This was a great vacation rental. Might be one of the best stocked vacation rental kitchens I've ever seen! Plenty of pot/pans, bowls, gadgets, spices and... tupperware! lol. So nice to have a way to save left overs, freshly cut fruit; and there's a small cooler available and ice packs in the freezer so we could pack snacks/lunches while we were driving around the island. Small things that were super helpful to have.Bathroom was clean and spacious with good water pressure. The bed was comfortable. It's on the softer side, which was fine for us - I only mention it for those who are more particular about mattress firmness. Washer and Dryer were clean and worked great (laundry soap was provided). So nice to wash clothes after a couple days hiking (esp after getting caught in a downpour!)We were there in January so it was warm but not hot and not too humid. I opened the louvered windows when we left each morning and the temp was comfortable when we returned each evening. There is a ceiling fan and several smaller fans but we only used a fan on a couple evenings. It's a ground floor unit but was quiet. Occasionally we could hear folks above us but it was very subtle. I had a question about check out, texted Rick and he got back to us right away. Oh and there's a good sized grocery store nearby.Traveler alert: vandals are cutting gas lines to steal gas all over the island. Jeeps are targeted so consider renting a vehicle that's less of a tourist target
Everything was absolutely perfect. We loved the place and will definitely be back next time we're in Kauai. Rick has really thought of everything here. Made our trip so much easier and fun. This was our 2nd trip to Kauai; the first time we stayed at a resort in Kapa'a which was fine, but staying here was a whole different and much greater experience. Thanks for everything Rick!
Rick was a great host! Communication was quick and easy, and the place was clean and in a good location. We enjoyed staying here and would stay here again.
Very enjoyable stay. The unit was just as it appears on VRBO and well stocked. Parking and everything else was easy. Thanks so much!
Great
This was an amazing place. Clean, neat and Quiet and very accommodating in all sorts.
Very convenient location. Having a full kitchen and laundry made things that much easier.
The condo was clean, spacious and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The location was ideal for exploring the north shore.
We loved staying here. The home was exactly as described and shown and is very well kept. The beach chairs, umbrella, and snorkel gear provided made our trip even better!
This place was absolutely wonderful! It was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The area was very nice and quiet. We enjoyed drinking our coffee every mornong on the back lanai. There is a small shopping center nearby that has a grocery store, several options for restaurants and nightly love music. It was also is also a quick drive to Hanalei. It was just a truly wonderful place to stay for our visit to Kauai!
This was such a nice, clean and comfortable place to stay. Well stocked; everything you might need! Good directions and helpful information of the area. The back deck is just beautiful. Pool is refreshing. Walking distance to serene beach area with amazing views!!
Place was perfect for us! Really enjoyed the full kitchen amenities as it provided an opportunity for us to make some snacks and meals without having to find a place to eat out each meal. The additional amenities that were included were excellent; chairs for the beach, towels for the beach, fans for air movement while sleeping, and of course the included snorkeling gear. It was all wonderful!
We had a wonderful stay here! Very homey with a lovely back porch. We enjoyed the location and Anini beach was within walking distance (the hill down there is steep and it’s a decent walk though, just FYI). Rick provided lots of amenities and we especially appreciate the beach chairs, umbrella, and snorkeling gear.
Great property and location on the North Shore. It was clean and well kept. We would stay there again. Thanks!
Good location, great experience. Close to Tunnels Beach, Anini beach, Hanalei and walking distance to the local food market. Highly recommend this rental.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. It’s stocked with everything needed including all the beach gear and added touches like Kleenex, paper towels, napkins, soaps, basic spices, condiments and even distilled water for the iron or CPAP machine. The condo lives much larger than a typical studio and the full size kitchen was wonderful. The patio offers a peaceful setting amongst the lush landscape. The owner was very responsive during our stay and he has provided so many amenities to make your stay comfortable. The location is ideal for the Princeville area and we would definitely return to this property when visiting Kauai again.
