2BR/2BA Kona Reef Ocean & White Sand Beach From Every Room

Enough room for our family. Very comfortable.

Fit the bill perfectly, as we only had one car, so the location enabled those who wanted to walk to town to do so, and this left the car as an option for other errands, sight seeing etc. Marvelous! Lots of dining options within walking distance, and Honl's beach a few feet away was a nice retreat to just sit and listen to the surf. The kids with us really enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well :)

Beautiful location

Everything was perfect except the unit has a bad smell to it. We sat outside most of the time and having the air/fans on helped.

There are positives and negatives with this property. The biggest negative for us was a lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms. There is only an air conditioner in the living room. It should be opposite. The positive is the ocean view and location to the downtown area.

The view was amazing, but the condo was not well maintained. It was definitely not what we expected for the price. The double sliding glass door was broken (this was not disclosed). We were able to use one side using some force. The patio chairs were rusted. There were two water leak spots in the guest bedroom closet. The condo had been cleaned but just not properly. The outside of the kitchen cabinets were grimy and so was the face of the refrigerator. There was some mildew in the grout of the shower and the screen in the master bath was covered in thick dust. We had some trouble with the TV so we contacted the property manager who was rude and referred us to the maintenance guy who was actually helpful. We messaged Ken, the property manager, about our concerns but never heard back from him. It doesn't appear he has inspected this property in some time.

Good location as advertised. The unit has a beautiful view of the ocean, sunset, and the adjacent beach. The unit furnishings are deminimus, meaning they are still largely functional, but generally at end of life. Curtains, mattresses, air conditioning, and furniture are not in very good shape and below par for a unit in this price range.The unit is not equipped to sleep 6... the air mattresses are also at end of life, and only one set of linens was available. We had a good stay, and the unit was functional, but ideally the unit furnishings get a makeover soon.

Great unit with amazing views. The short walk in to town was something we looked forward to every day. We enjoyed out early mornings on the deck drinking coffee. We would stay again.

Does need a little TLC. The microwave did not work. The AC had a leaking problem so the deck was all wet. We texted the owner and got that fixed, but not the microwave. Due to the salt air, the sliding door was extremely hard to open and close. There is no dresser in the 2nd bedroom, so nowhere to put your clothes. Only half of the closets were available to use. Little problem with ants, but the RAID provided did help. All in all, It was a wonderful trip and I would definintely stay there again.

The view was great.

This condo is situated perfectly. The pool and bbq areas are clean and calm. This is not the place for parties and loud music. The ocean makes the music at all times. Its very family friendly. Loved watching the conch shells be blown at sunset. The lanai has some creature visitors. Watched manya rays and tangs in the water. Would love to return

Ideal spot overlooking a small beach park. Property was exactly as photos advertised. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping, easy underground parking. Only problem was that we wanted to stay longer! We did not give ourselves enough time in Kona after starting our trip on the Hilo side of the island.

Constant wonderful ocean waves. We would stay there again.

This is a very nice property with a superbly supplied kitchen and bathrooms. It had plenty of everything you would need to prepare meals. Beds were comfortable and the lanai was spacious. You couldn't ask for a nicer view. Glorious!

We four adults (all over the age of 67) thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous view of the rocky beach and surfers from the second floor balcony. The apartment was clean and ready for our arrival. While the listing did NOT specify there was easy access to the public beach (next door to our building) we thought the access from the building might be easier than having to walk out of the building area and access from the street. Our only suggestion regarding the apartment itself would be to provide a floor fan that could be relocated to the end of the hallway (closest to bedrooms) to help draw the air conditioned air from the window unit air conditioner in the front living room into the bedrooms for a cooler night’s sleep. It was a wonderful experience and my hubby and I would definitely stay in this unit again!

You can’t beat the location of this property. Staying right on the shore made this trip special. We did not have to go anywhere to enjoy great views and sunsets, yet many good restaurants (Fletcher’s Kitchen and Huggo’s On The Rocks) are an easy walk, as is town.

Wonderful location with a few updates this property would be amazing. Invest in some new towels, a little more comfortable bed and some actual glass in the condo rather than just plastic.

Wonderful location and facilities - you can’t beat the view! Enjoy the surfers, see the turtles munching in the rocks with your morning coffee on the deck! Crazy sunsets. Great Kona location and easy safe parking. Quick walk to Kona shopping or snorkel beaches etc!

Overall the location was great, amenities were as described. There were some homeless camps nearby, and the property needed a deep cleaning, and minor maintenance. AC did not work in back bedroom for example. View was amazing, and the patio was the preferred location in the house.

We had an excellent experience in this condo. The location is perfect, the amenities of the condo and complex provided any thing we could ask for. It was so nice traveling from North Carolina to arrive and have some of the essentials a family needed. When we return we will stay here again.

