Ainamalu - Protected Land - is a newer resort area on the big island. This is a luxurious and unique oasis: it is away from the tourist crowds, yet only minutes from great restaurants, grocery stores and some of the best beaches in the world.
Ainamalu Memories is a private and personalized experience designed to make lasting memories for families and friends. Five bedrooms and four bathrooms gives you the freedom to enjoy time together making meals together, playing in the pool, or having conversations in the hot tub. Or you can recharge with private downtime having Kona coffee watching the sunrise over unobstructed views of Mauna Kea, relaxing in your own room or while working out in a gym with a Peloton, treadmill and Bowflex dumbbells. It’s the best of resort living and the best of a private residence, all within your reach.
Our home has the highest and most ratings of any home in Ainamalu. Our bright and sunny interior features stunning furnishings and décor that draw you in for comfortable conversation, while the spacious lanai and pool invite you to relax, sun, and swim outside. Watch movies together on our 70 inch TV. The gourmet kitchen – complete with island, gas range, hood, and French door refrigerator – is perfect for family meals. “The kitchen has every gadget you need. The kitchen pans and utensils were top quality, not what you usually get with rentals.” Coffee lovers get a free bag of whole beans from #1 rated Big Island Coffee Roasters with their choice of drip coffee, Keurig and Nespresso.
Do laps in the full-size pool, heated during the day free of charge. Stargaze while soaking in the bubbling hot tub, or push a button for vibrant pool lights. “The pool/hot tub combination provided hours of fun and relaxation for all of us.” The garage is full of beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards and other pool toys for you to drive 10 minutes to world class beaches like Hapuna, Beach 49 or Mauna Kea and then chill in the pool after.
Spa Heating: It is on an “egg timer” and runs for a predetermined amount of time. If it shuts off, you need to turn it on again. Our heaters are heat pumps, and they take longer to heat than a gas heater. It will start to get warm about 30-45 minutes after it is initially turned on. The Spa can be turned on at any time.
Pool Heating: The pool only heats when the pool filters are running 9am - 5pm. Please note, on cloudier and windier days, it can take the pool a long time to heat up. This means, the pool heat will cool overnight and start heating again in the morning.
We also offer unique services that no one else offers. We have preferred vendors for massages in home and private chefs we love that our renters get special offers. Our renters get access to our Substack and AI concierge trained on 50+ simple tips that make a big difference in your big island vacation. You can chat, text or even call and talk to the AI concierge as you plan and enjoy your trip.
Within the spacious interior, you’ll find the Master Retreat only steps from the pool, spa, and lounging area. This luxurious suite is complete with a double vanity, marble shower, and outdoor lava rock changing area.
A second bedroom enjoys its own private entrance at the front of the house. A third bedroom gains its own direct access to the lanai, pool, and peak views, as well as its own changing alcove. Along with a fourth bedroom within the home, family or friends can have the added privacy of the Ohana suite - a fifth bedroom with its own entrance, bath, and seating area. With its private access from the driveway and its own AC, this space offers both seclusion and a special peek of the ocean across the lava field.

A fabulous house and outdoor setting with pool and hot tub! Well equipped! Management was very helpful and responsive. Good location for shopping and access to nearby beaches. The five bedrooms (two with twin beds) worked out perfectly for all of us… parents, kids, grandkids all loved it!

The property was as described. It was generously stocked with toiletries, beach towels, beach and pool amenities. Enough beach chairs and umbrellas , several boogie boards, snorkeling gear. The house was perfect for our family of 10! Several beaches nearby enjoyed by the family. We loved the pool and the sunrises from the lanai! We were able to really enjoy family time on the home. It was so relaxing! Best family vacation ever! Didn't take any pictures of the house because they match those provided in the description. The big open area was perfect for family games!

We had a perfect stay here. It’s in a standalone development but nearby to a resort area with markets, shops, and restaurants. It was enjoyable to hang out at the house/pool and there are also a lot of great beaches within a 15 minute radius. We ended up exploring most of the island and it was an ideal base to visit Kona, Waimea, Hilo, and even a manageable day trip to Volcanoes National Park. Hosts were friendly and responsive but not intrusive. Would love to come back again someday soon.

This home was truly a hub for making the best memories. We had never been to Hawaii so we found the location to be perfect, close to so many beaches and within a drive to many adventures. The house was the most stocked home I’ve ever stayed in, with everything labeled and easy to find. Our kids loved the pool, and we loved having the gym in the garage. Even beach accessories were provided! This was truly a gem of a home and made for SO many family memories, we hope to return!
What a wonderful experience! Plenty of room for our blended family of 9. The location and views were incredible, close to wonderful beaches and easy access to anywhere on the island. Would definitely recommend this place and stay there again.

The overall stay was excellent. We enjoyed the back yard pool and bbq. The rooms provided plenty of space and bathrooms. Easy access from main highway and close to golf and shopping. Pictures were very accurate.

Mike , the manager had sent our emails out so everything was up and ready to begin our vaca the minute we got to the property . The Obama suite is a separate area from Rey of house and the oldest daughter and her husband and little one slept there , we had a Lucious master suite that opened to the pool and our Youngers and her family had the junior suite the kids all had their rooms and we a were up and ready for the first evening . The pool and spa were used 10 hours a day , the beaches and king shops and queen market were body a few minutes for groceries . The golf course was walkable , the area sunrise and sunset la were always favourite parts of our days . The few quarries we had , Mike was instantly responsive. We had a very late flight 1130 pm , then a delay so after midnight , after discussing with Mike a possible late check out , he gave us all evening until we needed to head to airport , giving us the nap times and supper with all of us and stress free of 12 hours of wondering g what to do . Mike is amazing , and so so much appreciated . The property , best ever close to everything away from bustle and close t beaches . I would so do this property again , the first family vaca with all the grandbabies was a hit and hope to someday return ...... I rate this a 10 out of ten
Pineapple Paradise, Chef’s dream kitchen, fully loaded, great house for couples with young children. Need a rental car when staying at this property, in a new subdivision, hard to find at night. The beaches are close, they provide beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels. We were having issues with the Hot Tub working properly, but other than that we had a wonderful stay
