School Questions
Aloha!

We are a family of 4, with 2 girls ages 12 and 11 hoping to move to Maui next year. School is my most concern. I read that public school is very bad, is Kihei Charter School any better? I can't find much rating about Kihei Charter School, can someone tell me more about this? Is it free and is their standard like the mainland public school? Also what is the best private school in Maui and how much do they cost?

Which cities are best to live with children? Kahului, Kihei, Wailuku, Lahaina, Paia, Makawao?

Thank you very much in advance for your inputs.

RE: School Questions
Yes, Hawaii's public schools don't have a great reputation. But it really depends on the school. There are many bad ones, but also a few good ones. Here is a link to a Hawaii public school rating chart where the public schools were graded based on several factors (it lists schools on all islands):

Kihei Charter School is a public school, so it's free. Here is more info about Kihei Public Charter School with ratings and reviews:

Regarding Maui private schools, one of the main ones is Seabury Hall School. Tuition is currently $18,950 per year (grades 6-12), see here http://www.seaburyhall.org/page.cfm?p=662

Another good Maui private school is Maui Preparatory Academy. Tuition is currently 16,430 per year (grades 6-8), see here http://www.mauiprep.org/main/admissions/...-and-fees/
