Does somebody know what is the name of this Hawaiian flower? I have always thought it was heliconia but I guess I was wrong. Blush

I don't know the name of this flower but I know it's a bottlebrush. This would be a question that I would pose to Mauibeachbum and hope that he will notice this thread the next time he logs back in. Angry

This happens to be very prolific ginger. I grows in many shapes and colors but this is the familiar Red Ginger.
I am not certain if is an edible source of ginger that we use as a spice.

I eat a lot of southeast asian foods and you'll find Ginger mixed in most of them and I just love it. I knew that Rich could answer this all important question about this native Hawaiian flower,good job!

Yeh, they are one of my favorite flower to photograph because of their large and unique bloosom.
