Rusty Sunrise by Alekona Kauai: 3BR Home Walking Distance to the Grand Hyatt and Shipwreck Beach

We loved our stay! Wish we could stay longer. The place is walking distance to the Grand Hyatt, shipwreck beach and poipu beach (longer walk). Management was very responsive. We can’t wait to come back!

Great property overall, though there are some things that are starting to show some wear. The grill is a low-end model and is missing half its heat deflectors, so it does not grill evenly at all unfortunately. And, numerous windows either do not fully shut or do not properly open. Finally, most similar properties I've stayed at often will stock or maintain a small pantry of a couple shelves of very basic condiments and spices that are either provided or carried forward from other guests (provided sanitary and unexpired of course). Not the case with this property, so even little things that would never be used up in a week will need to be purchased at the store. Overall, would stay again as it's a great location and a good layout for two families with young kids. Though, the grill needs to be repaired or simply upgraded.

I would definitely recommend this place as it was very roomy and clean. Plenty of bathrooms, provided towels and amenities that I did not have time to take advantage of.All family members loved their stay!Only negative is the upstairs loft area did not have air conditioning (all bedrooms had AC), but the fans helped. Owner was quick to relay any information or issues with stay.

Amazing place, good hosts, just wish there was AC in all rooms. Did get pretty hot at night.

Home suited our family of nine very nicely. Good location to beaches. Plenty of outdoor lanai space. Our compliments to the management for bringing in a fridge when the home fridge failed the day of our arrival. Also very grateful for complimentary late check-out on our last day!

This was a great spot. Convenient walk to the beach and loved all the beach supplies that were available. My family had a wonderful time!

Large, well equipped home in a great location with easy access to beaches. Good selection of beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers etc. The main fridge broke during our visit but the management company was quick to respond and got it fixed on the same day. The den/4th bedroom should not really be marketed as a 4th bedroom. No AC and the sleeper couch was not comfortable enough for an adult to pass as a Bedroom. The home really needs AC throughout to make the upstairs area next to the master usable. I would be aware of this if renting in the summer. Other than that, it’s a great home with a beautiful and comfortable main living space for everyone to congregate.

This property is perfect for a large family. We had 6 adults and 4 kids under 7. Everyone had their own bedrooms and space when needed. The enclosed yard and covered patio were wonderful. The house has everything you need for a day at the beach- beach towels for everyone, beach chairs, beach toys for kids, boogie boards, snorkels and masks, and a cooler with wheels. There is also an extra fridge in the garage and a high chair! The kitchen is well equipped. The only thing not there that would be useful is an Instant pot. The house is well maintained and has comfortable beds. It's in a quiet neighborhood and a close walk to the beach and pool. We had a great time and if we go to Kauai again we would definitly stay again.

The house was great for our extended family. We all had our own space and there was plenty of room for 7 of us. The private Lanai was perfect. We like the solar powered realistic tiki torches so much that we bought some for our home. Brennecke beach was our favorite for boggie boarding with Poipu beach right nect to it was good for swimming and snorkeling. A short drive to Lawa'i beach was the best snorkeling on the south shore. This house provides plenty of extra snorkel gear and flippers, boggie boards, umbrellas, beach chairs and even surf boards. Much appreciated! Poipu is our favorite location on the island. Very short beautiful walk to shipwreck beach which the waves there kicked our butts a few times. Be sure to walk up the trail to the cliffs for a great view and pictures! For those who are curious about the beds and rooms: Downstairs: 1) A master suite with its own bathrooom, AC, private Lanai. 2) A second bedroom with AC and acess to the main Lanai and bathroom right next to the bedroom which is very much like havong its own bathroom. 3) We used the downstairs office with a pull out sofa as a bedroom. This room worked fairly good and satyed nice and cool with fans and windows open. It has a bathroom adjacent to to and there is another half bath not far away also. Upstairs is a bit unusual: 4) Another master suite with an even larger bathroom and a second floor balcony and AC in the very large bedroom. 5) Two additional single beds in the common area.

Rusty Sunrise is perfect for a large group. We had 9 and all fit comfortably. One of my daughter's commented that it felt like a mini-resort. The location is great-walking distance to Shipwreck Beach, and very quick drive to Brennecke and Poipu Beaches. The house has tons of beach toys, chairs, umbrellas, etc for use. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious, and made cooking and BBQ'g easy. We especially loved the huge lanai, with multiple outdoor tables and seating areas, and a lawn for the kids to play on. Even during multiple days of rain, we were able to hang out outdoors! Perfect home for our group.

This is a beautiful property. Very quiet and private. Clean and well taken care of. Looks exactly like photos. Close walk to the beach. Would definitely stay here again.
