This newly renovated lava themed house, in the lush subdivision of Leilani Estates, provides the perfect space to kick back and relax in style, inside and out. Guests are delighted to find they sleep exceptionally well and enjoy waking to coffee on their private lanai overlooking natural beauty.

Open to stunning skies day and night, with gentle breezes from the north, this gem is a favorite of repeat guests. Take a walk along the flower lined streets of Leilani's lovely tropical neighborhoods or explore the exciting adventures the Big Island has to offer.
Two acres of undeveloped native forest surround the property, forming a natural living flower lei providing life for Hawaii's native flora and fauna to flourish.

This home is hosted, you will see many positive comments about the host in the reviews. Hosted means the owner lives in the home. The owner's private spaces are on the lower floor in the back of the house. It is the owners priority to respect your privacy. This is the real Hawaii, a home, not a hotel.

Enjoy the convenience of many restaurants, unique shops, grocery stores including a natural food market, ATM's, and a drug store 5 minutes away in Pahoa town. Sunday Farmers Market is 19 minutes away. A nature filled drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is 40 minutes. Just 15 minutes to the ocean and many other incredible sights. Hilo town, the county seat and Hilo airport are just 35 minutes away.

If adventure is your thing you'll want to take in the beauty and thrill of nature's explosive volcanic power at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and return to relax in comfort and style at Lava Forest Retreat where guests remark on the fantastic sound sleep they experience.

Views of the forest add to the relaxing atmosphere and can be seen from the many windows and private lanai in the guest suite, creating an indoor treehouse effect.

Relax in Big-Island-style peace and quiet in two forested acres. View the sunset from your private lanai followed by the night sky full of stars. Venture out to view lava eruptions, waterfalls, beaches, mountains and many more exciting and breathtaking Big Island memory making moments, then return to relax in peace and comfort surrounded by nature's beauty.

Owner is a 37 year resident and an award winning baker who resides in the home in separate private rooms on the lower floor. If you mention your favorite dessert, don't be surprised if it magically appears.

The Lava Forest Retreat maintained its presence and indeed flourished following the lava eruption of 2018 in Leilani Estates subdivision where this home is located. In dramatic fashion, Pele the Fire Goddess and her lava eruption have left behind a spectacular landscape of some of the world's newest Earth, most majestic rain forests and other worldly views.

Pahoa town, with it's funky charm, is only 5 minutes away, with many unique shops and restaurants. Kehena Black Sand Beach is 18 minutes away, with a view of serene, swimmable coastal tide pools along the route. Be sure to visit Pohoiki Beach, a short drive through a dramatic coastal landscape of forest and lava to a black sand beach that is a favorite of local surfers. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a must see, about a 40 minute drive. Take a day trip to Kona on the other side or just a walk around the block, you will find the Big Island's beauty everywhere.

If you're looking for adventure, the Big Island is your best choice. If an unforgettable experience, like no other, is your desire, Lava Forest Retreat awaits you.

Wild pigs and guinea fowl wandered through the yard while we had coffee on the lanai with a rainforest view. We traveled and saw Pele’s episode 41. Great trip. Recommend this host Thank you!

We recently returned to this VRBO rental about a year after our first visit, and we’re happy to report that it’s just as fantastic as we remembered!•Consistency: The property remains in excellent condition, and it’s clear the host continues to maintain it to a very high standard.•Cleanliness: Spotless, just like our first visit. Attention to detail in cleanliness is one of this rental’s strongest points.•Host: Once again, the host went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. They are friendly, accommodating, and very responsive. We were thrilled to have another positive experience here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this rental again. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained place!

We had a comfortable, quiet, peaceful stay in Lelani Estates. Everything was clean and relaxing from the long driveway buffering a quiet neighborhood road to the upstairs suite with lanai overlooking a back jungle. Krisy cares for her home and the surrounding healthy yard fringed with jungle sounds and sights. She was available to ask questions and talk story. Mahalo Krisy for making your home available for guests.

My daughter and I stayed at this lovely home for three nights. The location was ideal for us. Necessities, such as gas and groceries, were close by and it was an easy drive to the Hilo area and the coastal areas to our east and south. Our host, Chrissy, was a pleasure. Communication was top-notch, both before and during our stay. This was our first time staying at a hosted rental and we wondered if privacy would be an issue - it was not. Chrissy was available if we needed her, but otherwise we barely knew she was there. We greatly appreciated her kindness and hospitality. The upstairs suite had everything we needed, such as microwave, coffee maker, mini refrigerator (with freezer), two beds (one a foldout futon) and a spacious bathroom. A second bathroom was available to us, as well. Our suite, linens and towels were clean. The house is surrounded by lush jungle foliage and accompanying nature sounds (birds and frogs), which we found relaxing, even late at night. No complaints and highly recommend.

This is a 10 stay. The house is in a lush gardenic setting in a very quiet neighborhood. Christine was an excellent host and saw to our every need. The house was immaculately, clean with a beautiful upstairs balcony overlooking our lush yard. A wonderful place to have your morning cup of coffee. We stayed a few different places before reaching Christine‘s house, we were so pleased with her place that we canceled reservations elsewhere in order to stay at the lava house. I can confidently say that is the best deal on the island.

My grandson and I stayed a week with Christine while visiting Hawaii and my older brother. Right from the start Christine made us feel extremely welcomed - that Aloha feeling from start to finish. Accommodations were very comfortable and we especially enjoyed the photographs of local point of interests. Thanks Christine for all our great conversations, we had the best time with you.

This a lovingly maintained property, and Christine is a gracious host. Youʻll marvel at the profusion of plants in her garden and in the rainforest that partly surrounds her property, all visible from a lovely lanai off this second-story suite! Comfortable and serene -- a genuine taste of Hawaii life far from the tourist resorts.

This is a special place owned and run by a special lady. The location is excellent with marvelous destinations nearby—if you can tear yourself away from the second floor deck ten feet away from the picture-perfect rain forest. Needless to add, it is highly recommended.