This little getaway place was fantastic! One of the best stocked VRBO‘s that we have ever stayed in. Usually, we have to go and purchase utensils and other supplies - at this place, that was not the case. The unit was very clean, well taken care of and we felt safe in this location. We’d pick this place again.
Our stay was excellent and we enjoyed every bit! The apartment was bright, clean and equipped with everything you need to make your stay as smooth as possible. We would definitely stay here again! The location is also fantastic.
Great place, quick response from owner on a question. Provided everything we needed for a beach vacation! Would recommend highly.
The pictures of this place don’t do it justice — it was perfect for us to stay at as a couple! If you want to explore the north shore, this is your best bet. We loved being close to Hanalei and visited Ha’ena State Park, and we also did some activities in Wailua —easy drive. We loved the beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, and snorkel gear - they really made our trip with all of our beach exploring. There is also a copy of a Kauai Guidebook that was GOLD - great info and recommendations. I would stay here again, it was lovely.
This studio was/is perfect for 1/2 people. The photos on line did not do it justice. It had everything you would need and then some. The bed/furniture were comfortable and the most beautiful beaches were a short walk/drive away. I have price shop the rentals for years and the cost for this studio was very reasonable. The only problem I had was with the lock box-only because I went to the wrong box-I even had my glasses on-contacted the the designated person-very helpful-even had a follow up visit by a very nice lady to ensure I was good to go. The only draw back I initially had was when I read the”rules& regulations” then I read some of the ratings starting with the lowest and moving on up. The good HEAVILY overshadowed the bad. The “rules & regulations” were reasonable it just needed to be “toned” down. Would I stay here again..that’s a BIG YES.
Exactly like the listing. It was very nice. Upstairs neighbors have heavy feet and the one of the snorkels has a broken diagram. But other than that it was a good experience. Very happy we got to stay and it was very affordable. Thanks Rick, for sharing your home!
My husband and I stayed at this property in a larger condo complex after backpacking the Napali coast for three nights. It was a perfect respite and retreat! The host has the condo fully stocked with anything you could want or need: a fully stocked kitchen, nice granite countertops, pantry staples and then some. We prepared our own food in the kitchen almost every night. There is a washer and dryer with soap included, castile soap which is perfect for removing zinc oxide (reef safe) sunscreen, full-sized shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap in the shower, a shaded porch with patio chairs, games, puzzles, bluetooth speaker, etc, etc. Also beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear. Wow! This unit far exceeded our expectations. The location is great, close to a walking path that takes you to a grocery store, shops and restaurants, and is also quiet. It is a lower-level unit with a unit above and beside, but we had no issues with noise from either units. While staying there, we did not utilize the pool, so we cannot comment on that. The decor is a bit dated, and perhaps overdone a bit, but it is very Hawaiian, colorful and cheerful. My only minor recommendation is that a tea pot (for steeping tea) be added to the kitchen. We would absolutely stay here again if we were to return to Kaua'i.
Very nice condo with all we needed for our stay in Princeville. Loved having the windows open at night to catch the evening breeze. Walking distance to several restaurants, market and Anini Beach. Nice home base to do all the activities on the North Shore.
The unit is exactly as shown in the listing. Very spacious for two adults, in a convenient location for exploring Kauai's north shore. The modern kitchen is very well equipped. Beach and snorkeling gear were provided along with a very helpful guide to area beaches and trails. No AC but fans and good cross ventilation kept us comfortable. Contact with owner was easy. Will stay here again!
Our stay at Rick’s place was a real treat, exceeding our expectation. Very well furnished, even providing a cooler that kept our lunch cool for our daily trips around the island (also chairs, umbrella, snorkeling stuff). Communication with our host was responsive and thoughtful. Nice quiet location with porch overlooking golf course and walking path. He even provided Dr. Bronner’s soap for the shower (you have to be a Dr. B fan to get that!)Thank you, Rick!
Rick is an incredible host and exceeded any communication expectations. Because of a glitch in VRBO’s system, we were not able to stay at his property when we initially anticipated, however because of this glitch Rick went above and beyond to make our experience with him the best it could be. Thank you Rick!