We loved it!! The views were beyond amazing. Location was great and the condo was very comfortable.

The condo was nice. Location is great. We love how close it is to everything. It looks partially redone, floors and countertops and bathrooms. The smart tv was a plus for evening downtime. We saw whales and lots of coming and going from the lanai. Unfortunately, the lanai doors barely moved to open and close and we couldn’t get them to lock and the screen would not stay on the track. The floor also needed a good scrub but everything else was clean and tidy.

Just let you know, tv in bedroom has no remote, washer was weird, & sliding glass door were awful!

You simply cannot beat this location. The view from this unit is stunning, parking is convenient and the walk to town is very easy. The kitchen is reasonably updated and the flooring is nice throughout the unit. It's a shame the windows/sliding door/lanai are so filthy, and the furniture in the main bedroom is so poor, as this really does distract from the unit.

Epic oceanfront property!

This was my first time at this Property. Super close to the Main Area to walk to for all kinds of things. The surprise was the sandy beach next door.

Beautiful place to stay. I only have 2 complaints. 1 is the queen bedroom didn't have a dresser so that was disappointing. Second is the beach was very rocky, so not much of a beach to swim. Other then that, the two was amazing and i would come back again.

This is unit has the best location with a corner view of the beach and surf. It is a great location.Close to town restaurants and shopping. It does need a little TLC as being at the beach takes its toll. The pool and jacuzzi are well maintained along with the facility. We did have a bit of a problem with the refrigerator and dryer, however the maintenance contact was handy and took care of the frig.

Everything was great and clean. There were only 2 negatives. One was the ac. It does have ac but only in the living room. There is a fan system that sucks air out of the living room and push that “cooler” air to the bedrooms, but the bedrooms were always at least 10 degrees Fahrenheit warmer. The second was the sliding glass balcony/lani door. It was very difficult to open and close and needs to be repaired. Overall was a great place to stay and we would definitely stay here again.

Really a great unit but it is a filthy mess!! The lanai has a rusted beach buggy in the corner with chairs that no one will ever be able to sit on which is sad because there is a beach right next door! The window cranks have a horrible scale attached to them and the screens have so much dust it is impossible to see through them.If someone does a deep cleaning this unit would be pleasant!

This location is incredible! The condo is older but quite nice. We spent most of the time on the lanai. The view is breathtaking. In the morning the water is so clear you can see many fish (especially the yellow tang) and even turtles. The only thing I wish I knew before booking is that the beach here has such a strong current and that the shallow rocks are covered with urchins so the locals strongly advised me against swimming or snorkeling at this beach. We did have a car and were able to drive to a great snorkeling spot, but I was hoping to snorkel here. Otherwise, this is exactly as advertised. morning morning

PROS: The listing is exactly like it said regarding the view! You are literally right on the ocean! Can’t beat how beautiful it was! Communication with the owner was great and check in was very easy! Great walking distance to the Main Street/Restaurants! The most amazing snorkeling ever, just to the left of the condo!! CONS: The condo is VERY outdated! Not just the decor…. Towels, linens, all the finishes, utensils, etc.. There is no central air, only a wall air conditioning in the living room! (It did eventually cool down the unit). Place just needs some major updating and paint! The balcony sliding door is extremely heavy and doesn’t open and shut Properly! Could be very difficult for some to open/shut!

We just got back and loved this rental. Amazing views from everywhere, literally overlooking the point at Honl's beach. Waves were fun out front and it was great to be able to sit and watch my boy get waves directly from the balcony.

It was a great view. Could use updates and a deep cleaning. Glass sliding door was difficult to open.

Place is nice and close enough to the touristy downtown area to walk but not so close to be in the thick of it. View of ocean and sunsets is great. Bit of a drive for some of the island's attractions but you can't stay close to everything if you want to see the whole island. Only issue was finding the parking permit and that was handled with in an hour. Off street covered parking, good boogie boards, snorkels and flippers are all just a few things left for your use. We didn't spend a lot of time in the apartment but what we did was great. Pool and hot tub are nice as well. All in all a nice, hassle free stay.

The condo has amazing views. The common areas are super nice. The house was ok, it will be much better if the windows were clean to be able to enjoy the great views.

Complex is a little dated, but kept up nicely. The unit itself has been remodeled and was great. It is on a corner and the views are unbelievable. Ocean sounds nonstop - it was fantastic. The AC unit is in the main room and does a solid job. The back bedrooms were a little warm. The pool looked nice, but we were out and never used it. It’s a short walk to town. So much to see and do there. There is a small homeless population in/around town, but we never felt unsafe. There is one short (100 yards) section of the walk to/from town that is dark/isolated, whether you take to main road or the coastal resort road.

