Host communicated well and great location but the space could use some updating and TLC.
Very pleasant - fully equipped!
Great location, responsive host, good amenities. Just a nice place overall!
Host was very welcoming. Nice view but road noise was excessive. A few items are needed such as can opener and mixing and microwave safe bowls although we didn't contact host for these items.
Kevin was always available if any issues arose. House is quite rustic but that works for us.
The host was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. The property was just right for all of us. The location met our needs to be close to other family.
Great hosts, amazing views, and spacious room and bathroom.
Perfect for our one night before heading to north shore. Very nice host.
Peaceful and convenient stay! knocked out so many places I wanted to see so quickly with this location. Kekaha beach is literally across the street. There’s a big sale really close by and a lot of food options. After my experience on the north side, I will say that I still think this location made my days easier. Thanks!!
We loved the place and the host.
The views are amazing and the house was very clean. It is a bit dated, but not an issue because it is well kept. The only issue was how warm the house was. 2 window units were present. The main bedroom was fine but the living area was very warm. We were told to turn them off if gone for over an hour so after returning from a long day the inside was extremely uncomfortable. It wasn’t until the sun set that it started to cool off. This area doesn’t have much in the way of restaurants and activities either, but fine for one or two nights.
Comfortable bed. Bathroom and Kitchen were clean enough. Appreciated the A/C as it got hot in the apartment in the afternoon. It was private enough as the apartment doesn't share a wall with the second unit.
Awesome location. Loved getting up early, having coffee on the deck overlooking the beach, walking along the shore. King size bed was very comfortable. Kevin was very helpful. We will stay here again when we return to visit family in Kakaha.
Nice icean view. Did not use laundry. New kitchen appliances.
The beach view was stunning. We walked directly across the street for the sunset. Kevin was very attentive and available for questions, and provided us with beach chairs which was very much appreciated. He also let us stay past checkout time which made the morning relaxing.
really enjoyed our stay!
Great & convenient with lots of amenities available
Beautiful view! Host was available and helpful. AC was necessary at night, but the open window breezes were wonderful during day hours.
This was a great place to stay with amazing ocean views and lots of space to spread out for two people. Would definitely stay here again. We lost one night of our stay due to the tsunami evacuation and we were so bummed we didn’t get to experience it for the full two nights. No fault of the hosts at all - just Mother Nature doing her thing.
We enjoyed our stay in Kekaha- it’s a bit remote, but loved our view and beach access. Older, but super clean. Kevin was great.
Kevin and Pam were excellent hosts. They were very accommodating and even let us drop off some chocolate so they didn't melt before our check in time. Even the shower has a great view! This property was clean and convenient to Waimea Canyon and also our meeting point for our Na Pili Coast early morning snorkel trip. Thank you for a great, reasonably priced place to stay for an evening.
Kevin was awesome and so full of aloha! The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable! The bathroom was exceptionally clean and beautiful! I will stay again in the future. Mahalo nui loa!Poni
Comfy rooms and very accommodating hosts. Superior location, right across the road from sandy coastline. Food and sundries are a short drive away. When we next stay on the west side, this is where we'll be looking to book. Mahalo for an excellent stay!
A great spot with an amazing view. Host is very responsive and helpful and wants to make sure you have a great time.
Two words: STAY HERE! Kevin and Pam’s hale in Kekaha made for a relaxing stay on Kaua‘i’s west side. The whole place was clean, spacious, comfortable, and the owners graciously had beach equipment available to borrow (snorkels, masks, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc.). Kevin was stellar about meeting me for check-in and giving recommendations about things to do nearby. The home was easy to find (even at night) and parking was easy, too. Although there was AC, I didn’t use it too often because the temperatures were comfortable. The front windows had expansive ocean views and breezes, which I loved seeing while making breakfast or unwinding each night before bed.Their hale is near a long stretch of walkable beach in Kekaha (perfect for sunsets), nearby to swimming and activities on the west side (Salt Pond Beach Park, Waimea’s many shops, Port Allen’s boat trips to the Na Pali coast, Kaua‘i Coffee Company, and Hanapepe’s Art Night on Fridays), and VERY close by to all the hiking and sightseeing of Waimea Canyon and Koke‘e State Park (about an hour’s drive up the mountain). It’s also not too far off from all the beaches and activities on the south shore in Koloa and Po‘ipu – but once you’re back home after days of swimming, hiking, or sightseeing, you’ll have a calm space in a quiet neighborhood where you can sleep well, away from the hustle and bustle of other tourist-y areas. SO glad I got to stay here not too long ago. Thank you again!
