Barefoot Beach House is located directly across the street from Richardson Beach Park, Hilo's premier beach. The house was built in 1938 and was once the area's post office. It is now a beautifully updated and fully furnished cottage perfect for your dream vacation. The beach is so close you don't even have to put your shoes on to walk there!

Richardson Beach Park is Hilo's premier oceanic park, with fantastic snorkeling, fun surf, and great swimming. It has a rare black sand beach with a lifeguard tower. Honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles) and humuhumunukunukukapua'a (the state fish) can often be seen swimming in Richardson's waters. The shores of Richardson blend directly into a half-mile-long stretch of fantastic beach parks with beautiful bay views, nooks and crannies to explore, and sheltered picnic pavilions.

​A lovely mile walk (or drive) from Barefoot Beach House on Kalaniana'ole or the less busy Nene Street will take you to another one of Hilo's top beach parks, Carlsmith. Carlsmith is a great swimming beach with a sandy bottom, and honu are frequently seen swimming in the waters. Our home is only 5 miles from various grocery and box stores, as well as Hilo's Bayfront shopping district, where you will find the famous Hilo Farmer's Market, antique and souvenir shops, and incredible restaurants. Hilo International Airport is a simple 12-minute drive. Our home is an excellent base for exploring Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the waterfalls of the Hamakua Coast, and all the lush jungle parks on the windward side of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Barefoot Beach House is a welcoming three-bedroom, two-bathroom home great for families or small groups. The large, window-lined living and kitchen area has charming detail work, including a brick fireplace and coffered ceilings. It is a wonderful place for everyone to enjoy meals and hang out with the beautiful backdrop of the jungle and Richardson Beach Park out your windows. The lanai is the perfect spot for relaxing or checking out the surf. On the property, you will find a natural fish pond, various tropical fruit trees, and a nice grassy area for the kids to play on. The home's driveway can fit up to three cars. The house is single-floor living but has five steps up to the front door. Laundry machines and an array of beach toys are available for your use. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Such a wonderful home and an exquisite location to spend our vacation. The house has everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy our stay, was perfectly clean, and was so beautiful inside with lovely decorations. Across the street is the most amazing beach park. The snorkeling was so fun, the corals were lovely, and we even saw turtles! The black sand beach was a first for us, sand blue we want to see more.Definitely a wonderful experience. The hosts were very helpful and so friendly. We really cannot say enough about the home and our stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

The most thoughtful home! It was perfect for our family. It had everything you’d need (and likely would have forgotten on a trip). They had accessories for our 5 month old (bathtub, playpen, etc.). Our 4yo loved the beach right across the street and the pond. Safe yard & neighborhood. Would love to stay here again. Thank you Robert and Erinn!

A great home- perfect for our elders to stay in. Everyone really enjoyed the place and took daily swims across the street.
