We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful lodge in Hilo. Being tucked away in the secluded rainforest was such a gift — surrounded by the most gorgeous foliage, peaceful greenery, and the nighttime sounds of frogs and other little creatures that made it feel magical. The location couldn’t have been better. We were so close to Volcano National Park that when the volcano started erupting, we were able to hop in the car and get there quickly. Such an unforgettable experience! The home itself was quiet, spacious, and perfect for our family of five. We especially loved relaxing out on the screened lanai — enjoying the fresh air and the view without the bugs. It quickly became our favorite spot to unwind. We truly enjoyed everything about our stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Hilo area!
Linda’s house was beautiful! Its location was quiet and secluded. There were extra supplies that made it feel like home.
Everything was great!
This was a lovely home, tucked away in a very peaceful garden. The screened in porch with the sounds of nature made it very difficult to want to leave the house for activities. The house was very clean and comfortable. One bed was firm, the other more soft, which was nice to have options! Truly a magical space to stay!
I love this property a lot. Especially greenery around. We really spent 1-2 hours outside of the house in yard and outside. Thanks Linda for responding quickly.
Great location close to Volcano Nat’l Park and Hilo with a fabulous porch and very comfortable beds. Really appreciate that the drinking water was provided. Loved the rooster and enjoyed the fruits growing on the property including stardust, guava and oranges. We have family that will be returning over the next year and we’ve recommended Linda’s place.
Great location!
Beautiful home. Coziest beds I’ve slept in in a long time. The “backyard” was magical.
This place was heaven. Coming from a big city area, this place was quiet, peaceful, tranquil, and only about 20-25 minutes from most everything we wanted to see and do on the island. The host was helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had. We absolutely loved our stay here. I'm hoping to go back soon!!!
Setting was in a beautiful private landscape that felt like a miniature botanical garden. Just far enough away from town, not to be crowded, but close enough to Hilo to quickly visit. Host was easy to communicate with.
Great washer & dryer!
Quiet, well maintained property. The cleaning prior to our stay could have used a bit more focus (the bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned). The beds were excellent!
Like being in tropical heaven. Property is amazing and accommodations are conducive for total relaxation. Will stay here many more tines in the future.
Great all around property and location. Very clean, secluded and beautiful location, and centrally located between Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Hilo. Our family of 5 was very comfortable here and would definitely choose to stay again if we are in the area.
This house had everything we were looking for during our stay on the Big Island. We wanted a place close to both Volcanoes National Park and to the town of Hilo and this house fit the bill perfectly. Plenty of room for our family of 4. The kitchen was well stocked, the full size washing machine and dryer were great to have, and there were plenty of beach towels, blankets, and even a full size cooler to use. I was a little nervous about the temperate of the house since it doesn't have air conditioning. We stayed in late July / early August and the evenings were pleasantly cool. We had to close the windows and use the blankets at night as the evenings got down to the 60s. Would definitely stay here on again on a future trip. The host was quick to respond to the few questions I did have.
We immensely enjoyed our time in such a quiet and tranquil setting.
Property was beautiful and spotless, very nice tv and very cute. Host was so nice and accommodating, highly recommend!
Beautiful property and very comfortable beds.
I have lived in Hawaii and also stayed on vacation several times. Linda’s rainforest home is truly the most unique and peaceful stay I’ve had. The home is super clean, and comfortable. Location to volcano park is the best you can get outside the NP. We spent the day at the park, came back home for dinner, found out the volcano was erupting (thank you Linda!) and zipped back to the park to view the glow of red lava! Falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest is the best! You could spend hours just exploring the home’s beautiful rainforest surroundings! If you don’t stay here you’re missing out on the best of Hawaii. Shout out to Linda for being a super host and always responding quickly to questions! Mahalo! We hope to return someday!
If you are looking for a hidden gem, this is it. Not anything fancy or luxurious here. Beautiful rainforest surroundings. One thing, bring ear plugs, the nighttime creatures are very loud. Clise to Volcanoes National Park. Shopping needs in Kurtistown. Highly recommended for an inexpensive stay.
