Fabulous views, privacy and quiet were foremost for us in choosing where to build our dream home in Hawaii. We looked for several years before finding this special Maui hilltop location on the side of the volcano. The guest cottage is nestled into a private setting, with no close neighbors, plenty of privacy and an ocean view to the east, and Healeakala view to the side. The main house sits at the top of the hill, but does not interfere with the privacy of the cottage.
We aspired not to a tailored gated community but rather to a feeling of informality in a serene, natural more rural setting. It was also important to us to be free as possible from the noise arising from airports, close neighbors and road traffic. Our 2 ½ acres feels secluded, and we hear the birds and the breeze rather than road noise.
We chose Maui's north shore because our family is very active in sporting activities, and we manage to surf, windsurf, kite board, boogie board, snorkel, stand-up paddle, fish, and run (in the pineapple fields). Our location is reasonably central so that trips to Makawao and to the top of Haleakala volcano, to Hana, to Makena or to Lahaina are all easy.
The guest cottage is set part of the way up the long driveway, in its own private area, and faces to the east, with an ocean view and full Haleakala view in the distance. The cottage has two bedrooms (queen and 2 twins), one bathroom, spacious living room, full kitchen, TV/DVD/Stereo, high speed wireless internet, covered deck, outdoor furniture and gas BBQ. AND…. A large private hot-tub.

This property has a vacation rental permit issued by the County of Maui, and is subject to the rules and restrictions imposed by the County for all short term rental homes. Please understand that we would be unable to accept a rental that does not agree to abide by these rules. Note: properties without a short term rental permit are subject to closure by the County.
1. Neighbors - Please be considerate of our neighbors. Noise carries easily to their homes, particularly in the evening. NO loud music, NO parties, NO amplified sound of any nature at any time. Many neighbors must be up early in the morning to go to work, and it's important that your use of this property does not impact them in any way.
2. Quiet Hours - Quiet time is from 9pm to 8am.
3. Use of the Property - Additional friends/family CANNOT be invited to the property and it cannot be used as a “meeting place”. The property can be used ONLY by the guests listed on the rental agreement. The County law allows us to accommodate a maximum of two guests x the number of bedrooms.
4. Parking - There is plenty of parking on the property. Vehicles CANNOT be parked on the street at any time. When vehicles are on the street, there is insufficient space for emergency vehicles, fire trucks, the trash truck or neighbors to get down the road.
At the time of booking, we'll forward the property rental agreement for review and acceptance. Additional information with respect to care and maintenance of the house will be included in the rental agreement. Payment is accepted by check, VISA or MC. For guests preferring to use VISA or MC, a 2% processing fee will be added.

We loved the hot tub - the lights and temp. There was plenty of parking. Not too much amenities nearby but great for a secluding relaxing beach vacation.
We enjoyed our stay at this property enormously and will definitely consider staying here again if available when we return to Maui.
We loved our secluded cottage over looking the ocean. We witnessed a huge rainbow, thunder storms and all the great weather Maui can throw at you. The hot tub was also fantastic
This is a very beautyful cottage for 4 people in the Haiku hills with views to the ocean and the Haleakala volcano. You can enjoy the silence on the balcony overlooking the hills while having breakfast. Haiku with local shops is nearby abd offering day to day necessities. The property manager is very professional, responsive, helpful and made the reservation very easy for us. Next to this it was a pleasure to be in touch during our stay. We would love to come back rather earlier than later.
This lovely cottage served my wife and I’s needs perfectly. Excellent privacy,the perfect size for a couple and added peace of mind of a gated property. We loved being up in the hills a bit, very peaceful. Although we explored the island extensively, we would have been just as happy staying close and enjoying the beautiful northern shore of Maui all week. Ho’okipa beach and the best waves on the island are right down the street. Haiku town right up the street, Colleen’s,4 food trucks and the grocery 2 minutes away. Pa’ia town just a short jaunt away. The best HuliHuli chicken is right down the street at AlohaAina barbecue. Hot tub a welcome bonus. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Gorgeous property up a beautiful hill - we were even greeted with a rainbow every day!!! Views spectacular, even better than website pics! No AC, but if you leave and explore the island all day, by the time you get back when the sun is about to set, it’s quite comfortable. Perfect location to start drive to Hana and explore Haleakala and upcountry!! Kitchen extremely well supplied to cook any meal. So peaceful and quiet, exceptionally clean - we are already planning another trip back we loved this place so much!!!
The cottage was exactly as described in the listing! It was the perfect place for our family to stay while vacationing on Maui. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. We appreciated the fact that the cottage was located away from the "tourist" properties and the hustle and bustle of vacation resorts.
Property is beautifully designed, immaculately maintained, and in a lovely, private location... part of a Haiku hillside farm parcel that was subdivided for homes. Will definitely stay here again.
This location is BEAUTIFUL! Overlooking the windward side of the mountain. It was a lovely quite area. The house is clean and very nice. The hot tub was a treat after being out all day. The winds blowing through made the house very comfortable. No need for air conditioning. Highly recommend this house for your Maui stay

If you want a quiet getaway this place is perfect, it is clean ,cozy and comfortable, It has great views and the only noise we heard where the birds and the wind. The cottage itself had everything we needed there , small stuff like having beach towels and chairs available for loan in addition to a well equipped kitchen and a strong internet connection . Will hope to stay here again on the next visit. The property management company where also very responsive and helpful and without being asked offered a later checkout as they knew we where in limbo between another later check in. Really nothing to complain about and lot to compliment on, thanks
