A grand house: spacious rooms furnished to echo the Art Deco era, very nicely equipped, with thoughtful touches that make the guest feel special. Glorious views. You’re so comfortable thst it requires determined effort to continue with your planned touring program,—just “hanging out” here is so enjoyable! One of the finest rentals in out several decades of travel.
Beautiful home with a historic feel and amazing view!!
The most beautiful house and view!! I loved the old plantation style and unique layout of the house. Also loved all the cool antiques and books. The house has a lot of history. The outdoor shower was cool too! The house is stocked with pretty much everything you could need and more. Would definitely stay here again!
Great house.I just wish this "review process" was shorter.
our stay at the house was exceptional, perfect surroundings, cool, summer trade, perfect size for our family of 4, and the amenities were more than we could ask for. The house was clean and spotless. I had my doubts about the outdoor shower, but it ended up being the best thing about the house…I enjoyed it so much! I just wish we could’ve entertain more with our friends at the house. Otherwise, without a doubt, our family enjoyed our vacation at The Ishihara house…as advertised, classic quality!!!
The house was a beautiful and unique old home. Wood trim and accents, the old wood desk in the library, pictures and decorations gave the place a real homey feeling of times gone by while at the same time having a very modern and well equipped kitchen and counter space. The outdoor shower accessed through the bathroom was spectacular. We split our trip between the North Shore and Waimea. This home was perfectly located for exploring the Waimea Canyon.
We enjoyed / weeks of blissful relaxation in this heritage home. The house was perfectly cooled with the cross ventilation and trade winds. The kitchen was well equipped and there were even sharp knives! We loved the neighborhood, the Waimea canyon view and we grew use to the roosters It was a great place to stay. We hope to return.
We all adored our stay - the cottage truly felt like a home away from home. Abundant amenities and in such a peaceful, quiet neighborhood, yet very close to town - very convenient to pop down to a store or beach.
I can't wait to go back this home is the most perfect spot to relax.
First impressions were interesting as the neighborhood is a pretty mixed group of homes with some well kept and some not so much. We were greeted by a random little dog that turned out to be not so random. On the back porch we found a water bowl with a note on it requesting to keep it filled and dog treats for this little pup who must make the area his home. We werent warned of the friendly and very present dog but if one of us had a fear of or allergy to dogs, this would be a big problem. The home itself was stiflingly hot inside. No AC. The owner and manager said it will cool off in the evening and wont be a concer, but we arrived in the evening and while the breeze was blowing through the home, the whole house was just radiating heat. There is no way we could stay in the home, and unfortunately the manager and owner did not offer any sort of assistance for this concern. We ended up leaving the home about an hour after arrival because we were not going to be able to sleep in that kind of heat. The owner took our money and did not work with us even as we had to get alternative accomodations at the last minute because of the problem. I understand the owner did not state that there was AC in the home so it wasnt fraudulent, but it's pretty upsetting when you spend $1,700 on an accomodation and have to walk away from it. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth for using VRBO in the future. While I think the property manager had the best of intentions, his hands were tied.
Do I have to fill ALL of this in? Just to say we really loved the house?
We stayed here after staying with family in Poipu. This was our time alone. The first evening we invited the family, which was flying out on the RED EYE, to dinner. They all loved the setting. We grilled that night. The grill needs to be replaced immediately. The GUTS of the grill have rusted all the way through and have collapsed on themselves. We did grill but held our breath when lighting it. The house had everything we needed and then some. There were treats and Kauai Coffee waiting for us. Although it had no air conditioning, we didn't need it. The cool breeze and fans kept the home comfortable. I loved the outdoor shower! Coming from Montana, I found this fun. Need heat in the shower? Stand in the sun, haha. The only down side was the fan in the small bed room needed dusting.
This home is beautiful and well-equipped. I love the plantation style of architecture and the expert restoration. I must say I have never operated a double hung window with a few fingers!! The view, the privacy, the proximity to Waimea and that outdoor shower are my highlights. I have never had a “shower rainbow” before! Cinch, the neighborhood welcome pup was great company. The furniture is beautiful, beds are comfortable, and there is a blender, huge salad spinner a crock pot in the kitchen! Overall, this is an ideal place to stay.
