Purchasing a property with no US citizenship
Hi guys, wondering if I could grab an answer to my question Smile

My partner and I are Australians, currently living in Sydney. We just flew in from Oahu yesterday and my oh my, are we missing it already.
We had this thought of ' what the chances of buying a place over there?'

I thought into it alot ( as i tend to overthink everything) and thats how i ended up finding this site.

We would stay living and working here for the most part, but to answer my question, is it possible to do such a thing ? to not have any ties with America at all and still purchase a property in Hawaii?

Dont get me wrong, we'd love to live/work there, but for now our chosen careers definitely pay better where we currently are. We would rent the place out for most of the year (via air Bnb ) then go stay there once a year i guess.

Cheers for the help guys !

Char

RE: Purchasing a property with no US citizenship
Aloha Char and welcome to our forum! I'm not entirely familiar with how this process would work, but I know that there are many foreigners who have successfully purchased a home or condo (vacation rental) in the U.S. (including Hawaii). Especially if you're paying cash, this should be a straightforward process. You should research more about taxes though. Here is a general article explaining the buying process: http://www.zillow.com/intl/en/foreign-buyers-guide/
And here is more info about taxes:
