We enjoyed a completely relaxing vacation and Christmas holiday. The house had all the amenities that we needed to be able to cook most of our meals. The view of the bay and hearing the waves crash against the shore at night was lovely. The beach access is great and the water was warm. We cannot wait to return for our next beach vacation!
We had a wonderful staycation here at Lynn’s place! She was the sweetest to communicate with and was helpful! Enjoyed the beautiful views of Moloa’a bay!! Our teens enjoyed fishing and exploring the beach. Looking forward to our return the Moloa’a sometime soon!
Just an amazing property, we didn't want to leave. Great snorkeling, and the beach is very private. Definitely would go back.
The property is beautiful. The property maintenance man is a gem. The house needs a few things tightened up so the outside doesn't come in. It is Hawaii and the outside frogs, spiders etc. are large. We showed the maintenance man a few things that were likely needed. The are plenty of fans and the house does cool off at night for comfortable sleeping. It can get warm inside with cooking but manageable. The beds are comfortable. I would stay here again but not with someone that is older and has some mobility issues. The driveway is very steep, much steeper than originally told. We had to drive the person to the easement and got yelled at by the neighbor. She's crabby.
From the private grounds overlooking gorgeous Moloa’a Bay, to the uncrowded beach you will have the pleasure of relaxing on and swimming or snorkeling near the reef, this property’s location is very special. We saw spinner dolphins, sea turtles, monk seals, and countless fish. The house was clean, comfortable, and accurately described. And when questions or issues did arise, the host was responsive and kind--a big plus and something that we have not always experienced with vacation rentals. We would definitely come back.
The location can not be beat. The view is stunning. The house needs some repair/updating.
Our family loved 4 days here. It's really off the beaten path. Ideal if you want to be away from it all. Shops and restaurants are only a 20 minute drive away.
My goal of this review is to provide prospective clients a very fair, well-rounded review of this property, so they can understand what to expect. As others have stated in their reviews, this property sits in an incredible location, overlooking Moloa’a bay. It offers a very unique combination of views but also great access to the beach in just a hundred foot walk or so down the hill from the house. Many mornings until about 9:30 or 10 AM, we had the beach nearly to ourselves. This house is located nearest the best swimming spot in the bay- as the easterly trade winds and tides can bring very strong currents into the bay, but the beach access nearest this property is the most protected part of the bay, and almost always provides great conditions for swimming. We enjoyed the opportunity to swim and snorkel right out in front of the house, and the home owners have plenty of snorkel gear that we borrowed for these adventures. I’ll make it clear- you choose this place for the location. Our theme for the week was “we’re living local, not living luxury” and “it’s like we’re glamping.” This was most evident by the number of creepy crawlers around. We saw a total of 15 roaches in the house had a number of small ants, and even killed a huge centipede (they can be nasty, beware!). The house is modest, but meets a reasonable standard otherwise. If you plan to work remotely from here, you better not need the internet. The WiFi service was very poor. Starlink could help.
The location is great. Quick walk down to a sandy beach. Water is clear and great swimming. We were lucky to be there during whale season and could watch them from sitting in the yard. We had a group of 7 adults and the property provided lots of room for everyone to sleep and enjoy time together both inside and outside.
Our family of 4 adults and 2 children had a wonderful stay. We were able to check in early to enjoy a sunny day at the beach which was a short walk down the driveway with cart already packed with beach chairs, cooler, and towels. The house had everything we needed to stay in and cook so we could spend more time watching whales from the gazebo. The host was very helpful. We would definitely rent this house again.
Issue number one: Bugs! Arrived found cockroaches and contacted owner about the bugs and being in the jungle were not surprised. Owner said they treated the home and bugs will be dying off. Bug sightings only increase during our stay, crawling on my brothers backs while sleeping, getting onto food in kitchen, falling from ceiling onto dinner plates and we had enough. Were able to contact VRBO and get reimbursed and leave the rental. Owners of the rental only reached out a day after we had left to ask what they could do to make our stay more comfortable. Issue number 2: Poor upkeep. Drawers broken, Toilet broken, 8 people had to use just one toilet. Freezer did not keep things cold. Overall there are better places to stay as we found once we moved to another rental. Maybe they address the issues but not worth the risk as they did not alert us to the toilet or bugs prior to arrival and clearly did not care about the comfort of their guests stay.
