Summary:
Pull back the plantation doors and watch waves meet the rocks only a few feet from your lanai. This ground-floor, one-bedroom condo at Kuhio Shores sleeps four and gives you the kind of oceanfront Poipu morning that changes the whole pace of a trip. Lawai Beach is right beside the property for a snorkel or surf check, while Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach are less than two miles away for sandy beach time. Make breakfast in the full kitchen, head out with fins and a mask, then come home to the sound of the sea. Koloa's historic shops and local coffee are close when you want a change of scene. Please note that the Kuhio Shores building has an upcoming exterior painting project that may affect some reserved dates. This is an ideal South Shore stay for a couple or small family who came to Kauai to be close to the water.
The Space:
The ocean is the first thing you see here. Sliding plantation doors open to a ground-floor lanai with waves breaking just beyond, while the 640-square-foot interior has a full kitchen and easy one-bedroom, one-bath layout. Two beds sleep up to four, and air conditioning offers a cool place to return to after a Poipu beach day. The setting is direct, close, and unmistakably Kauai.
Guest Access:
Guests at Kuhio Shores enjoy access to the oceanfront communal pool, hot tub, and fitness center, plus lush garden grounds throughout the complex. An elevator and disabled parking spot make getting around easy, and the beachfront setting puts sand and surf just steps from your lanai. Accessible-height beds and toilets are available for added comfort.
The Neighborhood:
Kuhio Shores sits on Kauai's sunny South Shore beside Lawai Beach, where the reef, surfers, and passing sea life make the shoreline part of the day. Poipu Beach Park and Brennecke's Beach are a short drive for sandy swimming and family beach time. Head toward Kukui'ula for groceries, restaurants, and a farmers market, or wander nearby Prince Kuhio Park. This is Poipu for guests who want to wake up close to the water, then explore at their own pace.
Getting Around:
Poipu sits on Kauai's sunny south shore, about 30 to 40 minutes from Lihue Airport. A rental car is recommended for exploring the island, though the resort area itself is walkable, with beaches, shops, and dining within a short stroll of most condos. The Poipu shopping village and popular snorkeling spots are just minutes away on foot or by a quick drive. Parking is generally available on site, keeping things easy.

The location of this unit could not be better, both in terms of Kauai geography, and in terms of where the unit is located in the building. Everything on the South Shore is a literal 5-10 min drive. You can walk to Baby beach. It’s very quiet and private, with absolutely stunning views of the ocean. Being able to walk right out your lanai and be AT the ocean is next level. Everything was very clean. The decor is a little dated but in a cute kitschy Hawaii way and that doesn’t detract from comfort (AC, fan, fridge, freezer, and shower all worked beautifully). They had an umbrella, cooler, and snorkel gear (only the last of which needed updating) so that was a thoughtful touch. I was under the impression that there was in unit laundry, but it’s actually in the building not the unit- just something to keep in mind. Would stay here again in a heartbeat! Check in and out were a breeze- they even called and got me back some items I mistakenly left behind. An absolute gem of a stay!
Our condo was clean and well stocked. It is located right next to a lagoon with stunning views. At one time we were watching 9 turtles grazing. among rocks. It was located close to many restaurants, a shopping mall, and beaches. We highly recommend it.
This place was absolutely beautiful and the process was very easy!!
We loved the location right on the water. The first floor location was also a plus. We could snorkel at the beach right next to the apartment at the little beach there. Apartment was immaculate and very clean and spacious. All around very comfortable. Conveniently located near the shopping area and restaurants.. We would definitely stay here again.
Amazing location that opens to the ocean. Good value but the condo is a little dated and the amenities like the beach chairs etc could be updated. That being said we would return for sure. Be sure to watch the African ringed -necked parakeets come in the evening and land in the trees for the night. One of the coolest things we saw on the trip.
Beautiful condo with amazing ocean views. Loved watching the turtles and surfers off the lanai.
Enjoyed being right on the ocean. The only downfall to this property was that it faces the east, so enjoying sunsets meant leaving the unit and walking around the building. Aside from that it was a great property! Spacious, clean, comfortable!

The constant waves just right outside the condo contributed to amazing rest. The neighbors that came and went were friendly and entertaining. The location was central to so many beautiful places.

This place was just as described. We enjoyed the location--so perfect for sunrises on the porch and sunsets around the corner on the lawn. Close to so many great beaches. This place was wonderful to come home to each night. We hope to return!
