Overall it was a nice stay. The pictures are a little deceiving as the neighbors are VERY close and the property has a lot of big windows. The pictures make it seem more private than it actually is. The late checkout was much appreciated and I’m sure the hot tub was nice, we didn’t actually end up using it
Ocean close!!
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had an amazing stay at this beautiful vacation home in Pahoa. The property was peaceful and quiet—exactly the relaxing vibe we were looking for. The home itself was spotless, comfortable, and surrounded by immaculate landscaping that made the whole setting feel like a private tropical retreat. The hot tub was a huge bonus and quickly became one of our favorite parts of the stay—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The location was great as well, with easy access to both Hilo and Kona while still feeling secluded and restful. After long days of adventuring, it was wonderful to return to such a serene and welcoming space.Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm, comfortable, and rejuvenating getaway on the Big Island. We would absolutely stay here again!
Our recent stay at the Zuki House was far from ideal. While some bugs are expected on an island, the sheer number of insects was excessive, making it difficult to sleep. The lack of adequate air conditioning was a major issue. With only one unit upstairs, our kids' rooms downstairs were uncomfortably hot, even with fans. Leaving windows open for a breeze wasn't an option due to constant road noise and safety concerns with random people roaming the area. The house itself felt "janky" and unclean. We found several areas that hadn't been properly cleaned, despite the “cleaning fee”. Simple things like the front door being obstructed by the washer and dryer, and a dishwasher that wasn't secured to the cabinets, highlighted a lack of maintenance. Finally, the property's remote location made getting around inconvenient.Having stayed in many places across the islands, the Zuki House simply doesn't compare. We wouldn't stay here again. It's perhaps only suitable for those with very low expectations.
House was just as listed. Nice vacation home for the family.
Zuki house is beautiful and just as described. The location is perfect for visiting Volcano National Park because it's only about an hour's drive. A short walk away, there is a park where you can hike and look out over the beautiful cliffs! We loved it and we had no issues with bugs or ants during our stay. The home was beautiful and clean. The hot water heater was not working, and they came and had it replaced immediately. Great service. We loved having the hot tub to relax in the evenings after busy days. The only "quirk" to the house is that there is a lip on every single step heading upstairs, so you have to go up and down the stairs sideways, or it's painful on your feet. A minor inconvenience, and we didn't have to go up and down very often. It was a great experience!
This was a beautiful home with plenty of space for us in the upstairs lofted master and two private rooms below, one for each of our teens. All the surfaces were clean and modern with gorgeous tile and sinks in the bathrooms, and granite in the kitchen. I especially liked the large open kitchen dining and living area. We had sufficient kitchen supplies to prepare and eat our breakfasts and lunches here, but mostly grabbed dinner while we were out touring the area. The upstairs lofted master is only separated from the common space by the staircase and can get very warm during the afternoon. But it cools down fairly well and quickly when using the provided AC or by opening windows at night (when there is a breeze). Bugs can be a problem in Hawaii, but they were controlled well here, especially in comparison to other places we stayed during our trip. You just have to walk past 1 house to reach a community park that’s adjacent to the rocky shoreline. It’s a beautiful view, but not really safe for getting into the water. The more accessible beaches are a 25-45 minute drive away. Carlsmith Beach Park in Hilo is a gem! Proximity to Volcanoes National Park was another big draw. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the home and would be more than happy to stay here again.
The property was gorgeous just a half a block from the ocean and a nice park within a yards from this home not to mention many more located in the neighborhood. The house was renovated beautifully. It has the Hawaiian feel loved it.
Pahoa is very family area and away form the rest. Zulu house is lovely and super clean. Property manager super helpful. Short walk tot he shore.you can see the ocean form the house itself. My only is there are limited foo options and you have to drive 15-20 min. Hilo has good options but that would be 30 min plus drive
Like home away from home. Clean, well appointed, convenient and comfortable. We always felt privileged and peaceful.
