Air-conditioned Hanalei Hawaiian-style home

Excellent home, location cannot be beat. walked to the bay every morning(just a short little walk to the right when you leave the home) and then also just a short little walk around the corner and across the street to all the wonderful food the town has to offer. It gave freedom to our teenagers to walk in and out of town(or ride the bikes provided) or head to the beach! Our younger kids loved the ease of getting everywhere and the neighborhood kitties they got to help care for. Joan was the best host and so welcoming and kind. We saw rainbows and waterfalls daily from the front porch-this home and area is truly magical.

The house was lovely and the air conditioning was a very nice perk. It was well-stocked with beach and home essentials. The house is located very close to many of the Hanelei Bay restaurants, shops, etc. but is also in a quiet area, which is nice for evenings. It is also close to the beach. We enjoyed the cats and our host was very accommodating, especially when a communication mix-up changed our plans unexpectedly. I definitely recommend this home.

We loved our time staying at Joan's home. We are really having a difficult time back to real life and not being there anymore! The back lanai was a lovely spot to relax and read, rain or shine. We appreciated all of the beach gear, and our kid absolutely loved taking care of feeding the cats. The place is very spacious, kitchen is wonderful as is the AC! We hope to return soon.

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay at a more comfortable home. Every imaginable amenity was there - the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever had in a VRBO, chairs and bikes for the beach, and an incredible location. Our boys loved taking care of the cats too! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

We had an amazing time at the house with our family of four over two weeks. We could walk to town and the beach and it gave everyone in our family independence to walk home at any point. The street was not on a busy street and all the neighbors were friendly.

Traveling with an expectant mother and a one year old has its challenges but also its joys. So happy we had a nice home with air conditioning to make our stay comfortable. The two king beds and optional third worked out perfectly (very comfortable) and also nice to have 3 bathrooms and laundry. Couldn’t have done it any other way. Location perfect for walks to beach and town. Wish we could have extended our trip. Hope to make it back in near future.

Our host, Joan, is terrific. She responded to questions immediately, sent us timely reminders about trash and recycle pick-up, and left us several delicious treats in the refrigerator. Very thoughtful!

It is the perfect location between town and the beach. The space was perfect for 5 adults and they had all the equipment that we wanted - in the kitchen and sports equipment. The owner was very responsive and nice. I would say this is probably the best VRBO I've stayed in. I felt so at home and comfortable. I wish we had more time there - hopefully next year.

This house is wonderful and exceeded our expectations. It is well laid out and very nicely furnished. From the well stocked pantry to all the beach gear in the garage , we we’re well equipped ! A great location with an easy walk to the beach or down town Hanalei. Can’t wait to come back !

Wonderful location and spacious. Other than needing a fresh coat of paint the house is in wonderful condition. This home does feel more like someone’s home and less of a pure vacation rental, but that didn’t bother us. We enjoyed all of the animals and specifically the cats around the house

thank you for the lovely house to stay in beautiful Hanalei. We’ve been coming for 20 years now and it’s truly a majestic, soulful place that has captured my three kids hearts for sure. The house was so well equipped, thank you! The kitties have been fed daily and are so lovely.

We had such a lovely time and couldn’t have asked for a better location. The house was the perfect size for my family of 5 and the kitchen was truly the heart of the home which was perfect for gathering at the end of each day for a family dinner. Joan was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to our questions. We will definitely be coming back. And my family lived bonding with the kitties

The neighborhood is quiet, the house is close to the restaurants and markets. The Hanalei beach is close too. We used the house beach gears (chairs, umbrella, snorkels, towels). The kitchen is big and equipped we were able to cook our breakfast and dinner. The house has washer and dryer do we were able to wash our clothes after a muddy hike. The house has board games and puzzles - we had good family time playing together.

My family and i stayed at this property for the first time for 2 weeks. We just returned tonight. I have been visiting the island since my husband and I got married at the Princeville Resort (now 1 Hanalei Bay) in 1999. I absolutely loved this property as did my entire family! So much so that we already booked for next year. The house is immaculate and has everything you need for cooking, for relaxing, and especially for the beach. Included in this amazing propery is snorkeling gear, beach chairs, and umbrella for the beach foe those really sunny days when youve had too much sun, a wagon to carry all of thia to the beach, boogie boards, and beach toys if you have little ones!And i cannot say enough good things about the hosts - Joan and Tanya! They took such good care of ua and addressed every MINOR problem we had. And i say MINOR in all caps because thats what they were. But anything we needed or questions we had, were addressed immediately. And lastly, the location in Hanalei is perfect. If you like Hanalei and the true old feel of Hawaii...thia is your place.

Joan's property was fantastic. Being able to walk to both the beach and shops/restaurants was perfect. The house was very comfortable and Joan was very accommodating. The beach equipment in the garage, particularly the boogie boards for our kids and paddle board for the adults was awesome. 10/10 would stay here again.

We visited Hanalei for my son’s Spring Break and had the most perfect stay in Joan’s house. The house is cozy, modern, well equipped and perfectly located. Joan was quick to communicate and very accommodating. We could not have asked for a better home for our Spring Break.

We have stayed in Hanalei several times and this house was the most convenient for walking to coffee, shopping, markets and restaurants - Literally a 3 minute walk! We found the house to be very comfortable, although we did feel it was in need of some freshening up (new stove and oven and kitchen floor mats, specifically). We loved the cats (luckily we are a cat-obsessed family!) and they kept us entertained. We cooked a lot during our stay and had some issues with a couple of appliances due to their age, but Joan was responsive and couldn't have been more accommodating. I expect these appliances will be fixed/updated for the next guests. We enjoyed all our meals on the back lanai. We would have liked the backyard to be better appointed with some seating because it was a lovely setting. We ran out of propane after the first dinner, so we didn't use the grill after that. (The extra tanks in the garage felt empty, but maybe they weren't). The roosters didn't bother us. Anyway, all in all we had a great time in our Happy Place, Hanalei! I hope we left the home in good shape for the next guests. Thank you, Joan!

Let me start my saying the property owner seems very nice and is very responsive. The house itself is weathered, in need of an update and a deep cleaning. It is very well located, right near town and about an 8 minute walk to the beach if you’re lugging equipment. I would recommend you like cats if you stay here. When we arrived there were about five plus cat beds, scratching posts along with tons of cat nip on the porch. The property owner had it moved when I asked but the outdoor doesn’t feel very clean and floors aren’t mopped and the furniture is not very clean. Overall we didn’t spend any time on the lanais or anywhere in the backyard because of this. That was quite disappointing. The house is well laid out and the size is comfortable but again, it doesn’t didn’t feel very clean. Wish I had a better review for it and hopefully it will get a deep cleaning in the future.

We love this house in Hanalei and have stayed here multiple times. It is comfortable, very well maintained and in a great location - close to town and an easy walk to the beach. The owner is wonderful and really cares about the guest experience.

We can't say enough great things about this home, we actually thought about skipping a review to keep it our little secret! :) We woke up our last morning and all said we will miss the house as much as Hanalei! It had everything we needed and more and was our best rental yet. This will be our top pick to stay every time we come to Kauai (hopefully not too far away....) Perfect location, perfect house, amazing hosts. It felt like we were staying with family instead of a VRBO. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Joan!

Great location: a few blocks to the beach; a couple blocks to the Hanalei restaurants. Great house: nice, roomy open layout in the common area; nice bedrooms; very quiet location; very private due to landscaping. Nice host. Fast internet. Our family of four was very comfortable for a week here and would definitely return.
