First off, the location is handy in that you can easily get to many sites in the area and walk across the street to the best grocery in the area. The setting is idyllic and feels remote except for the nearby cars. You can sit in lounge chairs on the large expensive lawn. The lovely unit is perfectly set up with a nice kitchen and everything you need. Peggy and Ken are welcoming and generous with their fruit. I am interested in plants and Peggy gave me a tour of the farm which I found fascinating. All and all, this was perfect little home for me!
The property is beautiful and private. The host was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the area. It was fun to get a tour of the farm. The ohana was comfortable and had everything needed. It was a treat to stay right between Hawi and Kapa’au.
Clean, peaceful, friendly
The cottage was attached to the garage and it was always quiet. Beautiful views from the kitchen table when having morning coffee. They have chickens, ducks, cows, sheep and maybe some things I didn't see. The north end of the island doesn't have any of the out of control drunk tourists that the resorts have. Always a breeze. If you need AC then you should choose another property. There is a grocery store right across from the property. Within 5 minutes of driving, there are places to eat. Not big restaurants. King's View cafe has great food and drinks. It's directly across from King Kamehameha statue and visitor center. Too many nature adventures to list here. The host was so friendly and took us on a tour of the farm. If you like quiet, this is your place. All you hear is the frogs at night.
This was wonderful, beautiful setting. Friendly and helpful owners. We will likely stay here again on our next trip to Hawaii.
We enjoyed our stay so much!! The cottage is everything you need, want, and more! The property is beautiful and the views are breathtaking! Another added touch is the host Peggy. She is very welcoming and helpful! I would highly recommend this place can’t want to visit again!!
This is a quiet and beautiful spot to stay in the northern area of the island. Peggy was warm, welcoming and full of information. We would love to stay there again.
So much more then a typical VRBO experience.
Down-shift from the hectic pace of Honolulu. My husband and I wanted a way to celebrate our anniversary with a restful yet memorable getaway. We couldnt be more happy with the Cozy Cottage in Kapa'au!
What can I say, Peggy and Ken made me feel like a guest in their home. The cottage is as advertised. The bed was amazing. The gentle breezes lulled me to sleep and I was able to eat all my meals in the home. the grocery is a 3 minutes walk to the end of the driveway. Everything you need to cook is there and they provided fresh fruit and lemonade. If you want to be away from the tourists and just relax, this is the place. I am a little hesitant to tell people about this place to keep it to myself but that wouldn't be right. I got up early every morning and hiked down Polulu Valley and had it to myself. This is also not a bad place for honeymooners either. Mahalo Peggy and Ken.
A great place to catch your breath, so peaceful great host.
Every stay at this property has been comfortable and relaxing. The hosts are the best ( all of them!)
Peggy and Kent are the bests hosts. So warm and friendly. The apartment so nice and homey. Fresh fruit off the trees. Beautiful grounds. We didn’t want to leave. Aloha
We had a wonderful stay at this charming and lovely cottage. The studio unit had everything we needed plus the beautiful green yard with palm trees to look out was very special. The hosts were very gracious to make us feel welcome. We felt very fortunate to have spent a week at this special cottage. We hope to return next year.
The property is beautiful. The room is a studio but, very comfortable with nice extra touches. Hawi is small. Still, there were a few things within walking distance. Lots of beautiful unspoiled Hawaii very near by.
Close to Kohala beaches a home away from home.
We loved our visit to the Big Island and staying at the Cozy Cottage. The setting was lovely, Peggy was an excellent host, and the location provided easy access to town. We highly recommend staying at the cozy cottage.
The setting was so beautiful. A lush, expansive, grassy lawn surrounded by gorgeous tropical trees and shrubs, a few ducks and hens roaming peacefully around the grounds. Very quiet, private, and peaceful. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed to cook a light meal or to just sit and relax. Peggy and Ken were wonderful hosts, checking in from time to time to see if they could help us in any way. We'll certainly be back.