My family and I had an amazing time for our first visit to the big island! Communication was easy with Ken and he was very quick with replies. Description was accurate, some of the pics were not the same of the lanai furniture, but not a big deal. Location was perfect and convenient for walking to shop, eat, etc…Beautiful sunsets every night from the lanai and so fun watching the surfers and bodyboarders! Also spotted a few turtles swimming along the rocks, too! We hope to visit, again, some day.

This condo was in an ideal location. The only complaint I have is that it was dirty. The windows had to be opened so we could see out and get the gorgeous view. I doubt the condo has been dusted in the last six months and the dining room chair seats were soaking wet when we arrived. (on Sat). They were still damp on Thursday. I don't know if the cleaners washed them? I understand the owner is not local but he needs to get a property manager to oversee the condo and the cleaning. Also, might consider hiring different cleaners. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and the great location. We would come back if the cleaning issue gets resolved.

This was a perfect destination for my family and i. Kitchen set up.for full meals, clean, spacious, and oh man the views. The sunsets off the lanai were spectacular. Easy walking to everything in town, and a great starting point for longer destinations. Beach outside the door, waves crashing, it was awesome. Easy to get to, only caveat is you need to be a pretty good at parking in tight spots. The garage is clean, safe, and small. Other than that, awesome all around.

This VRBO was exceptional clean. The views were exceptional. We all enjoyed watching the surfers - and they definitely were very good. the waves were 10 to 20 feet at times. We were on the beach next door a lot. We enjoyed the two bedrooms and the full kitchen. Couldn't quite figure how to operate the tv but that was OK since it made us get outside and enjoy the area. Restaurants downtown are all within walking distance and the are realy exceptional. very friendly area.

We enjoyed our time at this this condo. The view was outstanding and you could not ask to be any closer to the ocean! Great location. The little beach area next door was very nice. The condo was comfortable and had everything we needed. The only suggestions we would have is that the unit could use a good deep cleaning and the linens, towels and pillows should probably be upgraded. We truly enjoyed our time in this condo and would definitely stay here again. It was a great experience!

The Kona Reef accommodation was a superb place to stay as it offered a beautiful setting and the sound of the waves whenever we listened. Thank you, Ken, for listing this wonderful property. We look forward to a future visit.

The location and views could not be any better! We were very comfortable here!

This shows how much we loved our stay -- we have already booked this room for next year. It had some problems (TV wasn't working, toilet in master bath kept having the chain fall off, drier was touchy) but it more than made up with great views, ocean sounds, and a pool our 6-year old grand-daughter fell in love with. Oh James was awesome with our addressing our problems.

It was exactly as described. Probably the best view in the whole building. It was very clean. There was a beach just next door. If you go to the beach, take the pool key so you can get all the sand off before you go to the room. There was a lot of beach gear left behind that came in handy. It was walking distance to shops/restaurants so we didn't have to drive to get meals or shop. Reading some of the other reviews: homelessness: I never felt unsafe. They didn't come down to the water and bother us. They kept to themselves. AC: We were there in the winter. Keeping the windows open/plus the fans at night was good enough for us. Plus we were high enough up that I felt safe sleeping with the windows open (something I don't do at home). rundown: It's a condo by the beach. It's constantly being eaten by salt water. The windows sticking a little as they open doesn't bother me. I'm there for the view, not perfect windows. Only issues: Parking is tight. We found a spot every day but if we got there too late we were in the *last* spot available. (But we always got one.) Wifi/cell phone data signal was weak. My kids needed to do some schoolwork and weren't able to all work at the same time. water pressure/temperature- the pressure was very soft (and was the same at the pool so I think this is just standard for the building) and make sure you get the first shower or else the hot water runs out! These items weren't deal breakers though. I would stay here again.

The condo was great! A few things to note: My husband and I rented the condo with our two children- ages 9 and 12. Our kids are avid swimmers and love pools/hot tubs. You aren’t allowed pool toys/flotation devices at all- the condo manager came down on two separate mornings and spoke to us one morning and another family (who had younger kids the next). So that was a bit upsetting. The other major pool thing to note is kids under 12 aren’t allowed to use the hot tub. So our 9 year old was pretty upset about that- again- condo manager made sure he asked the parents how old their kids were who were in the hot tub, even brought down the paper that stated the condo rules to one family! The condo had a bunch of things you’d expect- but I will say the kitchen was well stocked. There is a small cooler and boogie boards, beach chairs etc. There are a whole bunch of items that are old on the deck- broken boogie boards, rusting beach chairs etc that need to be thrown out. The units AC is just in the living room but it does cool down the entire condo if needed at night. We personally didn’t use it at all. Washer and dryer was heaven to have- they gave us about 5 pods to do laundry. The view from the balcony was incredible and I’m going to really miss hearing the ocean! It was overall a good stay, especially for the price. The beach beside Kona Reef is cute as well! Would stay here again!!
