Maybe a couple more towels and facecloths
Everything was just as advertised and was a great place to stay. Only problem was that the condo didn't get much breeze that came through and didn't cool off at night as much as we would have liked. The over head fans did help but being from the PNW it was very warm for sleeping. Other than the place was cute and perfect for our stay.
The room and pool area was clean. The laundry room and outside of the property were not clean. There were several soda cans around the property which we picked up. The amenities are bare, 1 towel per person for the entire stay or do the laundry for a clean towel each day. I'm not doing that on vacation. As you walk to the beach theres homeless people living along the road which surprised me. Its actually an abandoned golf course resort. Looks like at one time it may have been a much more beautiful place.
This was a very clean and comfortable location, near the black sand beach on the Big Island. Not near any shopping centers or full grocery stores as you might be use too, but we stopped at a Costco on the way out to the home and stocked up with supplies so we never felt in need of anything. We stayed there for part of our stay in order to enjoy the seclusion and peacefulness. Then spent the last 3 days in Kona ...to "re-acclimate" to the city life. Overall a very good vacation.
This was a perfect choice for us. Clean, comfortable, beautiful, quiet. While no A/C could have been an issue we were not inconvenienced by it. The surrounding area was not a metropolis but presented us with some exquisitely gorgeous beauty. We enjoyed Ka’u Coffee Company and took a meandering drive down the road it was located on. It was like entering a botanical garden. Utterly gorgeous!I totally recommend this condo for comfort, views and ease of booking. Kitchen space and utensils for cooking. You won’t be disappointed if you should choose to stay here.
The condo was incredible, and exceeded our expectations. The outdoor area was wonderful--very private, with a view of the ocean. Everything was as pictured--very clean and cozy. It has everything we needed for our stay. The location was incredible--so close to the beach! We saw the green sea turtles every day.
Beautiful property! Exactly as advertised!
Everything was great. Good central location. Peaceful property. I only wish there were some pedestal fans. It got a bit warm at night. I loved eating breakfast on the lanai.
My husband and I felt this property was the perfect fit. It was peaceful and scenic. The condo had a delightful ocean view and you could hear the waves crashing on the lava shores. It had a great layout, nice decor, a super comfortable bed and was very well equipped. The pool and hot tub were also great. The hosts, Tom and Christen were quite helpful.
This was a great spot for our short-term stay. Loved the easy access to the beach and to the Hawaii Volcano National Park.
Perfect place if you love National Parks, hiking, nature and relaxing. EXACTLY as described and the added information with things to do, absolutely on point.Bonus: Seeing turtles every single day with just a short walk to the black sand beach. Great way to spend our 25th anniversary!
Wonderful condo, in an amazing location. Was able to relax and rejuvenate. Very responsive owners. Just what we needed . Highly recommend the area and the condo
The stay was wonderful in every way! The location is ideal for exploring Volcanoes National Park, but it's also not far from other great day-trip options and the black sand beach. The space is perfect for two people; the kitchen is well-stocked if you want to cook, and there are extras like a cooler and snorkeling gear for exploring the water. Would definitely stay here again!!
I've probably just been spoiled by more remote and/secluded stays, and while this stay wasn't bad, it's not a location I'd select again. The condo itself was clean and well kept, but don't fool yourself into thinking two small ceiling fans will help with 80° weather and 95% humidity. Since we didn't plan to do more than sleep and have the occasional meal there, no biggie....except for the neighbors. Being a condo (and a downstairs unit at that) you expect some noise. It wasn't bad with the first guest above us, but the second guest required calls to the property owner and a visit to the leasing office to resolve. 8-10 people (mostly kids) running around screaming for a bday party for several hours in the evening wasn't what I'd consider "relaxing". And since there is no AC, everyone keeps their balcony doors open which means you just hear it even more. Next morning we come back to an even larger group above us, shoes and toys everywhere outside, and even noisier than the last night, so we decide to just leave and go explore vs eating at the condo. Property owners did resolve the issue with the leasing office and owner of the condo above us, but of the 4 nights there only one didn't have us listening to furniture being moved around, chairs slid inside/outside, kids running around, etc. If you don't mind kids or generally feeling like you live in an apartment from your 20s, it could be a perfect spot.
This locale was a welcome change from all the action in Kona. Out of the way but within a long half hour drive to Volcano National Park. Nearby town has twice weekly market and great Bakery. Be aware that the condos are the only remains of a golf resort. No AC in units but plenty of fans and the ocean breeze cools things off at night. Nice pool and hot tub with a view of ocean and two nice barbeque grills. A few minutes walk to famous black sand beach with turtles. Best visited in early morning or evening. Snorkeling depends on the wind. Overall we loved it. Price was good, possibly due to being a little more removed from major cities and services. We had our own snorkeling gear but they had two sets of good gear, beach chairs and cooler. We would definitely stay here again. Makala.
We loved the stay here! It was quiet and peaceful, it had everything you need!! It is a rural setting, which we weren't prepared for, so arriving after 5 pm on a Sunday, we found no grocery stores open or restaurants, within a half hour. On Monday, all of that changed, just be prepared. We used their cooler and water toys, there was plenty of room.
This tidy condo was just as advertised. It’s an easy walk to Punalu’u black sand beach. There is a dearth of restaurants in the area, but the hosts have kindly provided a few suggestions, and directions. The hosts were helpful about helping me get an item I forgot when I left, and who can ask better than that?
Enjoyable stay in a peaceful location.
My other half and I stayed at this place to attend my cousin’s wedding in Na’alehu and it was an amazing stay! We truly enjoyed the quiet, relaxing, cleanliness of the unit and overall property. We had some down time to relax prior to the wedding so we enjoyed some relaxation poolside and in the Jacuzzi. This place is a quick 10-15 minute drive to either Na’alehu or Pahala. Awesome hosts, with prompt responses! We highly recommend!
This was a perfect quiet getaway! The condo was clean and had everything we were looking for. Pool area was great and the complex as a whole was quiet and relaxing. Highly recommend!
Overall, we had a great stay. Location (Volcano Nat'l Park, Distance to Kona and Hilo), view, complex/facility and interaction with host (Tom/Christine) including information prior to arrival - wonderful. Consider: A ground floor unit - can hear everything in the above unit that is Condo owned. We had the unfortunate experience of having a toddler awaken us at 4:30AM (1st night) and 6:00- 6:30AM each following day. Not ideal for a peaceful and tranquil experience. Only one towel set per person, no dishwasher or in-unit washer/dryer.
Very nice property in small, quiet, well-maintained development. Condo was clean, nicely furnished and well equipped, with small outdoor patio with ocean view. Development has a pool and lovely hot tub overlooking the ocean. Not many amenities (shops, restaurants) in the surrounding area, but convenient for Volcano National Park and exploring the less developed areas of Hawaii big island. Great escape from the Seattle winter!
#20 at Sea Mountain was everything we were looking for. We wanted to spend a few days at the south end of the Big Island so that we could easily go to Volcanoes National Park. We also wanted to spend some time at Punalu'u Black Sands Beach and visit the Punalu'u Bakery in Naalehu. Check, check and check. We found this to be the perfect location for us. It was very comfortable (including the bed!!), we had all that we needed for cooking our own meals, and more than enough supplies like TP, paper, towel, dish soap, hand soap etc. Tom was very good with communication, especially when he heard that we had experienced an M5.7 earthquake with an epicentre not far from our location! We would definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a quieter, more authentic Hawai'i, away from the busyness of the bigger towns.
Hear the birds, ocean and have the pool nearly to yourself every day. Go exploring. Take a hike. Snorkel. Hang out. All in paradise. Highly recommended!!