Lovely property! Peggy was so sweet and left me some tea and bruschetta in the the room and gave a quick your. I ended up getting sick but it was a great place to recover. They were very responsive and helpful. I enjoyed hanging out in the hammock, the amazing vegetation and the sweet animals! And the grocery store is so very close! Loved my stay here!
Comfortable studio with all we needed, and more, on a quiet and beautiful farm/ estate. Fine homebase for North Kohala explorations!
This was much more than a residential rental and far beyond my expectations. It was an experience. In addition to a well appointed unit ideally suited to a single traveler or a couple was a beautiful, lush, well kept and managed country farm. Hens with little chicks scurrying across an expansive lawn, an occasional duck joining in, and a botanical depth hard to describe were all your view from the kitchen table. Stroll the grounds farther to view goats and the sheep. The on-site host was welcoming and eager to share in the workings of the operation. The property was very easy to find, and also convenient to local stores, shops restaurants, and historical sites. I was sad to leave and would return in a heartbeat. Treat your self to this one.
Wonderful cottage on farm nearby historic sites. Nearby snorkeling at Mokukona and Spencer. Nice swimming and hanging out at Spencer and Hapuna. Not for everyone if you aren't looking for a quiet farm setting. It's home to world's sweetest dog, Sushi. Overall, 5 stars.
This was the perfect, cozy, safe spot for my daughter and I to stay during our spring break getaway. Thank you!
Quiet, comfortable, country retreat. Great home base to explore the North Kohala area. Peggy, our host took us on a wonderful tour of their 25 acre farm and sent us off with some delicious avocados and herbs. We loved our memorable stay! ThanksPeggy!
We had such a wonderful stay! Peggy and Ken are warm, kind, good spirited people. Peggy surprised us with fresh Starfruit, avocados, apple bananas, and lilikoi. We never had Starfruit before and we were hooked, ate it everyday for breakfast. Their property is stunning and well maintained. We took a tour and met the goats, sheep, and cows. My daughter fell in love with Suishi, their sweet and friendly dog. Would definitely love to stay here again! Thank you for sharing your happy place with us.
We had a wonderful time at the farm. The studio was very clean and Peggy was a perfect host.
Beautiful property in the very very north of the Big Island. Quiet at night, amazing view of the stars.
Amazingly generous hosts. Beautiful property with citrus fruit to pick/ eat fresh. Groceries right across the street. Lots of beautiful places to explore and access beach/ watching for whales. Cute little town of Hawi nearby, quiet an away from hustle of Kona. Great access Rds to Waimea / Hamakua Coastline. Very highly recommended stay!
This was our best stay on the entire island. The farm was gorgeous and the owners were easily the nicest people we had encountered on our trip. The room was perfect...clean, quiet, and private. We had an issue with a rental property prior to our stay at this location and needed to adjust our stay for an extra day (earlier), and the owners were very accommodating and communicated extremely well (effectively rescuing us from where we were staying before). They even gave us a tour of their farm. I would stay there again for sure, and would recommend this rental to anyone visiting the island.
It was just what we where looking for...a relaxing non resort after 5 days in 2 resort hotel on the water.Good bed ,kitchen and shower.Beautiful tropical setting.....Views of the Green grass and trees...the hosts Peggy and Ken where wonderful and very helpful. A Full Market across the street and 4 or 6 good places to eat close by within 5 minutes or much less.
Owners were very helpful and friendly. They provided great recommendations for hikes and restaurants. They provided us fresh fruit 🍌 picked from their trees. An extremely green and peaceful place. Comfortable and private studio.
The cottage and grounds are lovely. Clean, well-maintained, tranquil, beautifully landscaped, conveniently located, and private. An exceptional value. We stayed two nights. Our hosts could not have been nicer. Highly recommend.
Loved Peggy and the farm. Beautiful place in quiet town.
We had a very nice stay at the "farm" and the host, Peggy was gracious and helpful.