Fantastic stay!
Large comfortable cabin. Beautiful, heavily vegetated setting. The sounds of frogs and insects at night are amazing! Very private and relaxing. Convenient to sights at the National Park and the Hilo area.
Relaxing and peaceful!!!
Nice quiet home private
My family of 4 loved this rustic home. The property is gorgeous and we loved all the frogs, birds and sounds of nature. It’s secluded and private, but not too far from all the sights of the island. Plenty of drinking water was provided, as well as all other kitchen and bath amenities to make our stay comfortable. The screened in porch was a perfect hangout. Linda was a great host and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay here again!
Great location halfway between Hilo and Volcano. The property is away from main road and quiet. It is fenced in so kids can run around safely. There is a lot for them to explore. Make sure you take rain boots for the kids. Each bedroom has a king size bed. You will hear the coqui frogs every night. We loved the location and our stay there. I wish there was a dishwasher in the kitchen.
We loved our few days in this beautiful jungle setting. We enjoyed our time away from the hustle and bustle of the city and resorts and the privacy of the jungle setting. The screened in lanai was a wonderful place to relax and listen to all the birds, frogs and rain. The inside of the cabin was comfortable and cozy with ceiling fans that keep the temperature tolerable. The location between Hilo and Volcanoes National Park is great with it being about a 30 min drive to either place. We only had a few minor complaints/annoyances. The kitchen could be better stocked as we couldn’t find any baking pans or dishes, there wasn’t any salt, and for the life of us we couldn’t get the Keurig to work. We have a lot of experience with Keurigs, but the reusable cup would not work with the machine. There is a regular coffee pot. There are also only metal spatulas provided to use with the nonstick pans. It also seems as though it’s been awhile since the cabin has had a deep clean to get rid of cobwebs and dust. Overall, we would recommend staying here to our friends, but those few improvements would have made our stay a little more enjoyable.
we had a great time!
Was just as described in listing. Very nice location. Enjoyed stay.
This is a respite from the hustle of the resort world. The jungle is alive with its own vibes. Chicken's, frogs and occasional domesticated barks. Perfect for sampling this side of the island. Kilauea was flowing and less than 30 minutes away. Kaleo’s in Orchidland was awesome and close.
We stayed at the Lehua Lodge for two nights and it was an awesome experience! We loved how the lodge was in a secluded area surrounded by lush green plants! The place was spacious providing empty space to keep luggage. We also loved how she provided water so we wouldn't get dehydrated. The lodge was clean although we would have liked it if the couches were less dusty and cleaner. Overall, our stay was a wonderful experience and we would definitely come here again.pproviding an empty space to store lugg
The stay was wonderful my family really loved the place and will be back next year me and my husband live just down the road from the lodge and my husband mom and aunt and cousin came and stayed in the lodge and fell in love with it .so they will rent it again next year.
This place met all our expectations. We loved the screened in patio area! The grounds were so lovely! Plenty of room in the house. I highly recommend this place! We decided to do our vow renewal on the beautiful grounds!
This place was great for what we needed - a couple of nights stay wile touring Volcanoes National Park. It is cozy and quaint. Linda was very helpful with getting us to the popert in the dark. Go with her written directions and not the Google Maps directions and trh to get there when it is still daylight out !
We LOVED our stay at this cottage in the jungle. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The property is magical and so beautifully kept with amazing plants, trees, and flowers. We loved being off the beaten path and away from the tourist bustle. The cottage was the perfect size for our family of 4. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We loved that there were two king size beds. The outdoor shower was a delight. The frogs are loud at night but we enjoyed them (they are great background noise to sleep to). It’s close enough to both Hilo and Volcano Park that we could do all the sightseeing we wanted without too long of a drive. The owner was easy to communicate with. If you like being out in nature away from it all, this is the place for you!
