The house is a palace, with tile done by a superb craftsman all thru the house. The bedroom and bathroom doors are stained wood with stained glass. The art in the house is incredible....with paintings done by an elephant (no lie), and wood masks and sculptures. Several fruit trees on the property too. We picked and ate starfruits daily.

It had everything we needed. A bit farther out of Hilo than we expected, but that is our fault for not looking closer.

The host is great about communicating. I loved having the extra space for my family and it’s wonderful they have everything you need to take to the beach. We enjoyed having bikes to explore around the area. The only draw back, which is also a plus, was extra driving to get to places. I liked the quiet area.

The house provided a lot of space. We loved the many lanais and its proximity to the ocean. Being outside of Hilo, it was peaceful but close enough to easily get to Hilo or Volcanos National Park. Our host was very responsive to our questions.

Loved the lanais all over the house. The yard was incredible with all the sites and sounds - loved the frog melodies. There was nothing else we could have asked for. Being close to the shore with two cool places to watch the sunrise and waves was a bonus. Host was responsive.

We had wonderful experience at this property. The home was big and spacious, and overall very clean—plenty of room to relax and feel comfortable. One of our favorite parts of the stay was the beautiful fruit trees throughout the property. We also loved being just a few blocks away from a spectacular ocean view and sunrise spot. Everything went smoothly on our stay.

Just WOW! This is the best VRBO I have ever booked. The place was too great and was better than we thought it could be. Not only was the house magnificent, but the grounds were like paradise. The host communicated when necessary, but was never overbearing. The location was perfect, with beach cliffs just a short small and town and many attractions within a 30 minute drive. We are already talking about coming back.

A comfortable and welcoming accommodation with an absolutely fantastic garden, as its own little slice of paradise! The weather was hot and very humid, the fans provided helped but some AC would be most welcome.

This is a beautiful home sitting on a beautiful property. Very spacious, with plenty of room to spread out and relax. Wonderful porches and patio's to sit out and enjoy the day. With no AC, the house can get a little warm but cools off later in the evening. The house was nearly perfectly clean and the floors are beautiful; however, the floors need a thorough moping which I would image is due to the windows being open for airflow. We would certainly recommend this property for future stays and would stay here again ourselves.

We like to travel a lot and this was the best house so far. The house is amazing. Check-in was quick and easy. We were able to drop off our luggage before check in time which was very helpful. Bedrooms are very spacious. We were able to pick a lot of different fruits in the yard.

Awesome place to stay when in Hilo. Has everything you need to keep everyone entertained even when you are at the property. Billiards, dart board and basketball hoop kept the kids busy. Also, had bikes to ride to go to the beach nearby and tour the neighborhood. But the best thing about this place was that you can try the fruits from the trees in the backyard. Bananas, pineapples, strawberry guavas and passion fruits. Very delicious!Howard was a great host as he was very accommodating and answered all our questions and was very friendly when I went over to meet him. We would stay here again if we ever go back to Hilo.Mahalo plenty!

Beautiful house with plenty of space. Outdoor equipment (bikes, surfboards etc) available. The neighborhood was nice and an easy walk to the ocean, but a bit of a drive to get to a town for groceries and supplies. Good communication and suggestions from the host.

The place is located in a quiet and peaceful area. It is only about 20 minutes from Hilo. The place is amazingly beautiful and spacious. It is filled with arts the owner collecting from traveling many places in the world. The house is fully equipped for both short-term and long-term stay. The garden is beautiful with many fruit trees to admire. Highly recommend for travelers/visitors looking for quietness, peace, and nature beauty.

House was well kept and clean. Layout was great for us, beds were comfortable. The multiple patios were wonderful and the majority of our time at the house was spent at one. Loved having the bikes and would ride to Paradise Point in the mornings to catch sunrise. It really doesn’t get any better. So the caveat…no where in the current listing does it mention no AC. Mornings and evenings are fine. But if you’re there in the late afternoon, it’s uncomfortably warm in the house (if leaving house earlier in the day and closing sliding doors per owners directions).Yes, there’s some warning about bugs. We didn’t find them bad, and if you’ve ever lived in a hot humid location, it shouldn’t bother you. But if that’s a foreign concept to you, take warning.