I stayed here with 4 other 40 year-adult college friends. My friends were new to the island, I was the tour guide. I’ve been to Kauai 20 times and have never been to Moloaa Beach because it is sooo private. This hands down is my favorite beach on Kauai. And this is the best house property on the bay. This is a real plantation style home with history. The owner is planning a remodel that would put this property way out of reach for the normal vacationer. Book now!! There are four private gates you must through to get to the beach and then this stunning property overlooking the crystal clear snorkeling and swimming bay. Huge private property with two gazebos we hung 5 hammocks from. (Bring hammocks!) It was perfect for us and I had a hard time getting my newbie friends to leave and explore the rest of the island. Phenomenal experience and a great helpful host on call. I will be back to this property and only this property for future trips. When we showed up we felt the photos on vrbo significantly downplayed this stunning property.
Our family stayed here to celebrate my 75th birthday, and every day we pinched ourselves, thrilled to wake up to the spectacular view across the wide lawn overlooking a very private beach. this is not a "resort-type" home but an older, quirky plantation-style home that was perfect for our casual family. It's very private, and the first time a little hard to get to because it's down a long private road; but after that we had no problem. The house was well-equipped with appliances, barbecues, snorkeling equipment and beach toys for our three-year old. There were some issues with the stove; the owner had ordered a new one that was taking a while to come. So we happily barbecued in the outdoor pavilion! There are LOTS of mosquitoes, so we had to keep the doors closed at certain times of day; no air conditioning, but plenty of fans. This is a unique and beautiful property, in a magical location that we felt very lucky to stay in.
This was a fantastic place to stay, a really unique location with easy access to the beach. The host was very communicative and helpful. I would stay here again.
Very private. Sitting on a bluff overlooking a quiet bay. Watching whales and dolphins play in the water. Walking the beach and finding monk seals sleeping. Boogie boarding in crystal clear ocean. Snorkeling around the reef. ..... and you can do all that without getting into your car! Like other reviews have said, it is not a resort. But when you spend all your time outside soaking up the sun and beauty the inside is not so important. Beds were clean and comfortable. Back bedroom with attached bathroom has screens for windows, felt like you were sleeping outside! Clean bathrooms. Outdoor shower for rinsing the beach off. Big screen TV with comfy couch. Side room with another comfortable couch. Large dining room table. We did not eat meals at the house. Toaster oven for bagels in the morning, packed meat sandwiches and waters for picnic lunch and dinner out. Large fridge to hold waters to drink and freezer to hold waters for icepacks. Cooler provided. Two pavilions. One just off the dining room with table and chairs. One at the corner of bluff with chairs for relaxing. Boogie boards, swim noodles, beach chairs and blankets, snorkeling gear, sand toys all provided. Lynette was awesome and quick to respond whenever we had a question. She seemed genuinely happy to host us, treating us more like friends visiting than customers renting. I was the planner for my brother, husband and daughter. I had it narrowed to a beautiful condo in Princeville or this rustic home on Moa
We got in a little late and had some issues with getting in (locks in the dark for privacy gates). Lynn was completely accessible and talked us through other options. We had a couple of questions during our stay and she was always available to help. The property location can’t be beat. The beach is very private, the property gives you room to breathe. It’s a little quirky - as other reviews have said, it definitely feels like an authentic old-school home that you get to settle in to. Our family adored being able to grill out, walk to the beach, look for whales, and feel like we could relax. The location was great for exploring the whole island. We hope to come back in the future and stay here again - it’s a hidden gem for people who are not looking for a resort type stay.