Perfectly situated in a quiet area surrounded by tropical plants and scenery. Fully stocked with any you may need. Had i read to the back of the welcome binder i would have known there was also snorkeling gear.Thank you Rick!
The condo was exactly as represented and was a very pleasant experience.
I’ve stayed here twice now, it’s clean, I feel safe, the bed is comfortable & the kitchen fully equipped. I will continue to return. Mahalo
Perfect for two people
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciated some of the recommendations of places to see and things to do. The unit was very well stocked, and we could not think of anything that we could suggest improving the accommodations. We appreciated the quick communication with the owner and was very happy with accommodations.
Lovely property/extremely well maintained. Clean and well equipped. Nicely maintained grounds and pool. Condo is close to a food market, restaurants, ect. Its a four min drive/or a leisurely path walk to the beach. Who could ask for more?
We had a wonderful stay in Princeville. Neighbors were very friendly and the spot was quiet except for a few roosters screaming morning announcements. The rental was very well equipped and clean. We appreciated the clear instructions, laundry option and beach gear. No AC but adequate ventilation and fans to make everything comfortable. Bed was nice and the porch offered a beautiful peaceful morning nook with a little view onto the golf course. Still felt private. Some noise from upstairs neighbors but nothing distracting or during odd hours.
Loved the condo and location. Will be back soon
My wife Nikki and I stayed at this property for a week and loved the setup of the place. The owner was very responsive to questions and very friendly. Air conditioning was the only thing I feel would make the stay even more enjoyable, but it is understandable due to the high coat of electricity in Kauai. Would recommend 100%!
Absolutely loved where I stayed for my week visit. The place was quiet and cozy. Host was accommodating and it was easy to follow directions/instructions for my visit. I loved the neighborhood and how close it was to my favorite north shore beaches. Pe
Hawaiian vibe to this clean, neat place. It had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay on our favorite island of Kauai!
Great little place to spend our trip! Clean, smooth and easy process, and good location.
Rick has done a great job setting up a beautiful stay. We had everything we needed. We took the trail (starting close to the back porch) which leads all the way down to Wylie/Annini beach a few times. It's a bit of a hill but it's a very nice shaded walk with beautiful trees along the way. Some people have mentioned about the hot water in the shower running out...that is to be expected, just don't take VERY long showers and space them out as a couple and you'll be fine. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch in the mornings...it's very pleasant.
We absolutely loved our visit at this apartment. It was incredibly well equipped with everything we could imagine that we would need for our stay - we especially appreciated the coffee machine, the washing machine/dryer, the snorkeling gear, the dishwasher, the relaxing porch, Scrabble, and the well stocked bathroom. The location is also so close to so many wonderful and useful places: Foodland, Farmers Market, beaches, wonderful local towns, ice cream, and so much more. The house had such an adorable, local, and relaxing feel. We felt instantly at home and did not want to leave. We would happily return!
My husband and I had a fantastic time staying at this apartment! It was in a quiet area (minus the chickens in the morning), but close enough that it was just a quick trip to Lihue or Hanalei. The kitchen was fully stocked with pans, plates, and anything you need to make meals - which we took advantage of. Communication with Rick was quick and easy. I know other reviews mention the lack of A/C - as long as you keep the windows open for airflow and turn the ceiling fan on, you will sleep great! Similar to the West Coast of the U.S., most of the island doesn't have A/C unless you are staying in a hotel.
Overall this was a very nice place to stay. The closest beach is a steep walk down a hill but it wasn't very hard to get to and it was lovely to be at. Roosters will wake you up at dawn but I think that is just a feature of the island. My only complaints were the lack of air conditioning, which leaves the house feeling and smelling a little moist. Also, the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors cough and sneeze through the walls. Overall it was worth the price and a good value.
This unit was nearly perfect for our stay. The unit is in a secluded and quiet area. All the amenities were a great addition, such as a kitchen, in-unit laundry, and even beach chairs and snorkels. The only cons were the lack of A/C. There were a lot of fans but it still didnt feel comfortable to sleep at night with the heat. The shower also runs out of hof water by the time a second person is halfway thru their shower, so you have to shower quickly. Overall, we did really enjoy our stay here and would come again!
