This house is near South Point, the southern most tip of the `Big Island` in a lush part of the Kau District. It has beautiful views from the glass enclosed lanai or from any place in the garden of the ocean, the sometimes snow capped Mauna Loa Mountain, the 5th fairway of the golf course, Naalehu, and the volcanic plume visable from far away up the coast in Volcano National Park where the lava meets the sea. It is just minutes away from Kawaa Beach, the Buddhist Temple in Wood Valley, the Black Sands Beach at Punalu`u, and the Green Sands Beach at South Point (you need four wheel drive to drive to the Green Sands Beach, or you may park and walk). Take in the spectacular views at the Volcano National Park; see the earth renewing itself with the lava flowing into the ocean, creating new land, and check out the hidden lava tree forest. You can go to Kailua-Kona or Hilo and take in the sights and return to your own little corner of the world and relax in this beautiful home with all the creature comforts.
TAT# W-69149687-01

Most guests rent vehicles at either Hilo or Kailua-Kona airports. Free parking on-site. The County of Hawaii has a public bus system with schedules, routes and fares available on the County Website.

The house is located on a cul-de-sac with only one other house on the north side about 40 yards away. The golf course is also on the north and east side. Thick vegetation and Christmas berry trees are on all other sides of the house, making it very private.
From the Pagoda you can see the golf course, Mauna Loa and the ocean. The smells of the hibiscus, plumeria, and white and red ginger is intoxicating.
The South Point area is sparsely populated, therefore there are few lights to compete with the stars at night, allowing awesome star gazing.
Please lock all windows and doors when leaving the house.

Pool maintenance is once a week. His name is Nathan and he has a key to get in the gates.

The gates to the pool must be locked at all times. No glass of any kind can be on the pool deck or in the pool. Acrylic dinnerware for eating and drinking are provided. The pool is heated by a solar system so one day the water may be warmer than another depending on the amount of sunlight. Do not attempt to ‘fix’ the pool. The pool maintenance person will make any adjustments when he visits once a week.
Do not attempt to “fix” anything on the controls on the side of the house. Nathan is the pool manager and he comes once a week to clean the pool and do any adjustments.

When we arrived at the house we were in awe! And after a week here, the yard at the house is by far one of the best! Extremely well maintained, good layout, and they let you eat the fruit from the trees. The gazebo in the backyard is a true sanctuary, and we felt blessed to be able to yogi in it. The pool was a dream and our kids loved to swim in it at any time we’d let them. The views from back there are unmatched as well. When you get the windows open and the wind is going it’s so relaxing in the house. The house itself you can tell is extremely well maintained and in a safe and well watched/maintained neighborhood! We loved everything about it and hope to come back again one day.

Could not use pool all 7 days we were there was invaded by the "pool" guy for the first 5 days then the gardener arrived Bright and early to trim bushes under the windows of the bedrooms so no privacy the whole stay.house was dirty and had a ant infestation. garage smelled like animals one room had a bad smell "do to the wood of the furniture".Clean lady was great coming out to help with the clean up from people before us.

This property was very clean and well-stocked with many items to make our stay very comfortable. The views are beautiful and we did enjoy a round of golf. It’s not in great shape, but the reviews are stunning! We really enjoyed the outdoor living part of this home. The pool was wonderful to have; however, the listing stated it was heated, but should be clarified to say “solar heated”. We would definitely come back to stay at this property again!

The consensus was we wished we had been able to spend more time just hanging out here. The property is beautiful and quiet even though there are other houses around. Sometimes pictures over exaggerate the positive features but in this instance it was spot on or even better. Teenagers loved it! Favorite spot was the lanai and the pool & patio. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances and utensils. The only downside is I wish a grocery store or restaurants were closer. We absolutely loved our stay here. Property manager was quick with communications and clear about checkin procedures.

In terms of a great place to stay, it was awesome! It is one the southern part of the island, so know you will have a drive getting to Kona or Hilo. But if your goal was like ours, to get away from things, it was an oasis. Having said that you are a relatively short drive to Volcanoes National Park, the Punulu'u bakery and the Punulu'u black sand beach. You also have some great hiking nearby at the Volcanoes National Park Kahuku unit. The property is a well equipped 3 bedroom with a sunroom (great for breakfast/coffee) and a well maintained pool with plenty of room for outdoor lounging and star gazing. Plenty of notes on walls and in book to give directions on things to do/not do. Hard to decribe the view and landscaping for this place. Lets just say, it was to die for. Woke up to gentle breezes with views of hills and the Ocean. The night sky worth mentioning as well if you are a star gazer. Easy check in / check out with door code entry. Our host was extremely responsive and went above and beyond when we left a few items of clothing behind accidentally. A fantastic, off the beaten path get away that allowed us to reconnect with family and re-charge the batteries. Would recommend for the above reasons and would stay here again

We really enjoyed our stay! We were comfortable and had everything we needed to fix meals (which we loved eating on the lanai). We had a great time playing golf on the golf course The views were incredible!

Great stay for exploring the southern part of Big Island. Our family loved the pool, well equipped kitchen, and location. I would definitely recommend staying here. Look in to booking through the rental agency as they do not complete anything in VRBO. This was the only downside as all the instructions and check in information was not easily found in the app and was emailed through a different address.
