The stay was great overall the pros sure outweigh any cons. The place was tidy and well cared for. It is a slightly older place so age showed in some places. But they did a good job keeping it clean and the personal touches are cute. Pro’s - Communication, Location, ease of accessCons- big home being built that blocks the ocean view & spiders in downstairs bathroom. (Totally get we are in a tropical place.) We had a great time. The trip was amazing! The house was just what we were looking for, a home base that was comfortable, clean and well maintained. Everything worked as expected, many of the features added to the house were geared towards our activities. Outdoor shower with warm water, gas grill, large refrigerator, pots and pans, hair driers, towels for shower and beach, high-capacity laundry, beach chairs, umbrella they were all greatly appreciated. The garden throughout the property provided privacy, and the porches were very spacious.The Kepuhi Beach was just a short walk from the house, it's not really a swimming beach, but we enjoyed it all the same. Plus, it was a short walk to Tunnels Beach etc... sunrises and evening walks were also fantastic. We had full moons the first couple of days, and we stayed long enough to see the milky way as well. The Northshore was our favorite area by far. Hanalei was our favorite town, Big Save Market had everything that we needed, and Princeville is just down a little more. We loved the scenery, the one lane bridges, it all just seemed to be old school which is what we were looking for. As you can tell we loved the location... we did some excursions on the east and south coasts as well, but nothing seems as Hawaiian as the NorthShore. This house is really close to the Ha'ena State Park and Beach, and it is a beautiful area and is less populated.We would highly recommend this location!

Plenty of space to run around and not too many things I was concerned with for baby proofing. We all had our own bathrooms and space which was nice. The house came equipped with beach towels, chairs, an umbrella and coolers. The washer and dryer were great and we used them daily. The location is of course perfect. Just steps from some of the best snorkeling on Kauai. Evenings were spent on the lanai and late at night the star gazing was out of this world. It’s such a magical place. I hope to have another chance to come back again.

We absolutely loved staying at Hale Alealea! The home was clean, welcoming and very comfortable. The grounds were lush and well cared for. We felt tucked away into our own private paradise. Check in/check out was super easy and we were well taken care of. Highlights: The wrap-around porch was perfect for meals and relaxing. The home is charmingly decorated and has an authentic Hawaiian feel. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes/tools. We loved the outside shower and bbq. The home provided plenty of linens, bathroom supplies and beach towels. Proximity to Tunnels Beach was so special and we also loved walking across the street to the local shoreline, even though it wasn't suitable for swimming. The location is remote but that provides a lot of privacy and we enjoyed exploring the immediate area. The Waipa farmers market was really special! Lowlights: A few things are a little rundown - the knob on the oven didn't work properly (you could tell it had been recently glued on) so we couldn't use the oven. But we were able to use the toaster oven so it wasn't a big enough deal to complain. One couch is very dirty and soiled so they have spread an old bed sheet over it. Seems like they should invest in a couch cover or some clean furniture. The listing didn't tell us that beach chairs, umbrellas and a cooler were provided, so we wasted money renting them from our car provider. This location is pretty remote so be prepared for lots of driving if you plan to explore the island. All that said, we truly did have a lovely time at Hale Alealea and would stay there again in a hearbeat! Mahalo for sharing this charming home with my family. Aloha!

Overall very good, The house fit our needs perfectly with a great separate space. One problem was no windows in the back of the house so rain came in a lot making the two back bedrooms unusable. We had to sleep on the couch several nights and dry our clothes.

We had a nice time and really appreciated working with Kauai vacation rentals. The house was well located and pretty well set up. My only comments and feedback are around some pieces of furniture - couches and dressers that seemed actually dirty and in rough shape for a nice house (orange couch in living room facing TV felt gross to sit on, dresser in two bedrooms was broken). If you were to replace a few of these dingier pieces of furniture and improve in house cleaning a bit, it would be really nice. I might also offer cleaning during the week for an additional price. We didn't have great weather but that's no one's fault.

We were disappointed in the condition of the home. The location was lovely. Everything needs help and updating. When we arrived the downstairs shower had 2 old bandaids laying on the floor. Lighting is poor throughout , especially in the bedroom on the lower level. Furniture is crummy and our mattress poor. . Dishes and glassware are total random. The kitchen garbage disposal had random items in it that we had to remove. The outdoor furniture / cushions are old and in terrible shape. All the bathrooms need refurbishment. Toilet downstairs does not flush well and There are no ceiling fans in any of the 3 bathrooms. Finally there is a roof fan on the main floor that is VERY loud and turns on when at sunrise.I am sorry but for the money we paid we expected much better.

Hale Alealea was an amazing spot. We were two families of four and had lots of space. The kitchen had everything you need with a great BBQ on the deck which also features a great dining area. Haena Beach was a very short drive, not too bad to walk if you wanted to. Likewise, a very quick jaunt to Hanalei. Very quiet neighbourhood (except for the roosters!). Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Our family of 7 had a wonderful time. The four bedrooms were perfect and having three bathrooms was a bonus. The house was well stocked with soaps and towels for the bathrooms and the kitchen had everything we needed, plus little extras like coffee, tea, basic spices. The short walk to the beach was fantastic for those evening sunsets. The yard was very private. Everyone in our party enjoyed our stay.
Our favorite place was sitting on the lanai and listening to the waves on the beach. I wish there had been six comfortable lounge chairs. There was only one. Everything else was perfect. Our rental was equipped with everything we could need including spices, sugar, flour, salt and pepper, we assume left by other renters. Bathrooms had shampoo and creme rinse too. We would go back to the same house in a New York minute. loved it.

Hale Alealea is in my favorite neighborhood In all the world...In Haena, on the north shore of Kauai. This was my third visit to the house. It’s spacious, clean, and well equipped, only a block from the beach and two blocks from a good restaurant. Flowers and soft tropical air abound. A minus for some didn’t apply to me...I had no trouble sleeping through the roosters but a light sleeper might be perturbed when they go off at 4 AM.
Very comfortable. An older house and set up well for food preparation and dining which was efficient and could easily accommodate many different interests. Small table by kitchen for breakfast and large table on lanai for lunch and dinner. Plenty of chairs and couches around for heat-of-the-day reading (ie naps). Short walk to lovely beach. Longer walk to snorkle/swim beach. Pleasant neighborhood for after dinner walk. Stroll to quite good restaurant. Ray Kroc once owned this house