Just a terrific stay in Princeville and our stay in Rick's place was a big reason why. Clean, comfortable, cool, ideally located near major beaches--the listing for the property and the photos are completely accurate. Bed, shower, kitchen all first rate. Easy communication with host. Could have been better overall.
We loved our stay at this comfortable apartment. It was well equipped, somehow finding room for everything you might need, without feeling cluttered. The shower was wonderful- great water pressure! All instructions were clear. Loved being in this area of the island. We were grateful to stay in this lovely home.
The property is just perfect for an extended stay. The unit has a bedroom area, living room area, Lanai, and full kitchen with washer and dryer and full size refrigerator. It makes it possible to shop for groceries and do at home meals; a huge boon in Princeville. The decorations are very Hawaii and make the whole place feel like a home away from home. Having stayed at several VRBOs, this is one of the best for a couple to have a peaceful romantic respite. Highest recommendation.
Spacious lower studio, surrounded by colorful trees and flowers. We didn’t need to contact Rick during our visit because communication beforehand was so thorough, there was a binder of helpful info, and it was the most fully equipped rental ever! We especially enjoyed the full kitchen, washer and dryer, ample paper products and toiletries, and a cooler with ice packs. As for location, we prefer less busy, out of the way locations like Princeville. We had walking access to Anini beach or a short drive to Lumahai, Tunnels and other close by. It is worth it to explore other parts of the island; the Napali Coast (we did a sunset dinner cruise) and Kokee and Waimea Canyon State Parks, but always appreciated returning here at the end of the day; the North Shore was the best! Highly recommend this relaxing studio when visiting Kauai!
This is the best place for us as - hmm well we are aging and want simple, reliable, and a little off the beaten path. If you want all the pools and people book just down the road at the Westin Resort but that is not for us unless we want to walk their grounds and have a meal at the bar or restaurant. The beach is just down the path and shopping the other direction- just a short walk away.Rick really takes care of your needs - thanks again! We will be back
It was a beautiful place to stay with everything you could need for a wonderful experience. Loved the beautiful patio for early morning coffee! Comfy bed and all the well thought out amenities. Thank you for making our trip to Kauai wonderful. A full kitchen, beach chairs, and clear instructions made the stay easy!
Rick's place was really nice, exactly as described. Thanks Rick!
Extremely well equipped property in a great location. It felt spacious and comfortable despite only being a studio apartment and having a full kitchen with a washer and dryer was wonderful.
My wife have been to Kauai several times, this was one of our best visits. Most of our visits we've stayed in the Kapaa area which was convenient but very busy and loud. We really enjoyed the Princeville area, less busy and quiet. The condo was very clean and well organized. Next time we visit we'll stay here again!!
I spent more time actually in the place than I expected, I would say the trip was definitely a mixed bag due to unrelated issues (weather, closing of places that had been open 15 years ago etc). So as a result I was actually in the room reading and watching old Star Trek reruns on cable a lot more than I had planned. So, in short the trip was mostly not what I wanted, about 2 good weather days out of 7, but the place made an excellent place to just hole up and wait it out. One recommendation would be to close the windows at night if the temperature isn't too hot, really helps with the local roosters occasionally deciding that the sun rises at 2am, because they don't have watches. With the windows open, they might as well be perched on the headboard. I stayed in January, and like I said weather was not great, so closing the windows wasn't a problem. In warmer months there will be plenty of airflow, lots of window slats and louvers to open for the breeze. The place is well equipped, so much so that I didn't even discover half of it until well into the trip. Beach chairs and umbrella, beach towels, and good infrastructure like laundry, dishwasher, etc etc. Toaster oven was good for bagels in the morning. I didn't cook much, but it's well equipped for it. Also liked the water filter, regularly filled up my water bottle from it just to be on the safe side. There are a lot of Labels everywhere with instructions on how not to go wrong, which was appreciated.
Location was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. The place has everything you could need for your stay on the island.
