Turtle Bay 1br/1 bath condo - Kuilima Estates West

We had a wonderful time - very close to the Ritz and Turtle Bay. Snorkeling and beach time. The place was clean and airy. Wish we could have stayed longer,

We had a great stay!

Perfect for a weekend getaway with kids. Nothing fancy but had everything we needed for a quick getaway. Also was walking distance to the hotel and nearby attractions. Gate code is time sensitive and doesn’t work until check in time which is good to know in case you arrive early and can’t get in like we did. But host is very communicative ahead of time if with additional questions. Netflix available as well. Floor was dirty/sticky but otherwise was clean and tidy. Looking forward to staying again sometime soon!

We arrived, looked around, and left. Within an hour of arrival we decided we couldn't sleep there — and walked away from our full week's rental fees rather than spend a night in this condition. This seems to be a neglected property. When we raised our concerns with the host, we were told the property's condition was acceptable and advertised. But, the property is in serious disrepair. Pillows were flat, heavily stained, and clearly very old. Pillowcases were stained as well. The curtains (looked like repurposed shower curtains) had visible mold spots. The old refrigerator was stained from the stove. The dishwasher doesn't work (we were told this 2 days before arrival). Baseboards were cracked. Closet doors were dirty. Trim throughout needs paint badly.The bedroom closet contained more dirty pillows and what appeared to be cast-offs from previous guests. The bathroom vanity still held previous guests' personal toiletries — not fresh provisions, just someone else's leftovers.There was no welcome information of any kind — no local area info to guide guests. No water or small welcome provisions. For a full-week rental, that's a pretty low bar to miss. The place had been cleaned — I don't blame the cleaner. The problem is the property itself, which no amount of cleaning can fix. We requested and were denied a refund by the host despite providing photos. We hope other guests are spared this experience.

Great location

Overall a solid choice for a vrbo. My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had a great time! An affordable price for what you get - nothing crazy but everything you need. Host is nice and replies pretty quickly.

If you like a clean place do not rent this place! It was dirty and everything is very old. The futon aka couch was so old the springs were ready to pop through the material. The refrigerator had rust in it. The place was listed with air conditioner,,washer and dryer. When the check in process message came it was a long message with all these do’s and don's. If you use the air conditioner and dryer too much you might be charged extra. All these special instructions on how to open certain doors and cabinets that really should have been repaired because they’re so old they didn’t work right. He wanted the shower door squeegeed and I don’t have a problem with that but the door was already so decayed it was a waste of time. There was a ceiling fan and stand fan in the living room. A ceiling fan in the bedroom, stand fan and window air conditioner on the floor. There was a sliding door and the screen was off and leaning up against it. When I received this message I said whoa that’s a lot and had I been in the cancel window I’d cancel. He claimed it was a disclaimer and had to do that. We brought our own towels and all his cleaning lady had to do was change the sheets. We did not have one roll of TP and he said his awesome cleaner must have forgot. We never were given any TP. Everything I confronted him about he had an excuse that favored him. Closing message he asked me to give him a good review. Definitely not! I usually don’t do reviews but this was necessary.

It was exactly as described and was perfect for our stay.

The condo was very dirty. There were dead roaches in the pots and pans and the floor was so nasty. Our feet were getting black from walking around barefoot. The amount of dust was just gross. I don’t mind that it’s not updated but I expect it to be atleast clean. We travel a lot and stay in vrbos all the time and the amount of instructions and rules for this property was crazy. The dishwasher can’t be used at all and told us to minimally use dryer and electricity or we would be charged extra. Also the owner would not work with us at all as we were arriving three days after the catastrophic floods the north shore had in March. We tried to shorten our stay two nights to stay away while they recovered but he wouldn’t work with us at all. Only positive is the location.

We were not told that the gate code would not work before 3:00pm had to get out of line to let others pass (we were 30min early coming from Waikīkī) stove burners do not fit the stove need a flat solid surface to cook on. Dish washer not functional, the toaster looked like it came from goodwill 20 years ago. Futon is is not good furniture for the living room.(to low and hard to get out of. To much paint and other stuff stored under cabnets.very nice new cabnets. Clean and just functional. Good location nice pool.

Great stay! Friendly responsive host. Full kitchen with everything my family needed. Very reasonable price, hope it doesn’t change. It made staying in paradise an affordable reality unlike the other overpriced condos here. Close walk to all the beaches and tidepool. Thank you again!!

