Property Overview
"Kuku's Nest" is a beautiful tropical home not just another rental. This condo is a large, remodeled, one bedroom accommodating two guests, ground floor unit, with full kitchen, luxury vinyl and tile floors, stainless appliances, fresh tropical colors, granite counters, new furnishings, two flat screen smart TVs, California king bed, sofa, and free wifi. The condo has a beautiful new tile and stone shower. Other upgrades include doors throughout, kitchen cabinetry, flooring, furnishings and installation of a full size range. This cottage includes an actual dining area, rather than the bar seating common to other units in the complex. With the ceiling fans and coastal breezes, the air conditioning is rarely needed. Enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise on the lanai accessed from the living and bedroom. The lanais overlook a coconut grove tropical garden, and one of three property pools.
Plantation Hale consistently brings in great reviews for one of the best places on the island to stay. Property amenities include whirlpool spas, barbecues, clean convenient laundry facilities, and open air lobby . Kuku’s Nest is in the “H” building, near a short walking path, through a field, to tranquil Waipouli Beach. Accessible parking is located right outside the condo cottage and the ground floor location makes this cottage convenient for those with walking or mobility limitations.
Kuku's Nest is nestled in the home of Ancient Hawaiian Royalty. Located in Wailua on Kauai’s Coconut Coast it is a short walk to many area beaches, shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The newly completed coastal walking / biking path provides the opportunity to keep your vehicle parked, or within a 5 minute drive you can kayak or stand-up paddle the Wailua River, hike Sleeping Giant, visit several of the island’s best waterfalls, enjoy a luau & gardens, snorkel or swim at Lydgate's tide pools, and much more. Wailua is half way between the jungles of the North Shore and the nearly always sunny Southern Coast making a perfect base for exploring.
WHY CHOOSE THIS PROPERTY:
The Coconut Coast has always been what we consider the best place on the island to serve as a home away from home. It is half way from the North and South shores, and has a good combination of local 'real Hawaiian' life as well as vacation 'destination spots'. Kapaa Town is our favorite area for shopping , restaurants, walking and biking. It has the convenience of having grocery stores, farmer's market, banks and a post office in the immediate area The complex sits along the ocean (Makai) side of the road and is an easy walk to the Coconut Marketplace, restaurants (Hukilau Lanai, Sleeping Giant Grill, Chicken in a Barrel Barbecue, Lava Lava Beach Club) as well as grocery stores, two coffee shops (yes, including Starbucks), and many activities. These units always get great reviews from travelers and we have been very impressed with the management and maintenance staff.

...The condo was central to all the things we wanted to do in Kauai and just made traveling around the island so easy. We had our two boys ages 5 and 3 with us, and we all fit comfortably in the condo....
Ken H:
...The condo was clean and had boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, beach towels and beach chairs....Staff at Plantation Hale are very friendly, always busy with maintenance, cleaning, and keeping the grounds spotless. We usually ate breakfast and BBQ'd supper at the condo and ate lunch at restaurants so this saved us lots of money...

We spent nine nights here and it was just what we needed for our stay in Kauai. There were boogie boards, snorkel gear, towels, a fully equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the nearby hot tub the day we were flying out. It was all very comfortable and convent. Nice central location for getting anywhere on the island. Mahalo

Was really pleased with the condo, especially since I had friends staying in the neighboring unit, who's unit were much more basic than Kuku's Nest. Really enjoyed the access to the pool from the back yard and the other pools weren't far away either. Parking was a breeze and I usually walked to other friends staying in neighboring properties...

My husband and I spent. a week here and we just wish we could have stayed longer. The condo was very well-stocked and had everything we needed from cookware to snorkels. As first timers in Kauai, its central location was especially nice, since it was easy for us to travel all over the island (and we did!)...

just spent 12 nights in this Condo and it was the best of the six different condos I have stayed in on the East-side. It had everything you needed to feel at home and the staff were all friendly and helpful and I would recommend this place to anyone who is reading this. The location is perfect and is walking distance to many places to eat and buy groceries which was great. This will be the first place I will try to book the next time I come back to Kauai.

We had a great month in Kuku's Nest. Condo had everything you need, beach chairs, boogie board and fins, beach towels- place was clean on arrival, check-in was easy. We used the BBQ's lots over the month to save on food costs. There is road noise during the day but it is not that bad...

Kuku's nest was the best place for our family to live on our week's vacation to kauai! Clean, comfy, great location...

