One of the best-known steakhouses in Hawaii, Hy's is located at the Waikiki Park Heights Hotel. This restaurant has won many awards for its superb food since it opened in 1976. While the cuisine at Hy's is described as "continental," the décor and menu indicate the influence of many different countries/continents - Europe, America, Hawaii and the Pacific region. With its unique collection of books and artwork, the Main Room has the look and feel of a library that might well be found in an old English Mansion. As well as featuring great food, Hy's offers an extensive wine list with emphasis on red wine. The list showcases some exquisite choices that have been imported from many of the world's most respected vineyards.
A well-established fine dining fixture in Honolulu and set in unique surroundings, Hy's Steak House endeavors to offer its patrons the finest USDA-quality prime beef, a tranquil atmosphere and an all-round five star dining experience. The restaurant is especially famed for its kiawe broiled steaks. Native to Hawaii, kiawe is a type of fragrant hardwood that burns at very intense, even temperatures, creating a cooking process that is believed to retain existing tenderness and add perfect flavour to beef. As well as steak, Hy's serve a selection of delicious seafood and a host of other favorites. The restaurant is also well-known for its table-side food preparation. Caesar Salad, Warm Spinach Salad and a number of flambé dishes, such as Cherries Jubilee and Bananas Foster, are all prepared table-side. And, of course, a selection of fine wines is available to accompany every meal.
The relaxed atmosphere and delicious cuisine at Hy's Steak House makes this the perfect place for a romantic evening out. The ambience is further enhanced each night with live music performances from top musicians. Hy's is open every day - Monday through to Friday from 6.00pm to 10.00pm - and on Saturdays and Sundays from 5.30pm to 10.00pm. A newly-renovated private dining room capable of seating up to 25 people has recently been opened. This enables the venue to cater for private parties and other functions. Advance reservations are recommended and smart attire - collared shirts, etc - are required.