Charming island style apartment with amazing views of ocean from the deck and living room and mountains from the bedroom. Decor is older, but everything is lovingly maintained and meticulously clean. Kitchen stocked with all the essentials. Comfortable king size bed. Big beautiful bathroom. Hosts were willing to accommodate our travel needs. The road is busy, but the ever present sound of surf and the breeze blowing through the house masks it all. Excellent location close to Koke'e and Polohale State Parks.
The property had a great ocean view and was very clean. The rental people were very kind. I wish there was more detail and pictures in the advertisement
Couldn’t have been happier with the unit, location, and hosts. Would absolutely come back!
My family of 4 stayed here, and enjoyed our stay with Kevin very fu
We stayed here for a night because we had to be in Waimea early for a boat ride. The host was great. Provided beach chairs, which we used to view a beautiful sunset. Although we didnt use them, there we ample boogie boards that could be used at the beach aceoss road
Clean and comfortable. You can hear the ocean!
We stayed here the first few days of our trip and it was awesome. Great location, great host and loved everything about our stay. We will be back!
Kevin very friendly and willing to help.Right across from a beautiful walkable beach with beautiful sunrises and sunsets.Close to Waimea town, cabins and Waimea canyon. As expected, further from most popular attractions but we liked our location.Plenty of towels and chairs for beach.Chairs at dining table could be improved.Could be cleaner. Curtains could be easier to use.Laundry and grills listed as amenities could be easier to access.Needs better lighting on stairs
We had an amazing stay here! It's a quiet part of the island and a great headquarters to explore this side of Kauai. We had easy access to town, to hikes, to Waimea canyon, etc. I highly recommend staying here for at least a couple days to enjoy Kauai's natural beauty. The beaches nearby are AMAZING, and this side of the island is unlike any part of the island. Be aware, this side is quieter than other parts, so food etc is a bit more limited, and you will likely not be able to catch an Uber etc if that's something you intend to do. But that's okay! Take some time here to enjoy the beaches, a wonderful view, and a quiet gorgeous experience of Kauai. Our hosts were very helpful and their property was very comfortable and wonderful.
We are very satisfied with our stay. Had everything we needed and perfect location
Clean, spacious, and an ocean view. Kevin was a great host and very easy to communicate with. The location is great for accessing the Waimea Canyon and the ocean is right across the road from the house. The deck has a fantastic ocean view. The bed is enormous and very comfortable. 10 out of 10. Would definitely stay again.
very clean. across from ocean. complete kitchen equipment. a bit funky but we liked it. great beach a few steps away. fishing good right across the street.
We spent two weeks in Kauai with the first week at a resort on the northeast shore, and the second week staying at this VRBO in Kekaha. The combination worked out nice but next time we’d just come straight to Kekaha and enjoy the great beaches and quieter community. Kevin was a great host and we appreciated the access to chairs and beach toys. The property is along a busy two lane road that carries a lot of traffic; however the close proximity to beach just across the street, easy access/parking, and the second story location with a balcony table and view of the sunrise/sunset over looking the beach and view/sound of the waves was unbeatable. It was just two of us for this visit and worked well. It is an older apartment, but everything we needed including the newly remodeled kitchen was working well, there were lots of linens and beach blankets, and we enjoyed the louvered style windows and air flow that avoided needing to use the new air conditioner in the bedroom so we could listen to the waves at night. (Kevin was rushing to get it replaced before we arrived, but we never needed it!) We look forward to visiting again in the future.