Tom and Terri were fantastic hosts, and their place was just perfect for our stay in Kauai. We were able to take day trips all over the island from the convenient location, and looked forward to returning each evening to relax and get ready for the next day’s adventures. The kitchen was very well-stocked, and my husband was pleasantly surprised by the Keurig machine! Plenty of linens, and a selection of pillows should ensure anyone can find what they need. Highly recommend the Kuku’s Nest!!
We enjoyed the home like feel of our unit! The unit had everything we needed for a home away from home. The host and hostess were very accommodating as we were able to check in a little early as we had checked out of our previous unit in Princeville at 10am. It was a short walk to the beach and the nearby shopping center. Very clean and comfortable.
Communication with our host was great. The location was perfect as a home base to activities on all sides of the island. And the decor was so cute and fun! Nice beach a short walking path away and lots of dinner and shopping also within walking distance.
The entire stay was fabulous. The accommodations were clean, easy to get to, great amenities and very nice and comfortable. An easy walk to shops, food and the beach. Terri and Tom were great hists. Looking forward to visiting again. Thank you
The unit is wonderful with fun decor and a great location for accessing all the attractions. We loved it.
Lichen was fully equipped. Very clean.
This condo is so nicely decorated in a Hawaiin style, you know you’re on vacation as soon as you open the door. Most everything you need is there including snorkeling sets and beach towels. Although no dishwasher , absolutely not a big deal to us, the kitchen was very well supplied to include oil and basic spices, coffee maker/filters etc. The complex is quiet with shops and market a 5 minute walk. The market has just about everything. I recommend the Kauai Kookies !The beach is a very short walk. This beach is a little narrow with pretty strong waves so we never swam there. We ended up all over the island from north to south so staying in the middle suited us very well. There is a sushi truck that is awesome a short drive away with reasonable prices and a great outdoor dining setup. Tom and Terri were very easy to communicate with. They made things easy and clear right from the beginning. I hope to return pretty soon. What a wonderful vacation!!
We really enjoyed our stay! We had the opportunity to see another unit like ours managed directly with Plantation Hale and it paled in comparison to our unit. Our unit was warm and inviting with a nice view of the pool, a fun beach/surf decor and everything needed to make our stay fantastic. BTW - the bed was sooo comfy. The location is perfect on the island and plenty of parking with walking access to lots of restaurants and the Coconut Marketplace shopping area. Would definitely stay here again.
The property had everything we needed for a super stay. It was clean and quiet and had all the kitchen and beach items we needed. Its location was convenient for all the activities we wanted to do and felt perfectly safe. We'd stay here again!
Kuku's Nest is by far our favorite place to stay in Kauai. The condo is clean, comfortable and makes you feel like you are at home. There is a very well stocked kitchen which we loved as we cooked about 75% of our meals. It is centrally located on the island making it easy to go to so many wonderful places. Also only a 5 minute walk to.Coconut Market. We enjoyed sitting out on the lanai enjoying coffee in the morning and relaxation in the evenings. The pool is so close and enjoyable. Very well maintained grounds. We came to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. We both know we want to came back to stay again. The laundry is just down the hall from the condo. It is so very reasonably priced at 1.50 to wash and 1.00 to dry. It is operated through an app on your phone and lets you know when the washer and dryer are done. The owners Tom and Terri are very quick to communicate and we so appreciated them. Thank you Tom and Terri for allowing us to stay in your beautiful condo. We truly relaxed and took in the island vibe.
The perfect location to stay when exploring the island of Kauai. The apartment has everything you will need, its clean, comfortable and the owners are great to deal with.
We had a great time at Tom & Terri‘s place. The location of this condo was ideal. It is centrally located on the island, so you can easily reach any location for a day trip. Right across the field is a very nice beach where we saw seals while collecting small shells and sea glass. The condo was very clean, nicely decorated, and had a well stocked kitchen. The staff kept the outside immaculate. We hope to return!
Tom and Terri were wonderful hosts, very responsive to any questions or needs we had. Their place was perfect for us and we appreciated the beach gear, cooler, beach towels, etc. We used the hot tub often and met many interesting people. the hot tub
This condo was in the perfect location to explore all of Kauai. It’s right in the middle. It was the perfect size for a couple. It’s within walking distance to the Coconut Marketplace. We enjoyed our stay here.
This property had everything we needed and was perfectly located as a central location on the east coast, with equal travelling times to north and south attractions. A 5 mins walk to the local beach provided spectacular sunrises. The proximity of local restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies were excellent. Well maintained pool and hot tub just off the lanai was especially convenient.
