September 11 storm recovery update: The condo itself wasn't damaged by Lowell, and Ken and the crew are making good progress clearing the grounds. We're still without power. KIUC says main line repairs may take until late next week, with Princeville needing several more days after that if no further damage is found. There's no firm restoration date yet, and nearly 20 crews are expected on the North Shore. We're also conserving water while the pumps run on generators. AC, Wi-Fi, and the washer and dryer aren't working during the outage. If you're hoping to stay soon, message me before booking and I'll share the latest.

Bring your family or a few friends and make yourselves at home at Mauna Kai. There's room to cook dinner together, catch up on the lanai, or stretch out on the couch after a day at the beach.

The condo is in Princeville, close to Hanalei and Kauai's North Shore beaches. It has 1,280 sq ft, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and space for up to six guests, with one king bed and two queens. There's AC in every bedroom and the living space, plus a shared pool. The private lanai looks out onto the gardens and mountains.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Lower floor: One king bedroom and one queen bedroom share a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Upper floor: One queen bedroom has a connecting bathroom with a bathtub and shower.

The space

The open living and dining area has high timber ceilings, exposed beams, a sectional, and a TV. Sit around the dining table for a meal, or take your coffee outside to the lanai. There's AC in every bedroom and the living space.

If you feel like cooking, the kitchen has a refrigerator and freezer, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and toaster, along with cookware, dishes, silverware, and wine glasses. There's also Wi-Fi and a washer and dryer in the condo. Bed linens, bath and beach towels, shampoo, body soap, and a hair dryer are provided.

At Mauna Kai

You'll have the whole condo to yourselves, including all three bedrooms, both bathrooms, the kitchen, laundry, living and dining areas, and lanai.

Mauna Kai has one of Princeville’s largest shared pools. The swimming pool, BBQ area, and ping-pong table are shared with other Mauna Kai guests and residents. The pool and pavilion are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; please follow the posted rules and leave shared spaces clean for the next person.

Self check-in uses a lockbox, with arrival instructions provided before your stay. Free on-site parking is in unassigned spaces. Collect the parking pass from inside the condo and display it in your vehicle.

Princeville and the North Shore

Mauna Kai is in Princeville between Kilauea and Hanalei. Princeville Center has groceries, coffee, shops, and restaurants, and Makai Golf Club is nearby. Hanalei town and Hanalei Bay are a short drive away for beach time, local shops, and dinner.

The nearby Wyllie Beach trail leads down to the coast at the east end of Anini Beach. The condo is not beachfront. The trail has a downhill walk and an uphill return and can be slippery after rain; driving to Anini is often easier with beach gear.

Explore west toward Hanalei, Limahuli Garden, and Hā‘ena, or east toward Kilauea and the wildlife refuge. Check current ocean, trail, and road conditions and any advance reservation requirements when planning your days.

Good to know

Maximum six guests in one king bed and two queen beds. The living-room sectional is not an additional bed.

There are steps at the entrance and an internal staircase. The condo is not step-free.

Mauna Kai is a residential condo community. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., with no laundry or machine use after 10 p.m. Keep voices, music, and TV low and be mindful of neighbors.

No pets, smoking, vaping, or events at the condo. Please do not feed feral chickens or cats on the grounds.