Great place to kick back and relax , had everything we needed and was nice and clean . Son enjoyed the chickens and exploring the land the house sits on .
As mentioned in the listing, this place is a cozy getaway in the Ohia rainforest. While it's not a modern abode, its rustic charm is perfect if you’re looking for a country retreat. The water here comes from a catchment system, and even though we ran out on our third night, the host was super quick to refill our tank and fix a clogged filter issue. This spot is great if you want to escape city life, soak up some nature, and listen to the coqui frogs at night. It gives you a safe, secluded experience without missing out on basics like water, electricity, and internet.
At first it was hard for us Alaskans to deal with the heat. I assumed a hot state would have air conditioning in that area, turns out, most do not. The owner stated it would cool down when night hit and she was right, it became comfortable quickly. This place is beyond amazing, it felt like we were living in another world, every inch of the yard was magical and the sounds were so relaxing. Very clean place with everything you will need. 5 stars easy!
Nice quiet home away from home
This is a great house away from everything! Fairly close to the national park!
The home was very homey and comfortable. We just relaxed so much and it was close to family. We would stay again.
Lovely area, laundry a bonus, air cooling units a plus, fire detector battery needs changed, a few more towels would be nice, and an extra baking sheet also. A bit dusty and locks could use a spray of silicone regularly. Overall a nice place to stay.
We absolutely loved our stay! The location is perfect, right between Volcano National Park and Hilo. The grounds are amazing and the frogs sang us to sleep every night. The screened in porch is wonderful for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. The house is well maintained and very clean. Highly recommend.
Our family of four (two adults, two boys, 5 & 8) stayed here for 3 nights to explore the east side of the Big Island. We loved it! If you are a nature lover, you should definitely stay here. Every night, we played cards in the screened in porch and listened to the music of the frogs, birds, and other critters (truly special - you need to experience it yourself!). The cabin was the perfect size for us, had a great layout, and had a kitchen with everything we needed. Boys loved playing in the yard/garden and watching the chickens and other birds. I loved listening to the nightly rain on the roof, sipping Kona coffee on the porch, and enjoying the private garden atmosphere. It's close to Hawaii Volcano National Park, but also not too far from Hilo and other area sights. This is one of the most special and unique properties I've stayed in!
Great property. We loved the secluded rainforest surroundings. Spent plenty of time on the screened in porch. Not much in the ways of amenities/attractions nearby, but that was expected, and not necessarily a bad thing. Loved the outdoor shower too.
Very homey feeling Hawaii-style! The kitchen was great, I found everything I needed. The beds were big and comfortable, plenty of blankets for cool evenings in the rain forest. The cute little electric fire place was adorable and the family sat around it. Everything was so clean and welcoming. The washer and dryer were excellent for all the beach towels and laundry. very family friendly.
A fantastic property, very quiet and extremely private. It's like staying in your very own botanical garden!
This property is centrally located between Hilo and Volcano in a quiet neighborhood. It was a great location for going hiking in both Puna and Volcano (about a 20 minute drive to each, this is not really due to distance, just small roads that do not tolerate speed). It has beautiful gardens surrounding the place and a screen porch that you can sit on listening to the coqui frogs at night. While it is in a neighborhood of 2 acre lots, the landscaping makes it feel like you are miles and miles away from other people and you do not even hear road noise. It would be super for someone needing a quiet place to write or just decompress from the world. Some things to consider when booking this place (not complaints at all, just things to consider) are that it is only partially on grid with the water supply being a roof catchment. They do provide bottled water for drinking and ice so that is not an issue. The kitchen is quite functional (although there is no dishwasher, so dishes need to be handwashed) and we cooked dinner every night we stayed since the house is somewhat far from any restaurants or stores (stock up in Hilo before going to the house and you will be comfortable). The house does have internet that works quite well and on grid electric, and there was plenty of hot water for showers for the four of us. The two queen beds were both really comfortable and we had plenty of room for our family of four adult sized people.