The property was as advertised. Very central to drive to lots of locations. Shopping nearby. Was very clean and well supplied with everything you need for cooking at the unit, etc. Beach supplies were great to have. It is a little close to the major roadway, which, if you have doors open, it can be a little noisy. Bed was very comfortable Was great to have the pool so close by. The whole complex was very quiet which we really appreciated. Would be happy to recommend.
Enjoyed the Kulu’s Nest stay with its Hawaii charm, comfort, nice artistic touches, fully equipped kitchen & easy access to running path & beautiful beach just steps way. Thanks for providing ice chests, beach towels & even a Britta water pitcher was greatly appreciated. Will recommend to friends & family.
We had a wonderful time at your home away from home…..Just a few minor things……I mean small….. Y’all need an electric can opener……lol……and we SO WISH y’all had a hand held shower head……and a little quieter air conditioner…..Also, the floor was slightly gritty upon arrival, but thank you for having vacuum and broom on site…..We will stay again…we loved your place!
Super convenient, this rental met our needs. Great location and beautiful surroundings.
Kuku’s Nest was a perfect home away from home for us. Everything we needed was provided including beach towels and a soft sided cooler to take to the beach! Folding chairs were available too, but we never used those. All was clean and ready for us early, which we very much appreciated. Paper goods, spices, coffee, bottled water and some canned drinks were already there, so we didn’t need to shop for much at all. The king bed with a memory foam mattress was very comfortable and the bedroom had both a TV and Alexa speaker. Plenty of good hangers in the closet along with a drying rack and clothes hampers to use for washing clothes. The washers and dryers, located on the same floor, were small but we found that the clothes baskets were the exact size for a load of laundry. The Plantation Hale location was just right, providing easy access to both the North and South shores. In addition, the Coconut Marketplace with food/drink and souvenir shops, were only a 10-minute walk down a private road. Lydgate beach park is the closest beach, about a 10-minute drive from the condo, with 2 pools created by a barrier of volcanic rock. Inside the pools you could see many different types of fish as well as see the black crabs on the rocks. There is a beach directly across the road, through a field with a paved path to walk on. While it’s a pretty beach, the rocks and rough surf would make it dangerous to do more than just get your feet wet. If you’re thinking about booking this location, do it
Terri and Tom's place in Plantation Hale was the perfect spot for our 10 day stay on Kauai. The location is absolutely perfect to explore the entire island and the ability to walk to shops, restaurants and across the d
Very comfortable condo in an extremely convenient location. Excellent communication with owners. The unit itself was very quiet, but keep in mind that there's a busy road nearby, so there is road noise while sitting on the lanai during the day. We walked to Lavalava one evening for a very nice meal. Easy walk to Coconut Mall and Long's Drug Store, Safeway is a 5 minute drive away (or less). The building apparently has laundry facilities, but it seemed a bit complicated with buying a card, etc., so we just used an excellent laundromat, also a 5 minute drive away, since we only had 1 load of laundry to do. The reception area is helpful and we were able to leave our luggage there the day we changed lodging. That would be helpful too for late flights.
I had a wonderful relaxing vacation.Really nice unit close to the pool. Did not swim at the nearby beach (thank you for the heads up) as it is dangerous due to lava rock.It is great for watching the waves and reading.I cook when I go on vacation, but not this time.I enjoyed a few breakfasts to the north at Walpoli restaurant and my dinners were great at the Coconut Market shops. Also tried Chicken in a Barrel.Longs drug store great for snacks and even wine & liquor.Enjoyed Hawaiian wine all week.I want to thank my hosts for excellent communication. They even provided me with good information pertaining to my swim attire at the pool. I am a life long swimmer and I wear "thong" style mens suits I had no problems at the pool and even got a compliment from 4 young ladies that liked my outfit.I am so happy with my nearly total tan.Hope to return someday as the fight is so long to/from Phoenix and then to Philadelphia
Well equipped, quiet, met all my needs. Thank you.
Great location with a short walk to the beaches, shopping and restaurants. A few confusing issues when first checked were quickly resolved by host. Be aware there is no dishwasher and pay washer/dryer are just down the hall. Condo is well furnished with no real issues with appliances, furniture, bathroom, etc. Definitely recommended.
We were very satisfied with our stay at Plantation Hale. We had a beach right across the street where we could walk in the mornings. We could walk to Coconut Grove for dinner or a little shopping or to Long Drugs. There was a pool so close to our location and we never had trouble finding a place to park. The condo itself was pretty much as described. I would have liked to have had a few extra towels, but we made do and appreciated the helpfulness and friendliness of all those we met and the cleanliness of the condo.
The place was exactly as described and very centrally located. We enjoyed watching the sunrises (short walk) and the place felt extremely safe/inviting.
