Hono Kai C8 is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo that offers tropical views from the 3rd floor and high-vaulted ceilings. This property does not have an elevator. Unit C8 can accommodate up to 6 guests. Both the master and guest bedrooms are furnished with a queen-size bed. There is a lounge area with a TV in the loft area for your enjoyment. Off of the lounge area, you can find the en suite bathroom designed with a bathtub/shower combo. The other bathroom can be found on the 1st floor, next to the front door. For additional sleeping space, there is a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room. The well-stocked kitchen is convenient for making meals in-house. Dine in on the indoor dining table or outside on your private lanai. This condo cools itself with 1 A/C window located in the upstairs loft bedroom window.
The owners have provided an air mattress for the sleeper sofa found attached to the frame that can be blown up using a remote blower.
Hono Kai is a beachfront property where you can enjoy a 6-mile stretch of beach with views of Haleakala and Kaho'olawe, an oceanfront pool, and BQQ areas. Additionally, there is a coin-operated laundry facility for your convenience. Hono Kai is located at Ma'alaea Bay near many attractions, shops, and restaurants. Walk to the Aquarium, enjoy exciting activities from the nearby harbor, play miniature golf and more at Maui Golf & Sports Park, or shop at the Maui Harbor Shops. Ma'alaea is located in central Maui, bringing you closer to either side of the island.

We arrived to a door that has been clearly broken into. Needs to be replaced. The condo does not overlook the ocean. It’s very small. 4 people max. Cockroaches and cockroach larva everywhere. Needs to be more clear of what you are getting when you rent at this location. It was fine as we didn’t come to Maui to sit in a condo. Wouldn’t stay here again.
This place was very clean and had everything we needed and more. It is very well located close to the main places we wanted to go like Haleakalā and several beaches. And we had an amazing and beautiful beach right there behind the condo to end our day relaxing. I would definitely come back to this condo without a doubt.
We enjoyed our stay at our unit in Hono Kai. It was spacious, very clean, and had all the items needed for a comfortable stay. It was great to have the beach towels and chairs. Our children enjoyed the pool and easy access to the beach.
Wonderful stay. We had some very violent storms that ran through the island. Kihei got devastated by it, yet Maalaea Bay was much better sheltered from the intensity. It is well located to feel privacy yet midway between main areas to visit. Loved having the towels made available for use. Great sitting out by the pool drinking and relaxing on the beach
Three days before our arrival we were informed of a bug problem on the island. That was understandable, as it's common to find water bugs around the house in humid environments. The house also had multiple rat traps within reach of my toddler, and I wasn't informed of a rat problem. The AC in the unit barely cooled off the top room and the place was so uncomfortably hot during the day that we couldn't be there. At night it was still hot but we were okay. The upstairs bathroom had some sort of sewage problem during our stay and the whole place smelled of sewage. Even after the guys outside fixed something, our upstairs bathroom (where the kids took baths) smelled so bad we had to keep the door shut the rest of our stay and only use that bathroom briefly for baths. The company stayed in touch the whole time and I also informed them of the sewage smell, the water bugs and the accessible rat traps. I wouldn't stay here again.
The location was perfect for us. Central location but in a quiet area. While the furnishings are a bit dated, the unit was clean and comfortable. We were able to do some whale watching and snorkeling from the beach access. Communications were excellent, we really had no complaints.
Smoke free, well maintained, on-site staff was friendly and had great attitudes. Beautiful view!
Perfect location and amenities!
We had an excellent stay at Hono Kai C8. High points: Comfortable beds! This is my top booking priority. The ratings were accurate and the beds were great. The mattress on the sleep sofa is a memory foam type and was easily the best I’ve slept on. Ease of access. We were able to get into the unit easily and no trouble getting around. Location while not having many amenities in the immediate area, Ma’alaea Harbor was centrally located to everything we wanted to do on the island and never more than 20-30 minutes from most restaurants. 15 minutes from the airport too! Beach stuff. Loved having the chairs, cooler, and towels. Thank you! Parking. We never had trouble finding parking. The property manager was right on top of anyone parking without a permit. We appreciated knowing we’d always have a place to park. Probably my only complaint and it’s minor was the A/C. It cooled portions of the condo but at night the bedrooms remained warm while the living room was cooled from the downflow of the fan pushing the ac. We bought a table fan for upstairs which helped a lot. I think a couple of large box fans would help cool the entire apartment quite well and not make the AC have to work so hard. We did fine but it could be better. Highly recommend making sure the blinds are shut tight during the day to keep the sun out.
Great stay near Maalaea Harbor. Close to Kihei and the property managers were great with communication.