Spacious, clean, furnished "home" located in quiet area. Host very responsive to inquiries and requests. Fully furnished with sports equipment. Property full of fauna that produces fruit (albeit we were there at low season) One drawback - house is located some time from Hilo (depending on traffic) so plan your excurstions accordingly

The property was stunning. The ocean is only a few minute walk which we all enjoyed after dinner. The view and ocean sounds from the lanai was wonderful anytime of the day. The Weber grill made it perfect for grilling dinner every night. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms in each bedroom were large. My wife likes to bird and there were no shortage of birds on the property. There are no negatives to say only positives. We truly enjoyed our stay and would choose to stay here again if we return to the big island. Thank you Howard for the wonderful hospitality.

This property was perfect!! Close enough to everything while keeping us out of the busy tourist areas. The home was clean and cozy. Howard was away for the holiday. But, left us with contact info and a binder full of his island favorites. We particularly appreciated the instructions left by him that took us to the Puna trail, which led us to a private(ish) beach. There, we got to view the sea turtles soaking up the sun. We loved staying here, and plan on returning again in there future! Mahalo Howard!!

We had such a wonderful time at this home! It was incredibly spacious, giving our whole family plenty of room to relax and enjoy ourselves. The place was spotless, and the attention to detail made it feel comfortable and inviting. The open layout allowed us to gather and spend quality time together, and we loved how close it was to all the beautiful spots in Hilo. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, spacious, and fun stay with family! family!!

House was great, plenty of room. Lots of fun things for the family, bikes, pool table, etc.. Nice to know host was close but didn't need anything. House is not far from the coast which is nice, bit of a drive to store, etc..Very quiet and peaceful, especially in the mornings on the big deck.

The positives: listing was accurate. Man-cave is renovated garage and has many activities and items to borrow for outdoor lifestyle. Serious considerations: No air conditioning (I should have confirmed before renting). Washer / dryer outside of home which added to bugs getting in house. There is a cockroach infestation in one of the upper bedrooms. Hundreds of them come in through bathroom light in ceiling at dusk. We had to close bathroom door and not use bathroom. This issue is not just living in Hawaii, this is a serious problem for the home. The hammock rope broke (very old and frayed) and my husband fell and hurt his hip when the rope snapped in use. Black mold in two ceiling areas in garage. Master bedroom is room off garage and was not clean (like it had not been fully dusted in a long time. Screens for doors and windows had tears, or did not set in tracks correctly when closing, which let more bugs in the house. Fire alarms disabled (one in bedroom was gone with wires hanging out of wall).

We had a tournament in Hilo so we decided to stay at another location close to Hilo since we’ve recently stayed in Hilo. The location was great! 2-3 minute mile ride to wonderful beach views. The house was big and spacious! Every room had its own private full bath and balcony! The amenities were great, from the game room to the snorkel gear to the bikes provided! There was a Sunday market no more than 8 minutes away that was great! All in all if I come back to the big island I’m staying here again.

Amazing property. Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to meet Howard, but he was around if we had needed him. A lot of love and hard work put into the house. A lot of fun adventuring around the yard looking for fruit. Zero complaints.

The property is stunning and well kept. Gorgeous artwork and the energy of the place is so calming. It was a perfect spot for our family after watching our son dance at Merrie Monarch. Fun to go on a bike ride and play darts while on property. We will be back when we have time to enjoy the Big Island. Mahalo Uncle Howard for sharing your gorgeous home.

This house was perfect for our family of 4. My kids enjoyed playing in the yard and looking for ripe fruit. We used all the fun amenities during our stay with family dart games, bike rides and pool games. The kitchen was very well stocked which made it great for cooking and eating dinner out on the deck. The house was very well kept and super clean and tidy. The drive to Hilo and volcano park was easy. Nice short bike ride to a beautiful ocean view and great whale watching spot. Icing on the cake was the little treats left for us by Howard. During our visit to Hawaii we stayed on both the Kona and Hilo side and this home blew us away and definitely made us feel like we were in paradise and would love to stay, which we did not get that same feeling from the place on the Kona side. 10/10 would recommend. Mahalo Howard!

We loved our stay at Howard's home. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host checked in and tried to help when there were internet issues on the island. There is a lot of living space and multiple couples or a larger family could comfortably stay at the house. The kitchen had most essentials for cooking. The hawaiian coffee and chocolates were a nice touch.

Our family of 6 stayed there for a week. Our main focus on the trip was exploring the nature so the location was perfect. Equal distance to both the national park and Mauna Kea, and being not so far from the airport was very ideal. Howard’s place was so comfortable that we decided to just enjoy the place playing pool and relaxing in the yard. Howard was so easy to communicate with too. Thank you Howard for such a nice place and some background story of the house!