The property manager responded to my text very expediently and helped work out my concern. House was very clean, as was the jacuzzi. Also appreciated not having to deal with any keys-made check-in and check-out so much easier
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Nice house. NO BEACH. NO AC. NO SECURITY because you must leave the windows open at night. Big glass doors with NO covering. Entire place open to view. Remote location VERY limited cell service.
Awesome place to stay! The check in process was super easy. The home and area are beautiful. We would definately stay here again.
Very nice location and neighborhood, close to ocean.
Such a great place to reunite with family and have a place to relax as we ventured out to Volcano and other Big Island sites. Thank you!
We had a lovely stay at Zuki House on the Hilo side of the Big Island. This was our first trip to Hawaii, and it was a wonderful choice for meeting up with friends from Europe. The accommodations were comfortable, well-appointed, and provided everything we needed for a relaxing and memorable visit. The sunrises from the property were stunning, and the sounds of frogs, rain, and waves crashing added a magical touch to the experience. It was such a peaceful way to start and end each day. The property was clean, and the management team was helpful and responsive whenever we had questions. Zuki House made a fantastic base for exploring the Hilo side of the island, and we’re leaving with so many wonderful memories. Thank you for hosting us and making our first trip to Hawaii so enjoyable!
Aloha! We had a wonderful time back on the islands. What a beautiful quiet place for our family to reunite. Plenty of room, all amenities, very clean and really nice neighbors. We will be back to stay here again.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We adored the Zuki House in Pahoa on the Big Island! The modern design is so refreshing, just like the photos. The covered lanai is the perfect place to hang out after a soak in the hot tub. Our family of 4 felt totally at home in the quiet neighborhood. There are flowering trees and plants everywhere and the ocean park is less than a block away! It is Paradise! Thank you, we really hope to come again.
The Zuki house was a beautiful place for us to stay. Very clean, easy drive to our destinations, and a beautiful scenery to relax. Thank you Zuki house for making us feel at home
Rating Details: The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house is just fantastic. It’s a bit isolated about 15 min drive from Pāhoa.
Nice house and accurate description; about 30 minutes from Hilo, hour from volcanoes Pahoa is a nice place and quiet.
The home provided more than enough room for 3 friends and would be comfortable for a family with kids, too. A couple parks are well intermingled in the neighborhood which is quiet and a good location to walk, stargaze, and sleep well. Hilo is accessible but not too close, the Sunday Maku'u Market is a must, and the proximity to the ocean provided a relaxing vibe.
Manager was very accommodating. Place was clean. Great little yard. Loved the fact that could take 2 min walk in the morning to watch the sun rise off the water.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was easy to find and in a nice and quiet area of the big island. The house had everything we needed, extra towels, shampoo etc and other essentials which we appreciated because another rental we stayed in on Kauai had nothing provided! The deck was lovely for morning coffee and we used the hot tub a couple of times. Walking to the ocean was wonderful but there is not a beach, just black lava rock cliffs so you cannot swim or get in the water here but it’s beautiful to watch the waves break. The house is far from any shops and Pahoa is super run down and not visitor friendly at all. We went to one place for breakfast which was delicious but we all agreed we wouldn’t visit this island again. It rained every afternoon which we didn’t really mind and we visited in March so this might be seasonal. The house itself was wonderful the only weird thing was the cameras outside, one faces the outdoor shower, a bit strange. Not sure if crime is an issue but I’ve never stayed somewhere with security cameras before.
Me and my friend both enjoyed the stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Excellent!h House was as described, very clean - property management was responsive to requests. Check-in was easy. Quiet location.
Such a beautiful house. All amenities we needed and more. Property manager and owner were both very responsive when we had a little hiccup with the hot tub — it was fixed and running within 20 minutes after we reached out. It was warm upstairs (January) in the evenings but stayed comfortable with the portable AC. Would love to stay again.
Nice house with nice views. We enjoyed the parks in the area. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Terrific place to stay. The owner lives next door and is very helpful. The living area was very enjoyable. I enjoyed reading on the back porch in the warm Hawaiian breeze. Perfect! The only drawback was the first floor bedroom did not have a queen size bed as noted. The master bedroom in the loft is great, but there is little privacy from the people downstairs. This is better for one couple or a small family.