Location, location--this is ocean front property. The interior was clean and updated. Kevin was an informative and helpful host. However, we must add that loud, strange sounds were heard nearly all night long, strange moaning with swearing, seemingly coming from a unit below. It was bizarre and rather frightening. None of the four of us were able to sleep.
Great view of ocean and easy access to beach.
Great views, great place, great host.
Had a wonderful experience thanks to owner. He upgraded our room and we even had to catch plane @10pm and he let us stay the day as it wasn't yet booked that date. Nice oceanfront spot. Very relaxing - amenities like Ice Chest/ Umbrellas / Beach Chairs all available and convenient.
Booking was simple. Communication; flawless. Location; easy to find. Hospitality; awesome. Upon check-in, greeted by host - Kevin. The minute we walked, it felt like home. All the amenities you need. The evening was serene, gazing at the stars. Highly recommend.
It was a great stay. The check in was easy and we could check in any time we wanted. The location is so beautiful. You are staying directly at the ocean. From your balcony you have an incredible view over the ocean. They provide some surf and snorkel gear for you, which is really cool. The host made sure, that we had everything we want. I totally recommend a stay at this location. If there is a next time we will stay there for sure. Thanks for the wonderful time.
Fantastic
The air conditioner in the bedroom was not working. Only 1 air conditioner was working and it did not cool the entire area. Kekaha is a very hot place and we always insist before we rent about having air conditioners. We could not sleep in the bedroom because it was too warm.
Good peoples and great studio. Would have liked to stay entire time but had other reservations for remainder of trip.
enjoyed our stay
Host Kevin was great, friendly and communicated great. The room was spacious with a small but efficient kitchen, bathroom was fine. Out main gripe was outside the room on the property. Junk everywhere, felt like a hoarders backyard. The pool is empty. This place would look so much better if a container or 2 or 3 would show up and throw all the junk away. Still recommended though!
The location was excellent; however the condition of the property was not. The electrical was funky, sometimes a light would come on, sometimes not. It's dark and dated. None of the louvered windows were operable for fresh air citlrculation; however, there were 2 window AC units. The grounds are in dire need ofmaintenance.
Mixed… we haven’t had super high expectations, we booked it to be close to the canyon. We agreed on having the lower flat, but this I can’t recommend. You have not really ocean view, it’s dark, equipment is aged, it’s loud from the street and not always clean. Bathroom and towels were fine. Backyard is messy. We looked to the apartment on first floor and this is much better. Kevin is a friendly person and open for feedback.
The host was very responsive and nice. Parking available on site and right by Waimea Canyon
We rented the first floor studio connected to the main living area. I want to give an honest review without it sounding like I’m bashing the place. We absolutely had everything we needed… fully stocked kitchenette and fridge, full bath, TV, comfortable bed, air conditioning, and access to washer/dryer. But I do want to point out a few things I wish I had known before booking. First, there is no privacy in this unit, all the windows allow other tenants to easily look in. Second, this property is right on the road and super noisy from traffic all night long. Third, we could hear the people in the attached unit fighting on two separate occasions. Lastly, not everything was as clean as I prefer (e.g., the blinds were filthy, the bathroom walls were smeared, the tv was grimy). The owners is a friendly and personable guy, so no disrespect to anyone personally, just being totally honest.
The best place to stay on this side of the island! Desirable location, close to restaurants, Kaluala Valley lookout and Waimea Canyon. Would recommend and stay here again.
Ocean waves and sunsets from your living room. Somewhat dated with older amenities. Kevin the owner checked us in, a friendly guy who's available to help onsite.
Our stay was great! Kevin was extremely friendly and nice. House is a little bit far from the center but thanks to that is much more local and it’s closer to other side of the island. Probably everyone has a car so it is not an issue. If you want to feel like home in Hawaii you should visit!
