Property Overview
Our home is steps from Pebble Beach which provides great access to the ocean - whether it be swimming, snorkeling, oceanside hiking; plus this area is perfectly located to explore the Big Island of Hawaii. You will have exclusive use of a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, 2 car garage house in Kona Paradise subdivision, 25 miles south of Kona. The home is located at the bottom of Kaohe Road, 150 yards from Pebble Beach. It is an easy, non-exerting walk (both directions) to our community beach.
You can hear the whales calling in season and the waves cascading onto the pebble shore. We have splendid views of the ocean and the mountains from the house and lanai.
Our expansive wrap-around lanai is the perfect place to enjoy the cool ocean breeze, sip a delicious cup of Kau coffee, eat a delicious papaya after awaking to the birds chirping and the beautiful hillside beckoning a morning hike. This is paradise!
Our 2-story home is clean and spacious with an open floor plan. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, dining room, lanai, and kitchen on the upper floor and the garage on lower floor . The spacious master bedroom has a walk-out sliding door onto the lanai, plush pillow-top king size bed, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom, and windows facing the southern view and lanai. The house has been professionally furnished from the Stanley Coastal Living Resort Collection, Pottery Barn & Pottery Barn Kids. The sunlit guest bedroom features a pillow-top queen bed and shares a full bathroom with the third bedroom, containing two twin beds. All bedrooms, the living room and lanai have ceiling fans. The house is not air-conditioned; however, all windows are screened, there are two sliding doors onto the lanai, and plenty of ocean and mountain breezes. The expansive covered lanai (15' x 30') is easily accessed off of the living room and the master suite. You will find fantastic views and an enjoyable patio dining table and chairs to enjoy quiet mornings or sunset dinners. A new Weber grill is available for your use in the garage.
The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, blender, coffee maker, coffee grinder, toaster, hot water kettle, rice cooker, waffle maker and baking pans. The house is on a water catchment system - which does require water conservation practice. A large tank behind the garage collects rain water, runs thru filters & supplies all water to the home. Please plan to take short showers & turn water off while brushing teeth, washing dishes etc - all mindful practices. We don’t want the tank to run out & if it doesn’t rain, water must be ordered for delivery.
We are located 25 miles south of Kona and 32 miles south of the airport, off of Highway 11. It is a beautiful, lush and scenic drive past quaint towns and coffee farms. Pebble Beach is a tiny walk from our door. It is a private community, small black pebble beach that offers hiking trail access, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and diving access. We are also close to Ho'okeena Beach, Pu-uhonua o Honaunau (aka Place of Refuge) and fantastic Two Steps (Snorkeling), The Painted Church, and Kealakekua Bay (Capt Cook Monument). Volcano National Park is 70 miles to the south with great hiking, history and views.
You will love it here. Come enjoy the paradise!

The property was clean and the ocean view was AMAZING! We loved the location and the proxinity to everything! The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, silverware, pots and pans, coffee pots and even some essentials that you may have forgotten. Check-in was a breeze!
The house has a great layout that was comfortable for 6. The views are wonderful, especially the view of the ocean from the deck. It was a very short walk to a quiet little beach which we liked much better than the big-named beaches. The place was easy to keep clean with an outside shower for rinsing off. It’s a bait of a drive for groceries or restaurants, so plan ahead. But the neighborhood is really pretty and this house is beautiful. All around we had a fabulous week.
I missed that the property didn't have air conditioning. Not much air movement, even with fans. The beach was rocks, not comfortable to walk on and surf was a bit much for a 7-year-old. Also we were restricted to 5 minute showers. No light at driveway caused two of us to fall in the dark as we were leaving.
The property is in a wonderful quiet neighborhood and only a short walk from the beach. It is well maintained and well furnished. The main things of note to keep you informed and so you can't say you didn't know is that the property is down a steep hill, so be prepared. Not a big deal as the whole neighborhood is this way. Also the property does not have air conditioning. It was warm during the day, but as you keep the windows open it cools down well with the breeze, so no problem at all. Also, the water catchment system was new for us, but did not pose any problem at all. The property is a slight ways away from the "town", maybe 30 minutes, so it isn't a quick drive to go pick up things, but just grab them on the way to the house from the airport and it is no big deal. Overall, I would love to stay at this property again as the pebble beach is extremely quiet and although it is different than a normal sandy beach, it did not bother me at all. Also, the abundant flowers and birds make it a very peaceful stay as you sit on the huge porch watching the sun go down.
Nice house and Location. A little south of main business so you have to plan to get food, gas etc. Only down side was we we were required to take garbage to the disposal site that is close to the house on our last day but the sites closed on Fridays so we had to scramble a bit to find another location or would have been charged 50 if we left it at the house.
This property was amazing overall and very comfortable for a family of 4. The views from the deck were amazing and you could smell the sea air throughout the stay there--even though the ocean is about 200 yards away from the property. You are literally 30 minutes from anything, so the peace and quiet at this property is amazing. That is also true for the stars if the night is clear as this area is far away from a lot of light pollution and you can see a "bowl of stars." Finally, while didn't need much from the owner, she is super responsive, friendly, and gives you a ton of information on what to do in the property (rules) and places to go (pro-tip: take her advice on the secret black-sand beach. It's worth the walk!)Couple of notes if you are planning on staying here (which I would highly recommend):The road in and out of this place is STEEP. They don't believe in switchbacks in this neighborhood at all. While she doesn't mention that the place has AC, I just overlooked that it wasn't listed as an amenity. Coming from cold Colorado nights to Hawaii warm was an adjustment for sure. However, she's got plenty of fans in the house to cool it off and it was very pleasurable listening to the frogs sing at night and the symphony of birds in the morning (except that one bird. It knows who it is.)If we find our way back to the big island again, we'd definitely stay at this place again without hesitation!
Nice place to relax
We had a very enjoyable time. The close proximity to the pebble beach was a real plus. The house and beach are both great for sunset viewing. We give high marks to location, cleanliness of the house, and our overall experience.
My two sisters, my husband and I, all in our 60s and 70s thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Kona Paradise is a beautiful location. The home had everything to make meals. The communication was prompt with the owner. You’ll want to make sure all of the outside lights turned off and you are responsible to drop off the trash. Think ahead on your way out to run errands.
This is in a very peaceful and relaxing environment away from any kind of hussle and bustle of cities. We loved staying here and enjoyed the remote location of this property. For any body looking to stay on the island near Kona I would definitely recommend this property even though is a.bir.of a drive to Kona. The property is very well presented in the pictures and is very accurate to what you aee getting when staying at this property.
Very peaceful and relaxing
We enjoyed our stay! Lovely views, comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, strong fans in the bedrooms were all appreciated!
This was an amazing property. It was away from the cities, but had all the amenities make our stay very enjoyable. The views were amazing.
This property is great. The walk to the beach is short and pleasant. It was a perfect home base for our exploration of this island. Because of the water retention system, you will be asked to take very short showers and will not be able to use the laundry. But we adapted quickly and enjoyed our stay.
This is a great property. The location is amazing given that you know what to expect. Located in the Captain Cook area, it wont be the closest if you want to golf or do other similar activities every day. However, you get such an amazing & quiet experience. If you want a beach to swim with barely anyone around, great hikes nearby, coffee farms and the Volcano Park closer than if you stayed around Kona, this might be the place for you.
The location is far enough away from the resort type stuff and perfect for a relaxing get away. We recommend Minehune coffee, and Da Poke Shack, South Kona Fruit Stand was amazing as well. We saw amazing sunsets right off the deck of the house!
Close to Pebble Beach
quiet , comfortable nice view but too many mosquitoes
