was fantastic! Gorgeous views, walk to a small beach with great snorkeling. The room itself was fine but needs some TLC and amenities.

Room was cute and functional with great views! Great location in Princeville and the resort was very nice with a beautiful swimming pool and good restaurants! We will be back! ❤️
The property exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and spacious, and the amenities of the resort were great. We were able to walk down to the beach for sunset and take advantage of the nicely manicured pool and hot tub area.
Ideal location for views of Hanalei Bay, closest stay to the beach patch, right by ice and laundry. The room itself smelled very good and was very clean. I loved the artwork, comfortable bed, and nice shower. The tv is smart and there is a small coffee machine and mini fridge. Mahalo for the opportunity to stay here!
We were pleasantly surprised by this unit. The pictures honestly don’t do it justice. The unit is a very private, quiet, 2nd floor, corner unit with a view of the majestic mountains behind Hanalei as well as a peek of Hanalei Bay. The unit was very clean and well appointed for a studio unit including beach chairs and a small cooler. We appreciated the mini fridge and coffee pot and since we knew ahead of time it wasn’t a full kitchen, we planned our meals accordingly. We also liked that the comfortable bed had a quilt. Many times this isn’t the case in Hawaii and we end up feeling cold at night. The Hanalei Bay Resort is a classic, Polynesian style resort that feels very inviting the minute you arrive. The pool and spa are wonderful for all ages and is a short walk from the unit. The path to the beach is also a few steps away from the unit which we found desirable and great for our morning walks. We ate at the Happy Talk restaurant at the resort twice, both times we really enjoyed the food, service and ambience. For an exceptional upscale experience, we recommend dining at 1 Hotel next to the Hanalei Bay Resort. It’s expensive, but worth the treat! We will definitely check to see if this unit is available next time we are in Princeville! It’s a hidden gem.
The only drawback is the fact that the resort changes a daily parking and there is no other place to park. If you park on the neighborhood street, you will be fined. There is also a daily use fee for the resort. I would have preferred to know this up front before booking and not at the time we were given instructions by Vacasa. Also confusing is that we rented the unit through VRBO, but Vacasa is the manager, and The Hanalei Bay Resort checks you into the unit.
It would be helpful if the owner would describe this in their description.
