Kona Makai 3102: Oceanview Condo w/ Shared Pool & Hot Tub

This was a nice and quiet place to stay with my little family of 3. Very peaceful and beautiful. Location was great getting to and from places. There were beach towels, sand toys, chairs, umbrellas, even a wagon to use. The host even supplies the house with 2-3 days worth of coffee, laundry detergent, dish pods, and paper products.

Nice condo, close to everything and very comfortable. Great communication with the owner.

We stayed here for a total of 10 days, I had little children with me, oldest being 5 and youngest being 4 months. We loved our stay! There are a lot of rules for children at this property but they also aren’t hard to follow, only ones that difficult with children is not allowing them to jump into the pool.However, our room was great, everything was in working condition, the property is incredibly beautiful and the air conditioning units were a life saver on the hot days! Gather vacations is also very easy to get ahold of, we had some painting being done during our stay that we weren’t aware of, so for 3 days we couldn’t use our lanai. But we were able to contact gather vacations very easily! Definitely would stay at one of their properties again!

We stayed for 14 nights. Our condo was as pictured and described on VRBO. We had a beautiful view and the grounds are beautiful. The pool and hot tub were great.The kitchen was well stocked with all the needed dishes and utensils. The closet of beach supplies was well stocked. The area is beautiful.

We enjoyed our stay in this unit. The owner has done a great job of preparing it with everything needed for a Hawaiian vacation. The only issue is the lack of an oceanview. There is a nice view of the ocean from the patio but that is it. The views from the pool area are great. Overall a nice place to stay and a good value. I would give it a 4.5.

We stayed for 9 nights. The condo is located in great location for us, clean and very quiet, except the AC is very loud in the bedroom that woke us up all night. The beach chairs and ice boxes are very convenience. There no designated parking space and it’s quite a walking distance to the unit. We enjoyed staying in this unit, nice lanai. Unfortunately, after we got home and realized that we left some sentimental clothings behind (hanging behind the bathroom’s door), and we contacted VRBO and the local team, hoping they can ship them to us in California, but they said, the housekeeper didn’t find anything left behind. Very disappointed.

Our stay in Kona felt like home away from home. The communication with the property manager was great and the services provided were excellent. I recommend staying with VRBO in Kona to friends and family, and I would recommend staying here on any published review.

The furniture in this unit is super comfortable with a recliner and comfy couch, not your typical wicker seating. The kitchen was well-equipped including some spices, condiments, and even popcorn. The only complaint would be that the unit air conditioners struggled to keep unit cool (especially in living room), but that is not a deal breaker. Also, location of unit was great. Close enough to see the ocean but not overlooking the pool. Also, the balcony on this unit had shade pretty much all the time, which made is super useable.

The kitchen is small but includes all the utensils and tools for cooking. The bathroom is large with great counter space and the water pressure from the shower is FANTASTIC!! The view from the balcony is very nice. Quiet space and great for relaxing

If you enjoy a quiet place to come back to after a day at the beach, a snorkel in the ocean or a beautiful bike ride, Kona Makai is your place. Add to that one of the better spots on the island to watch the sunset, and well, it is a wonderful property. The unit we were in was nicely accommodated as is the entire property. The parking was plentiful. The pool and hot tub were great. As was the common area with multiple gas grills, ping pong table and shared kitchen. We enjoyed our stay at Kona Makai very much.

Enjoyed our stay at the Kona Makai. Grounds were lovely, location was good and within walking distance of the Kona shops. Unit was clean and well appointed. The listing indicating a recent upgrade was overstated, not clear what the upgrades might have been, but after we adjusted, we enjoyed our stay.
