This oceanfront Kihei estate is a beautifully restored 4-bedroom, 3-bath beachfront retreat on Maui's sunny south shore, perfect for families and multi-generational groups. Originally built in 1946, this traditional Hawaiian home retains its classic charm while offering modern comfort, including a private pool, lush garden lanai, outdoor shower, and gas BBQ. Located next to a sandy beach reserve with calm waters ideal for kids, snorkeling, kayaking, and sunset strolls, the home features spacious en-suite bedrooms, a semi-private loft, and room for up to 14 guests with a mix of adults and children.

This large estate home is nestled on the desirable sunny South Shore of Maui. And, it's right on the beach! This lovely traditional Hawaiian home was custom built for a prominent local family in 1946 and has been fully restored yet retains all its original charm.
This beautiful home is nestled on a large lot, adjoining a beautiful beach reserve, which is an ideal place for children to play safely. The golden sandy beach has small waves making it perfect for family outings. Ideal for snorkeling, swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, long walks or simply to watch the sun set with a glass of wine.
The private pool is located off the living and dining areas on the ocean facing lanai. There is a gas BBQ and outdoor shower just off the kitchen entrance, ideal for rinsing off after a day at the beach. A 2nd covered lanai overlooks the lush garden and is the perfect place to relax and read a book.
The home features 3 spacious bedrooms each with a private en suite bath. There is also a semi private sleeping loft.
Bedroom 1/Oceanview Bedroom: California King Bed w/ full attached bathroom.
Bedroom 2/Garden view Bedroom: Four Twin Beds w/ full attached bathroom.
Bedroom 3 (Loft): Two double beds are in a loft bedroom off Bedroom 2. They share the bathroom with bedroom 2.
Bedroom 4/Main floor Bedroom: Two Queen Beds with full attached bathroom.
*Please note that accommodating 14 people is under the assumption that the party is a mix of adults and children based on size of beds in the loft and the necessity to share some sleeping spaces*

Located in popular Kihei Town, you are within walking distance of parks, restaurants and shopping as well as tennis and basketball courts.
Important to note: The County of Maui has begun to aggressively shut down illegal vacation rentals. Without fitting the criteria of County of Maui Ordinance No 4167 Bill No 75 (2014) or having a short term rental license, a property cannot be legally rented.
The criteria of the Ordinance applies to our house. It is located on property zoned A-1 Apartment District and was built in 1946. When a property is zoned A-1, has received building permits and was built prior to 1989, there is no restriction on the length of occupancies that can be accepted. Vacation and short-term transient rentals are entirely legal. In the case of our property, it was built in 1946 for Joseph Tam Sing and family. The original building permit and tax records dating back to the 1940's can be readily located via County of Maui Online Services site under "Certified History Field and Parcel Books to 1987".
While we strive to keep all photos up to date, there may be new and updated pieces of furniture or décor that are different than in the original pictures. Everything was so wonderful. The photos are so accurate, and yet I think it's even more beautiful than the photos! The hosts were very gracious. It felt very homey there. We had an absolutely incredible stay!
The view was the best part of this house! The incredible backyard, the immediate access to the ocean, the privacy; all were amazing! The house had character and we all loved it! There was a breeze almost every afternoon that cooled the house down quickly. The fridge did freeze food on the top shelves, even when we adjusted the temperature.
Poor quality paper towels only 2 rolls for a weeks stay House was not clean Toilet paper was very poor quality Host did not get back to us, he said he would Beach and pool were great but we wouldn’t book this house again
A perfect retreat for families. Enjoy the lush grass, refreshing pool, and serene beach—all without ever leaving the property. The beach is easily accessible and remarkably quiet, with shallow waters that stretch far out, making it ideal for children and relaxation. Comfortable beach chairs and plenty of loungers are available. The home itself evokes the charm of a classic 1940s Hawaiian residence—just as you’d imagine.
This Kihei island home is absolutely stunning. The location cannot be beat and the property itself was fabulous. Proximity to the ocean with the many palm trees in the back provides for gorgeous views and an unbeatable sunset experience. The property managers were very responsive to all questions or issues. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Amazing stay, beautiful house, great location
We had six adults and five children from five years to 63 years old. Had a fabulous time! Great location!! Enjoyed morning beach walks and saw turtles. Everyone enjoyed the pool and fabulous grass lawn.We enjoyed grilling our dinners on the huge BBQ.Highly recommend. Great time had by all.

The property is beautiful with lots of space inside and out! It is within walking distance of stores and restaurants. Stayed with a family group of 6 adults and 2 small children. The view of the beach with the grassy area and palms trees was outstanding! We played many rounds of bocce ball on the grass and the kids spent a great deal of time playing there too. Plenty of beach chairs and towels are provided as well as some sand toys for the kids. The house is a little older and dated and could use some upgrades but it felt quaint and easily met the expectations of our family group. The house was in a very quiet area and with secure parking and plenty of privacy. We would definitely stay there again!
We thoroughly enjoyed out stay here. The sunsets are just spectacular, and we chose to bring dinners in and watch them rather than eat out at restaurants. Location is perfect, just a bit outside Kihei, so quiet and relaxing. The pool and yard are great, played wiffle ball and ran around a lot. Saw turtles every day, swimming by or laying on beach. The house is comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and plenty of room for everyone. We will be back.
I was afraid the pictures of the back yard were too good to be true. To my delight, they’re accurate! The vast back lawn and beach are stunning!! The beach is nearly vacant and the house has everything you could need. Wonderful stay!
We had a wonderful time at Halama House-it is exactly as advertised. Being able to walk a few steps to the beach each night for the sunsets was wonderful and being able to sit on the lanai and eat even with the wind blowing was a plus. The house is large, had comfortable furniture, a well equipped kitchen with plenty of supplies and we never felt crowded. The kids loved their "private pool".They have lots of beach toys but the beach chairs were locked up and we didn't think soon enough to ask for the combination to the bin-but we survived without them. The only thing we would have asked for was tutorial on how to use the many remotes for the TV-a minor inconvenience. We would love to stay there again....
