Resident Card
Hello. My wife and I are Canadian citizens and have purchased a condo in Oahu. We are have heard many different stories of people applying for Hawaiian resident cards so Kama'aina rates can apply. We will be spend approx. 2-3 months a year on the island and would like to take advantage of the local rates (especially for golf). If any one has some tips or ideas it would be appreciated.

RE: Resident Card
I think that foreign citizens can only apply for a Hawaii State ID card if they fulfill certain criteria. One of them is you have to either have a green card or some type of temporary visa. If you only spend 2-3 months in Hawaii as a visitor and don't have U.S. citizenship, you won't be able to obtain a Hawaii resident card. Kama'aina rates apply for people who live in Hawaii (whose principal address is in Hawaii). Hope this info helps!
