We had a wonderful stay at this property. The location was great for accessing beaches and a short drive to town (a car is a must). The beach towels and beach chairs were very helpful. The noise of the dogs and roosters are significant but the white noise machine and air conditioner noise are helpful. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay.
Not many views like this…. If you have the opportunity take it! The hunting dogs on certain nights are no big deal, you can’t hear anything when ac is running in the bedroom.
Beautiful oasis to enjoy Kauai’s North shore.
The view is what stood out. It’s a nice place but could use some updates in the kitchen. Master bedroom was very nice and clean. The only draw back was they had an ant problem in the kitchen. We took care of it with some raid that we found under the sink. Toilet in master bath needs some maintenance it would keep running sometimes
Wonderful Peaceful. Clean. Perfect spot for North Shore vacation. BEST views from house that I have ever stayed at. 10/10
Beautiful view. I can't say that enough, it has an amazing view. High top in a valley surrounded by lush tropical palms and trees. Birds flying through. Bordered by high green mountain all around. The lanai is large. The house is small only one bedroom, perfect for a couple. Not high end but very nice and cozy. It is away from the crowds a tourists. It is deep into north coast of Kauai.
The views alone make this 5 stars. Location is quiet and beautiful. Proximity to Tunnels was great. We had everything we needed. AC in the bedroom was fantastic. The dogs others have mentioned do bark like mad at times and it can be a bit annoying. If you are very squeamish about nature, this is probably not the right place for you, but we love it and enjoyed our stay very much.
Beautiful property! The view from every window and the balcony is breathtaking! This property is in the jungle, so there will be bugs, it’s inevitable. As long as you understand that jungle bugs, you will have an amazing time at this property! We also really enjoyed the location, being
We had a wonderful stay the views are breathtaking!
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very beautiful and comfortable. The location was very convenient to both Hā’ena and Hanalei. The location truly gives you the feel of being on a jungle mountain everything was very lush and beautiful. The only downside to the property is some amount of barking from local hunting dogs. Indoors the barking was not noticeable. Overall this was a wonderful stay!
the views are inspirational, breathtaking, and serene. loved every second of it.
Excellent all the way around. Exactly as it’s presented. No surprises. Loved it! We will be back!
A wonderfully stocked house in a gorgeous setting. A screened lanai offered great early morning coffee and late evening dinner/drinks. Wonderful art work & pottery displayed. Multiple fans throughout the house helped keep us cool. The bed was so comfortable and the AC in the bedroom was very much appreciated to cool down the heat of the day. And it was close to several excellent beaches, great restaurants, a local market which had lots to offer, bigger markets in Hanalei... all in all, a great location.
Definitely a unique property, unlike any other, the elevated living level was located up above the forest floor and provided privacy and views. The layout was open and the number of windows, screened porch and orientation towards the valley and mountains beyond made it enjoyable to stay there.
Beautiful private location, close to everything on the north shore with a spectacular view from the screened lanai. We enjoyed the table on the lanai for breakfast with a lovely view, & the hammock is a nice touch! Kitchen is very well stocked, there are plenty of towels, and the bed is comfortable. We appreciated having a second bathroom, washer & dryer, a little cooler outside, and ice packs in freezer. When we arrived the house felt stuffy so we opened doors and windows to let the breeze blow through the screens. The house cooled quickly, but the indoor lights attracted lots of tiny bugs which came through the screens. We closed everything up and mostly kept it that way. There were still tiny ants in the house. We appreciated the little basket of insect repellent out on the lanai. A spray of ant killer around the kitchen baseboards and at along the threshold between the lanai & kitchen helped keep the ants at bay. The morning we were leaving I opened the silverware drawer and tiny ants scattered under the tray. That one bothered me, so I did call & let the management know. It is a lush tropical forest near the river so I guess bugs go with the territory. House was pretty clean. Closing windows and running the air conditioner in the bedroom along with room fans kept things comfortable and helped block out outside noise of roosters and barking dogs. Overall, clean enough to be comfortable, very well stocked, private, amazing view, great convenient location.
Beautiful secluded house. The gunshots outside were the only scary and awkward situation. The property itself was amazing!
The house itself is awesome! The location is so cool - with views of the mountains and all the greenery. The art inside the house was a wonderful surprise. Based on other reviews I was nervous about the dogs barking, but we didn't find it bad at all.
If you're lucky enough to find this available book it now. You won't find anywhere else as nice.
Amazing location. The views and privacy were fantastic. Checked in after dark, easy to find with provided instructions. Not the most immaculate on cleanliness, but it wasn't anything detrimental. Was very much worth it.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Spacious well equipped home set high above the lush Wainiha Valley. Large screened porch allow you to enjoy the sights and sounds of Kauai’s north shore. Be prepared to be waken at sunrise by the plentiful roosters.
This is a great place to stay! It is absolutely beautiful.
We had a great time at the Nohonani house. Overall the place is very nice. The screened porch was wonderful for sitting and viewing the mountains completely bug free! The AC in the bedroom was a great addition. Not only does it cool the room for sleeping but it is noisy enough to cover the sound of the dogs barking at night. The barking isn't constant but it can be very loud. It was the one thing that might deter us from returning.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really enjoyed our stay at Nohonani! The location was a short bike ride from Tunnels/Makua Beach and Hāʻena State Park/Kēʻē Beach. We rented bikes in Hanalei (John at Bike Doktor) and easily accessed the beaches each day (don't forget to buy your Hāʻena State Park entry passes 30 days prior). The house was clean and beautifully maintained. We loved the ceramics/art throughout the house and the local books/library. Our favorite spot was the screened-in lanai and the hammock - a perfect spot for reading and enjoying the mountain views. There are lots of sounds about - roosters (of course), beautiful bird songs, and frogs too. And yes, as other reviews have mentioned, there are sounds of numerous dogs barking - sometimes frequently and at length (all hours). The white noise machines helped counter that, as well as the A/C unit that we ran before we went to bed and we used our earplugs as well (noise-cancelling headphones work too). All in all, we loved our stay, we hope to return, and would definitely recommend!
Wonder views of the mountains, valley and waterfalls. Strong Wi-Fi and very limited cellular. Screened in Lanai was the best part. Great outdoor shower to rinse off after a day on the beach. Keep the front screen and door closed to keep out the mosquitoes….especially around 5pm. Barking hunting dogs were a nuisance. Sound machine did help at night.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was as advertising. Very comfortable. Exceptional views of the mountains and clouds. Outside of town and very private. Loved it!
A great place to explore the north side of the island. Short drive to everything, and the wonderful, large screen porch for relaxing on a rainy afternoon.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: If you like to get away from people this is your place. We spent 12 nights here and spent most of our time just taking the views which are amazing. There are a few houses nearby but it is difficult to see them because of the lush environment. Would definitely stay here again.
We loved staying here. We had one very stormy day and it was delightful to watch the wind blowing, rain pouring down, the clouds blowing across the sky. We even enjoyed the night sounds the dogs barking, the bullfrogs singing into the night, topped off with the rosters crowing at the crack of dawn. Plus the many birds flitting about. The screened porch made this all possible! Great place- we always look for off the beaten track places- much more real.
The place was perfect. The surroundings were beautiful. The only problem was that there was a kennel next door and other nearby dogs that barked to each other all day and night. The property managers have put in sound canceling speakers so we were able to sleep. There was no mention of the dogs until we got there and read it in the folder that we “may occasionally hear the neighbors hunting dogs.” We wanted to love this place but I resented not knowing about the dogs ahead of time.