Great host and a great stay

We loved our stay at Kuilima condos. Though the condo could use some updating, we preferred the significant discounted rate provided compared to other condos in this complex. The grounds are a truly tropical experience with access to beautiful gardens, a pool area and to a beach you can always swim in even when the surf is big. The condo was supplied with many things we needed for our stay.

Great location, very clean. We had friends staying at turtle bay resort so it was nice to walk just five minutes to the resort. We ate at lei leis a few nights. We love Ian the owner. Great food!! We will be back again next year and will stay again here if it's available. :)

Did not enjoy the cockroaches, especially the large ones. The towels were not nice.

The property was in a great location, very close to Turtle Bay and surrounding towns. We weren’t in the condo much (why be there when you can be on the beach and explore the North Shore?), which is why we didn’t mind the following small annoyances:-Hot at nights, even with the screen doors open, fans going and the small a/c unit on (which never got cold, just kinda cool),-Only three small rolls of TP for a family for 6 days (we had to buy more), one garbage bag for the kitchen and one for the bathroom (we had to buy more), only one kitchen rag, no laundry soap (even though it was requested that we throw the towels in the washer when we checked out)Other than those issues, we loved our stay and realized it’s not a perfect place, but was a lot cheaper than most other condos in that area. Mahalo!

The location of this accomodation was beyond our expectations for our dream holiday to Hawaii. The owner was so helpful and made our stay very memorable, even when we checkout out late due to a booking error he was so kind and respectful to deal with and I

The accommodations were acceptable. The floor was not clean. The fridge is rusty. Do's and don'ts are off putting as well as nickel and diming on the hydro for example. Some of the issues (stove element) were mentioned in reviews almost 3 years ago. He says he's doing repairs and renos but clearly nothing is happening. You get what you pay for. Don't expect luxury accommodations for the low price. Ending on a positive note, it was a gated community and there were lots of amenities. Location is great for covering a lot of Oahu outside of Honolulu.

The apartment has a lot of space and many equipment like in the kitchen and beach stuff. It is great located. Unfortunately the sheets of our pillows weren't really clean at our arrival. After texting and speaking to Kyle at the phone he didn't give a solution and said the pillows are washed and we should not expext a luxury resort. We think it is normal to expect clean sheets in every hotel/hostel/etc. We took our towels over the pillows to feel comfortable. The check in was flexible and easy. There a many many many instructions about the apartment, what is allowed and not, what is broken and should not be used, what costs extra... some things could be more taken care of or repaired. It seems that there isn't lot of interest to invest in things. The dishwaser must not be used at our stay and is going to be exchanged only when new cabinets are bought.. the light in the bathroom turns off every 3 minutes.. all in all it was a good stay but it could be improved for the future guests.

Great locaton to visit NorthShore.

Great area, near many activities, as well as a beautiful walk to Turtle Bay. Few minutes drive to beaches, food trucks, Foodland, Polynesian Culture Centre.Beautiful stay

Price reflected the quality of the property, definitely in need of an update.

This VRBO rental had some positive aspects, such as its proximity to the beaches and being located in a secure gated community. However, our overall experience was extremely disappointing due to the condition of the property and the host’s behavior.The property itself is rundown and in need of significant repairs. During our stay, insects got into our food, which was very unpleasant. Additionally, the rental was poorly stocked—there was only one roll of toilet paper for our entire stay, and no bath soap or body wash was provided.The host was the biggest issue. Two days before check-in, he sent us an overwhelming list of strict rules, including not staining the towels, not running the air conditioner during the day, and limiting laundry use. He also double-booked our last day and pressured us to leave early, which we reluctantly did.To make matters worse, after our stay, the host attempted to charge us an extra 3 per day for electricity, claiming we exceeded his estimated usage. He also repeatedly hassled my wife about a payment she had already made, forcing her to send multiple screenshots as proof.While the location is great, the poor condition of the property and the host’s unprofessional behavior made this a terrible experience. I would strongly recommend avoiding this rental—it’s not worth the stress and frustration.

It was a pretty good stay. Great location and the place is clean. Just wish the screendoors were not broken so we could have opened those a lot more easily. Other things need to be fixed as well that the owner is aware of like the dishwasher.

This property was disappointing in several ways. The Dish Washer didnt work. The stove top was dirty and thappliances l couch we broken down.

Our stay was wonderful, the condo was as advertised, it's a great location, and the host was very helpful and responsive. Would stay again for sure!
