The chalet was magnificent. It was exactly as the owners stated. Being in the forest was awesome. All your views are of lush plants, some bearing fruit which the owners said we could pick and so many flowering plants. The breezes coming through the house kept it comfortable. Coffee each morning on the deck or upper balcony was a welcome time, seeing the sunrise come over the trees while listening to the birds was a bonus we did not anticipate. The upper balcony provides for a great yoga area. Being on the east side, it was less congested as it is near Lahaina, which to us was fine. The beaches were nice, a little windy but hardly anyone was on them. Highlights of the beaches included lots of Green Sea Turtles basking in the sun. The kitchen was well appointed and spacious enough for two to prepare food. For couples wanting a romantic getaway, the two-person shower and hot tub are nice features of the home. We enjoyed the hot tub after a day of hiking in the park. We liked this location as it was situated on the road to Hana and close to Paia for food supplies and restaurants. Steve and Jette are perfect hosts. Very attentive to your needs and have plenty of gear to choose from when you decide to head to the beach. The chalet affords so much privacy to anyone who wants to feel secluded but not too far from civilization.
Steve and Yettah were the best hosts! They have an amazing property with breathtaking views. Everything about our stay was perfect. Highly recommend!
The property is beautiful and the Chalet was cozy, relaxing, and private. The hosts were amazing. The communications between were prompt and friendly. They even picked us fresh fruit from the property and set them out for us while we were out exploring. The property is located away from the tourist areas near a nice little town with excellent restaurants and shopping. We were able to explore the true beauty of Maui and all the hot spots in Maui. We highly recommend this property if you are coming to Maui. Private, relaxing, and beautiful! Thank you Steve & Jette for all your hospitality!
Everything is accurately described and communication with the owners is easy and prompt. The home is beautifully crafted and comfortably furnished. The hot tub is a wonderful perk. Keeping the kitchen clean is important, as with any rainforest rental.beaten path
We are annual visitors to Hawaii as our daughter has lived here for 11 years and is in Haiku. We love the beaches but prefer the solitude that the rain forest gives and have gravitated there the last few years. If you want to experience Maui in its natural glory, away from the hustle and bustle of beach traffic, and you want to stay in a beautiful setting with peace and solitude as your goal, this is a great choice. The chalet is not only beautiful but it sits on 4 acres of property that give you a great view of island life The hosts are amazing, and welcoming and so happy to share their home with travelers that really want to experience Maui Mahalo to Steve and Jette for the time we spent there and also for the parting gift they made for us. A truly unique experience and one we will want to experience again
Steve and Jette were amazing hosts! They met us at the house at 11 pm to show us around and helped carry in our luggage and groceries! They downloaded Tubi for us so we could watch the Super Bowl! To top it off they drove our passports to us at the airport after we forgot them in the safe. No other hosts have been so accommodating! The house itself was clean and well stocked. It is in a pretty remote, quite location in the rain forest. Do not rent a low profile car if you decide to stay here. The speed bumps on the road to the house are extreme and we bottomed out several times, even going slow.As much as I hate to say anything negative about this place, because of the amazing hosts, people need to be aware of a few things. The bugs and geckos are a part of your stay. Inside and outside. If you're ok with that, you will be fine. There isn't an "ocean view." Maybe there was at some point before the vegetation grew up, but there isn't now. The "air conditioner" is a window unit in the downstairs bedroom. We were there in February so it didn't matter to us but it might in the hotter months. Maybe it's cool in the jungle all year long. I don't know. Something to consider. All in all we had a great time and if these things don't bother you and if you like peace and quiet I would recommend this house.
If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, this is the place to go!
Our whole family loved our stay at the Maui Chalet. The grounds are beautiful, with numerous flowering trees and plants, several delicious fruit plants (starfruit and brazilian cherry were in season for us!), and a peekaboo view of the ocean. The house itself is open, airy, and very well appointed. The walk in tiled shower, outside hot tub, and huge loft were particular standouts. Hosts Jette and Steve were gracious and helpful, but never intrusive. We cannot recommend this place enough. If you want some privacy in your own little jungle, a head start on the road to Hana, or just something that is not another cookie cutter condo this is the place for you!
First of all Steve and Jetta are wonderful Hosts. When you arrive at the property you drive thru a wonderful tunnel of flowers and greenery. It is just beautiful. Steve and Jetta are there to meet you and answer any questions that you have. The property is has lush greenery and flowers, you wake up to the sounds of birds, it is very magical. The home is very roomy and has everything you need. There are fresh cut flowers thru out the home. I have already recommended the Maui Chateu to friends, and hopefully will be staying there again in the future. Thanks Steve and Jetta
My parents came to visit us for a couple of weeks here in Haiku and needed a spacious place to stay. We were lucky enough to find Steve and Jette’s beautiful cabin tucked away in the Haiku forest. To say the cabin and property is beautiful and peaceful is an understatement. Steve and Jette were also amazing hosts and it was easy to communicate with them whenever we needed. If you are looking to find peace and tranquility then I suggest spending your time here, we will definitely be coming back.
