This house is exactly as described. We loved many aspects of this house: the lanai, the walkway to the cliffs behind the house, the outdoor shower, the spaciousness & layout of the home, and the view / location. It is in a residential area, so it is mostly quiet. The tree frogs did talk most of the time, but it became relaxing. Yes, there was a free-range rooster that sang to us in the morning, but it wasn't too bad. It did not hinder our stay. Yes, the cliffs do attract a few locals throughout the day, but they are quiet. We didn't notice any loud noises during our stay. Overall, we all loved this house.
Positives: great sunrise view, quiet, lots of space, comfortable furniture, outdoor patio with view, outdoor shower was fun, very natural feel and a lot neat custom features, whoever built the home really put in a personal touch, easy walk to lava cliff overlookNegatives: when we booked a hot tub was pictured and mentioned in description, there was no hot tub. lack of air conditioning really had us worried when we first checked in because it was hot, but after opening all windows and turning on fans it was comfortable for the rest of the stay. There is a parking area between the ocean and the home where people walk by the ocean, it wasnt a big deal at all but did make it feel a little less privaye. Lastly the water, i didnt read the fine print in the check info and it said "home utilizes water catchment and is UV filtered for consumption but not recommended for drinking" i wish that had been on a physical sign by that water because we didnt see until check out. We all feel fine after drinking but still
We came to Big Island for the Merrie Monarch Festival so commuting back and forth to Hilo for the week. Was an easy commute. We are from Texas so we considered it relatively short. Most of the time due to lower speed limits. The house was very spacious; perfect setting for our group as we had people coming and going over different days. The property was beautiful with great view and sounds of the ocean. Could be a bit noisy with locals fishing since kept windows open for air circulation and ocean sounds.Only suggestion would be to have oscillating portable fans for the 2 bedrooms downstairs so not only relying on airflow from windows in the event there is no breeze. Could be stored in the closets. Ample cooking utensils, pots, pans, appliances. Great they provide towels for the beach. Love the showers both the master and outdoor shower downstairs. Thehouse
Nice house
I love this home!! We have a wonderful Christmas break here! The house is right by the ocean. The only complain i have is not much of a kitchen equipment. I love to cooking but we were able to make do with the stuff they have. I would stay here again.
Nice
This was a beautiful home. The views were wonderful, and the atmosphere was exactly what we wanted. While this does sleep six, be aware that you will have to double up in each bedroom. The outdoor shower looks and sounds a bit weird, but ended up being one of our favorite parts of the stay! There's no AC, and it was a little hot when we got there, but the cool sea breeze kept things quite comfortable once you opened up the doors and windows. Over all the house was very clean, there were a few geckos in the house, but they were never a bother, just freaked out the girls. The only real complaint is that it was a bit out of the way of things. It's at least a 10 minute drive to any place to eat or shop. Also the cliffs right behind the house are public and get. A LOT of traffic. It was never really a bother, but there were cars pulling in and out well into the AM. Usually pretty quiet, but there was one night they played music until around 1 AM. It wasn't enough yo really bother anyone, but it was audible. All in all, it was beautiful and relaxing. We would highly reccomend if you're looking for some R&R and aren't worried about the seclusion.

We have stayed here several times. We like that it is easy to walk to the beach park and either go to Maku'u Point along Beach Road and Ala Heiau Road, or to Kaloli Point along Beach Road and Paradise Ala Kai. The house itself is very room and airy, and we like the semi-outdoor shower: the doors add plenty of privacy, and you can get to it from inside. The upstairs shower is nice too, but doesn't have two shower heads.
Take note..we would definitely stay here again. Large home well appointed and generally very clean. Pro's..listen to the ocean 24/7, although close to public access, we felt very safe here, and well away from tourist traffic. Cons..its out there a bit, no stores nearby to grab the little things you forgot. Like I said earlier, generally very clean, but we found a big dead bug as we put our bags down when entering the property which taking into consideration where you are, its kind of to be expected. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
We loved hearing the Ocean every night. Walk from home to Makuu and Puna Trail for hiking. Walk out backyard to sit on lava with ocean views. Feel lucky to see whales and sea turtles from there. The entire home was perfect especially outdoor and walk in bathrooms. Mahalo Mele Kai.
