The Space:
Fresh 2025 updates give this three-bedroom condo a clean, comfortable feel, from the remodeled baths and new flooring to the lighting, paint, and furnishings. The light-filled living room has a cozy sectional, Bose stereo, and large TV, then opens to a sunny lanai with garden and pool views. New stainless appliances, including a French-door refrigerator, make the kitchen ready for easy group meals.
Guest Access:
Guests at Makahuena enjoy access to the communal pool and hot tub, plus garden grounds throughout this quiet Poipu complex. Grab rails and an accessible height toilet support easy access, and beach essentials are on hand for easy days by the water. A nearby laundromat adds convenience for longer island stays.
The Neighborhood:
Makahuena sits at Kauai's southern edge beside the Poipu coast, where trade winds, dark lava shoreline, and wide ocean horizons make the setting feel distinctly South Shore. Poipu Beach Park and Brennecke's Beach are close for family swim days and bodyboarding, while Shipwreck Beach brings a wilder coastal view. Follow the shoreline at sunset, then drive to Old Koloa Town for local restaurants and a change of pace. It is a peaceful base for travelers who want sunny Poipu access without giving up a quieter place to come home to.
Getting Around:
Lihue Airport is about 30 to 40 minutes away, a pretty drive across Kauai's south shore. A rental car is recommended to reach Poipu's beaches, Koloa town's shops, and nearby dining with ease. Old Koloa Town is walkable for boutiques and restaurants, while beautiful beaches are just a short drive away. Parking is generally available on site or in small lots around town.

Was a perfect set up for family of 5. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Lanai on the poolside with view of the ocean and sunset. Host provided beach accessories which was nice. Location was centrally located to most of our planned excursions.
Condo was clean and stocked appropriately. Great views could see whales from the property. Convenient location would definitely recommend.
The Condo was amazing. It had such a great feel and the neighbours were so welcoming. I will definitely stay here again. The location was fantastic. We saw beautiful sunsets/sunrises from the front lawn and whales! Pool was amazing and the kids had the best time. Definitely one of my favourite places to stay.
The condo was amazing. Great renovated space with a lot of amenities. One thing that was not mentioned prior to us renting is that the property is under construction and the doorway (step) entry to the condo is taped with caution tape and support beams and partially obstructed. The tennis courts are also closed due to repairs. Overall, it is a great place, just a heads up on maintenance/repairs would have been nice since we had kids.

We had a fantastic stay! Our family of five (2 adults and 3 older teens) found this condo to be absolutely perfect. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax, and we really appreciated having two bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a washer/dryer—it made our stay so comfortable and convenient. The condo was thoughtfully stocked with beach essentials like chairs, an umbrella, a boogie board, and a cooler, which made our beach outings even more enjoyable. We also enjoyed relaxing at the condo pool—it was a great option for downtime between beach trips. The location couldn’t have been better—close to all the beautiful south side beaches and great restaurants. The property manager was also wonderful—very responsive and helpful when we had a couple of questions about the parking pass and door key. We’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and well-located place to stay!
The condo was in a great location! They're was pleanty of space in the home. They're were minimal supplies in the home. We didn't have air conditioning for the first 24 hours. I did have to call multiple times and had 2 different maintenance people visit before it was fixed. When the windows were left open, due to no a/c, we did have cockrachs in the kitchen, otherwise it was clean.

My family and I enjoyed our stay very much. The location of the property is excellent. You are near all the restaurants and beaches. The view from the property is beautiful! Everything is well manicured and we did see some turtles swimming in the ocean from the back of the property by the water. My only complaint is the condo is under renovation and I wished it would have been disclosed in the details. The project appears to not be completed. Upon request, Vacasa did address our concerns promptly and satisfactory. Thank you for letting us stay here and experience Poipu.

It was a very nice stay.
The unit is spacious and had all of the necessary items for our stay. The grounds are very private and relaxing. The air conditioning system works great. We will be back next year.
Beautiful condo with beautiful views. Great location! Only 10 minute walk to beaches for excellent snorkeling and body surfing. We hope to return!!
What a perfect home base for enjoying this magnificent island . We had three couples on this trip , and we had plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is beautiful and extremely well equipped . But you may not want to cook with all the amazing restaurants in nearby Poipu and Lihue . You are a short walk from beautiful Poipu Beach. Great swimming , amazing sunsets , and sea turtles every evening ! Trust me , this is where you want to stay
The unit was stocked adequately. It’s a little dated and could use some updating. Beds were comfortable.
