Property Overview
Hale Kona Kai 405 is on the top floor. Flooring was updated in 2025 with engineered wood flooring. Central air conditioning keeps the unit cool and comfortable, especially on those extra warm nights. Updated wifi equipment and settings provide high speed wifi, a necessity for "working" remotely where Zoom conference calls may be necessary. The unit is equipped with 2 smart TVs; one in the living room and one in the bedroom.
AIR CONDITIONING UPDATE - January 2026
In the late fall of 2025, the central air conditioning system at Hale Kona Kai was replaced. The HVAC equipment that services the individual condo was also inspected, with and any and all required maintenance/repairs completed. The air conditioning is in peak condition at this time.
This oceanfront property offers unobstructed views of the Kona coastline. The ocean is teeming with life! Sit on your lanai and watch spinning dolphins year around and humpback breaching just offshore during the winter and spring months. Turtles and eels find plenty of sustenance in the tide pools. Wake up and fall asleep to the calming sound of the ocean.
Amenities include small appliances include a hair dryer and iron. This unit also comes equipped with beach chairs, towels, umbrella, and a small cooler for guests use. It may or may not have some snorkel gear that was left by previous guests. We do not provide snorkel gear. Non-fitting snorkel gear takes all the fun out of snorkeling, so it is best to rent your equipment while you are here.
Hale Kona Kai is a special complex right on the ocean in the heart of Kona. It is a short walk to anything you need; restaurants, entertainment, shopping and beaches. An elevator provides easy access. There is a coin laundry room on each floor of the building. The property boasts an oceanfront pool and BBQ area.

Great location, amenities and views
Our stay was great! Property as advertised. Lots of extras came in handy...beach chairs, umbrella, ziploc bags! Beautiful view of sunsets from balcony. Also watched the Ironman athletes practice swimming right in front of unit. Would stay here again.
The condo, location (that’s why we keep coming back!) is awesome. My ONLY complaint is that the floors were filthy. When my 7 month old visited from another condo the tops of her feet, hands, and knees were quite literally black (she’s crawling). We never wear shoes inside any house, and certainly not in someone else’s. Otherwise zero complaints, it was beyond our expectations. Keep in mind the filthy floors are no fault of the owner’s neglect, it’s the housekeepers fault.
While the property itself is older, this unit has everything needed for a lovely stay. Pool/ocean toys/chairs were great, well-stocked kitchen, fluffy towels, and even the paper towels and toilet paper were much nicer than average. RIGHT on the water, so falling asleep to the sound of waves was perfect! It’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset.
This is an amazing condo. From the moment we walked into this unit, we were impressed at how CLEAN everything was. There was not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. The towels, pillows, coffee maker, etc. appeared to be brand new and there was ample kitchen gear for anything we wanted to prepare. The furnishings were great with a comfortable couch and bed and there was beach gear available in the unit. We loved the stunning view and beautiful sunsets. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This place was very comfortable and clean, right on the ocean. Within walking distance of everything! Loved having my own parking spot as well.

The location is wonderful. So nice to be right on the ocean. The bed was very comfortable. Lanai furniture was not. Nice kitchen with some things provided such as salt and pepper, olive oil, misc spices. A nice addition would be a retractable drying line in the shower.
Spent time just relaxing. No special tours or excurtions. Had a great time. Loved the view!
So nice to have BEACH TOWELS, boogie boards, Cooler, and grocery tote bags provided! Great to walk to town, resort restaurant next-door was delicious. Super clean property, very comfortable bed with well supplied kitchen including bottle opener and NEW skillet to cook breakfast each morning. Hearing the sound of the waves crashing was pure therapy every day and the sunset each evening was stunning! Thank you for a perfect place to stay.
I would have liked to give an excellent rating. The condo has a gorgeous location, is beautifully decorated and maintained and is fabulously well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. But there were a couple of things that could have been better. The most annoying thing was bed pillow shams that were not clean. We used the regular (white) pillows every night, but the last night I wanted to have my head a little higher, so I picked up one of the pillow shams to put on the bed and immediately noticed the strong smell. It smelled strongly of sweat and body odor which means that it had not been cleaned. This made we wonder what else had not been cleaned before our arrival. I left a note for the housekeeper and hopefully that will become a part of the regular laundry process. The other two issues were less important. We had a roach run across the cooktop one morning. Please note that we only used the stove to heat up water in the kettle in the morning and did no other cooking. Lastly, we had to close the lanai doors on several afternoons due to cigar smoke which I believe was coming from the unit directly below. If that is not one of your units, then I understand that this is not under your control and just part of staying in a multi-story building. But I wanted to let you know in case it is one of your units.
This is just what my husband and I needed after an emotional week of working on Oahu with children living in trauma and toxic stress. The management was SUPER attentive and solved a minor issue that we brought to their attention. We will definitely be staying here again. Mahalo!
