Completely updated inside at romantic beachfront resort

You can’t get much closer to the ocean while staying at this well appointed condo! The beds are very comfortable and enjoying coffee on the lanai every morning and dinner in the evening is just lovely. It’s a wonderful way to unwind from the hectic pace of the outside world.

Nice location. Quiet at night.

We were extremely disappointed with our stay.Upon arrival, we found numerous cleanliness and maintenance issues that should have been addressed before check-in. We encountered dirty towels, stained bedding, dirty dishes and cookware that needed to be washed before use, residue and buildup on furnishings, a broken screen door, and a strong sewage odor in the unit. Instead of starting our vacation, we spent a large portion of the first day cleaning and addressing problems that should not have existed in a rental of this price point.To the management company’s (Kauai Kahuna) credit, they did respond to our complaints and sent housekeeping and maintenance about 24 and 48 hours after we reported the issues. However, that does not change the fact that the unit was not in acceptable condition when we arrived. We documented the issues with photos and reported them immediately.The management company, Kauai Kahuna, attributed some concerns to the age of the property and the humid Hawaiian climate, but dirty towels, dirty cookware, stained bedding, and other housekeeping issues cannot be explained by the property’s age.The location itself is beautiful, but the condition of the unit significantly impacted our experience. For the amount we paid, we expected a clean, well-maintained vacation rental. Unfortunately, that was not the experience we had.

Great location, close to town & the many beaches in the area. Nice beach right at the property as well. Enjoyed sitting on the deck (lanai) watching the waves roll in.

Pros:- Location is great! We booked so late this is about 15 minutes from hanalei main restaurants/shops which our group would have found more ideal, but this is still right on a beach, near our favorite coffee shop in kauai (the haven), and a stop within the hanalei initiative so you can easily reach the na pali coast hike, botanical gardens, etc! - Ocean views from the room- Beds super comfortable, sizable condo that can comfortably fit four- Check in process easy, we were notified via text on how to check inNeeds improvement:- General cleanliness - there was mold in the shower, on curtains, lots of dust buildup- Minor repairs needed - screen door was broken and kept banging in the wind. We returned to our condo and found someone had placed a rock to hold it open. Some window paneling also broken- Had difficulty connecting to wifiOverall not a bad stay at all, but for the price we paid I would want an environment that was better maintained and deep cleaned. This felt like a stay somewhere between letting a friend crash at your place and a professional hotel - not quite the resort experience but will get the job done.

The location is amazing and the complex is fantastic. Our absolute favorite place to stay.

Great comms and hard to beat location!

Property at HCB is a hidden gem on the North shore. This unit was clean and everything worked as expected. The unit has ocean views from the front door, inside and the lanai. In the past we have rented ocean front on this property so we experimented with this unit which is a building behind ocean front (still great ocean views!) and you can still hear the waves surround you which is a great way to fall asleep at night. Don’t expect a/c anywhere on the north shore because the winds keep things cool.

Beautiful and quiet property. First time staying in Hanalei and will definitely come back to this property again. Unit was comfortable and clean. King bed was super comfortable as well. This is a MUST stay at place.

Our stay was WONDERFUL. This property is perfect, away from much of civilization but 15 minutes from the lively town of Hanalei. The apartment was clean and bright and had wonderful views. We enjoyed the pool, the hot tub and relished coming back here after a day exploring the North coast. Paradise. We will be back!

This condo was great for our family of 4 staying in the North Shore for a few days. Easy shuttle access to Haena state park, cute coffee shop and restaurant on site. Loved the north shore area.

Everything is as advertised. Beautiful location along the beach with plenty of restraints and shopping 10-15 minute drive down the road in Hanalei. I would recommend.

The recently remodeled unit we stayed in, was perfectly appointed and extremely comfortable. I would more than recommend this property to anyone considering staying anywhere on this side of the island!

We had a great 4 night stay in Feb. Absolutely great view of beach from lanai and also somewhat visible from bedrooms. Well-maintained and friendly service through the host manager. A few things to know:--Agree with previous reviewer that there should be a little more flexibility in how many towel sets you can use for what you are paying.-Renting through VRBO you do not get the use of the resort shuttle. We didn't have a problem with parking anywhere, but it would have been a nice option.-Recycling is available.-There is an excellent coffee shop beside restaurant with extremely friendly owner.-If you want to hike the Kalamau trail or visit Ke'e beach in Haena state park, book a shuttle or parking well in advance. Note: The shuttle will pick you up at the resort, but you must inform 3 days in advance and provide proof of lodging. -Highly recommend a visit to Limahuli garden near state park. -Farmer's market in Princeville was great, with good food trucks and Kauai made crafts.--Recommend swimming at lifeguard beaches in winter months. Surf is rough but spectacular to watch.--Please don't use suntan products from home if swimming--they damage the coral reefs which are already having a hard time. We would return and overall great place.

We enjoyed our stay in this unit at the Hanalei colony resort. It has amazing views to the ocean and peaks of the mountains too. You can walk on the beach in both directions depending on tides. The north island is very relaxing but you will still need reservations for the Kīlauea lighthouse and Ke’e beach so it’s not a casual as you might want. Winter is the rainy season so you will need to drive south for the sunshine you might be wanting. We stayed in January and some days were amazing and others rain all day. The unit was well equipped and had most everything you need. Note, no dryer can make packing a chore so get some quarters from the store and plan to use the laundry room on the property. It was difficult to hang dry towels and beach gear in this unit. Note: the pots and pans could use a refreshed set from Costco or similar. Would recommend for 3-4 nights of a week in Kauai during rainy season. Also if you’d like to use the resort shuttle to beaches or town then need to book via resort not VRBO.

Great location and very chill vibe. This property is great if you are looking for a nice place that isn’t part of a big and commercialized resort. Quiet and very close to ocean. Beautiful view of ocean. Internet is very fast and I was able to work remotely and take video calls.

We enjoyed our stay at your condo. We loved listening to the waves each evening and enjoyed using the pool and hot tub located on the premises.

We loved the view and breeze on our lanai the most! The unit is beautiful and newly updated. The kitchen was well appointed. Unfortunately the beach breeze didn’t flow through the unit as much as we would have liked due to how the building is positioned, so it did get a bit hot and humid when we were there in early September. That was the ONLY thing we didn’t love. We recommend that you walk across the parking lot and get a massage on the beach from the Hanalei Day Spa - glorious!

This is a great location to get a taste for the local non-resort Hawaii. Very close to the NaPali coast trailheads. Our unit was nicely updated and very clean and well-appointed.

63-year-old male travel often the property is very nice and well-maintained but all should know that it is probably 50 to 60 years old and shows it I know a five star property and this is not one of them, but definitely four stars and I would stay again just tempered your expectations

The Colony is terrific. Very quiet, peaceful, and priced right. If you are looking for relaxing place this is it. If you are looking for lots of nightlife and restaurants then stay in Poipu. My family enjoyed our stay.

The property is comfortable with nice updates and amenities. The views are amazing, with great beach access. There is a nice spot that is safe for swimming/wading. And you can walk on the beach forever. Also has a really nice pool. Be aware that there is no TV or dishwasher. Not having a TV was actually nice, so you can focus on watching and listening to the ocean. And the wifi was surprisingly good so you can stream to your devices no problem if you want. Already recommended this location to family members who have booked a trip later this month. Proximity to Hanelei is great, never really felt the need to go anywhere else on the island.
