Please note: As desirable as this property may be due to it's charm and remarkable location, this is not a hotel. We keep the property as clean and secure as possible but please understand that this home is located on the beach in a natural, tropical environment. Although we have an exterminator on call, guests may encounter insects as we do not spray insecticides rampantly the way the hotels do. If you love the sounds of the ocean and the beauty of the great outdoors, you won't find any place better! But if you prefer a climate-controlled, manicured, hotel-like environment, this may not be the place for you.

Very unique setup! It felt a bit like a camp as we had 3 separate buildings and then one building had a kitchen/living area, but bathroom doors were outside of main living area. We were slightly shocked to find several geckos living in the kitchen when we got there at night! This is a VERY open air rental with NO AC, so I must have missed that info when booking. There was a scorpion in the bathroom and I did contact the owner about having someone come to spray for that and she did. After renting several VRBOs this is the slowest responses I have received, even though this was a holiday season, a little surprised at that when I was concerned about geckos and a scorpion! It was clean, just older and not quite what we expected for the high price we paid. The location is nice, but several people took over the beach on the property so it isn’t your own beach while renting and you will need to put chairs out to save a spot.I would recommend the owner update the instruction book for detailed checkout instructions as they were missing and I had to ask. This is a nice place to have a family vacation, just a little too open air for those with allergies and bug fears. It felt a little weird not being able to lock things up well as it’s so open and you really can’t use the bathroom at night without going outside to walk to one at night if your room doesn’t have one attached.Cool concept for the right families who aren’t bothered by those things.Had Some nice touches like games/cards!
Great location for beach, off the beaten path for other activities. Access is unique and more unusual after hours, requiring dealing with a gate and gate lock! However, house is comfortable and secluded. Guests wake to nature sounds, birds and chickens (roosters) each morning.
Coming from New York City, it took me a minute to adjust to the indoor/outdoor living, but this was a perfect place for our family to gather for winter break, including grandparents and kids. Hearing the sounds of nature and the ocean at night was magical, and being able to walk down to the beach during the day was great. Leilani was a great host, responded quickly to our many questions which made it easy for us to settle in. The natural beauty surrounding the property is stunning, and we loved the easy access to Beach 69 and Hapuna Beach. We loved our stay at the Treadwell House!
We stayed with my 3 sons and their families. This house is in an amazing location. You see the ocean from the house but are set back far enough that you don’t see the beach goers nor do they see you. The main living area is open spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms are basic and comfortable as are the bathrooms. If you need marble countertops and high end fixtures this is not the place for you. The house has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Snorkeling was wonderful, sunsets were wonderful. The beach is beautiful. We had a wonderful stay.
Perfect for 4 couples or a family! Nice shaded lawn and porch for outdoor dining. The house is rustic but has everything that you need. The beach is mostly shaded but perfect for watching sunsets!
This property was perfect for my large family and the location right on the beach is spectacular. We would certainly stay here again. The appliances are quite old and could use a refresh, but otherwise very well equipped for our needs.
This is a wonderful spot to enjoy Hawaii. The home has a great layout and is a very nice place to enjoy.
We had a lovely time at the Treadwell House. Its proximity to the water and wonderful lanai were highlights. We would happily stay here again and plan to do so.
Open air living area. Beautiful views and super easy access to a beautiful beach and snorkeling.
This is our second time staying at this house And we Love it. This wouldn’t be the house for people who like air conditioning and marble Bathrooms. We love it because it is rustic but very comfortable and right On the beach. They got another small refrigerator which was very helpful. The beds and linens are comfortable. The property manger is very helpful and accommodating.
