The neighborhood
Hawaiian Paradise Park (also known as HPP) is located in the Puna District of East Hawaii, approximately 15 miles southeast of Hilo. This subdivision fronts State Highway 130 and stretches 4 miles to the Pacific Ocean and is 3 1/2 miles wide. The community is close to shopping, dining, and cultural activities in Hilo, Volcano, and Keaau. Of all the subdivisions in lower Puna, HPP is closest to Hilo, meaning shorter commute times to Hawaii’s second largest city – the business heart of east Hawaii.
Getting around
Best to have a rental car. A 4-wheel drive is not necessary to navigate the HPP area or majority of the sites to see here on the Big Island
Other things to note
We hope your stay with us brings some aloha to your life that will last a life-time. About our Ohana. Lori and I came to the Islands on vacation a few years back. Ever since then our dream was to move to one of the Islands. We officially made the Big Island (Hawaii) home. Our two 10 lb. fur babies live with us in the main house. Hawaii is about adventure, exploring, and most of all refreshing yourself. Aloha!!
SPECIAL NOTE:
If you are flying into Kona Airport (KOA), the drive is about one hour and thirty minutes. We recommend late evening arrivals stay the night on the Kona side and drive over during the daylight hours.

It’s a pretty property in a residential area. It’s very quiet other than the coqui frogs, which aren’t intrusive or loud and adds to the charm. Theres a lot of little touching details and hosts were kind and accommodating. True to their listing, they’re available as much or as little as one needs. The listing is accurate with regard to local wildlife, but if you’re familiar with Hawai’i, just keep food cleaned up as explained in the rules. My favorite part of this location was the warm rain - while the hosts had no control over this, the driveway being rock allowed for a sedan to get out of the driveway. The binder has good information, and directions are clear from the host even when gps wasn’t.
Clean, comfortable with a great host!
The place was very clean, even had lawn chairs and beach towels. Allan even let us know where to go to view the Blue Moon while we were there. He gave us tips where to snorkel , shop for groceries and sent us info on how to get to Hilo the back roads, after school had started and the roads got busy in the mornings. He sent me places to grocery shop and get gas. Would stay again if the opportunity arises. Worked out great.
Quiet and breezy. There is a/c but we didn't need to run it and could hear the birds chirping most of the day. Plenty of room for two people with a standard sized refrigerator, king bed, good storage for clothes, etc. We stayed here a few years ago when it first became a rental, and the years and guests haven't been kind to the property. Everything is showing wear and tear. The lanai is private and gets a good breeze but the wicker furniture is starting to split in several places. Towels are scratchy and it would have been nice to have more than one a piece. The chain link gate has to be locked most of the time, using a combo and a key in the lock box. It is impossible to see the whole setup in the dark, even with the car's lights shining on the gate. I do not like to report negatively on a property because I know how hard most owners work to keep their places in good shape. I remember from our last visit the the owner was very attentive, so that is a plus.
This place is awesome. We got in late, and Alan still met us with the gate open and was very welcoming. Property has an ac, but we didn't need it because there's always a nice breeze. You can hear the ocean from the property at night. Alan has thought of the little things like the charging ports on both sides of the bed that have USB, USB C, and a normal outlet. Alan is responsive to all questions, and has plenty of local recommendations.
Alan was a fantastic host, and the guest house was everything we needed: very clean, comfy king bed, AC, lovely lanai. Alan’s helpful suggestions on restaurants & sites were so helpful, and him being on site & welcoming us in person was perfect after a long day of travel.
Everything was great, we loved sitting out on the patio in the early morning drinking coffee and late at night stargazing. It was a short distance to bring the provided beach chairs to sit on the cliffs by the ocean. We had everything we needed. Alan was very helpful for check in. Overall, we had a great stay. I would recommend staying here for future visits.
This is a really nice rental to be private and secure. The water was softened! The hosts were really nice and very helpful with suggestions and directions etc. I wish we had one more day there at least.
This was perfect for our stay on the Big Island. We were able to see many different things and this was a great home base for us. Alan greeted us personally when we arrived and provided many great suggestions of places to visit while we were there. If we're visiting the area again, we will definitely book here!
Outdated Mattress caused my back pain, no lock inside.
Our host could not have been more accommodating and helpful upon our evening arrival. He greeted us personally as it was dark by the time we flew in. The house is clean, sweetly decorated and the patio is perfect for relaxing and listening to the night sounds. We awoke to find out that we were a short car ride away from so many beautiful ocean areas, such a great surprise! Wish we had stayed longer and would absolutely love to return. Thank You for the great vibes :)
Ten minutes walk from beautiful beach. Close to amazing hikes and volcano park. Host had great recommendations. Would definitely stay again.
Perfect place to stay. Good folks, Didnt want to leave. Loved the big walk in shower.
This property is clean, quiet, cute and comfortable. It is a little out of the way but worth it. It's well situated to explore the Hilo area. The host Alan is friendly and very helpful.
The place was very comfortable and convenient to stay. The host was very kind and was willing to fix our check in and check out time based on our convenience. The host also was willing to help if we needed anything in the house like extra fans. Since the place was between the volcano national park and the beach while also being close to a shopping center, it was easy to get by. The house does not have air conditioning but it had a high ceiling and fans. The place is new so it was very simple and clean. We also like that there was a very strong wi-fi signal and how the place is very affordable in Big Island compared to other hotels.
