Moving to Kapaa, Kauai -- scared
Hi everyone,
I am moving to Kapaa in about 3 weeks. I have a college degree and I'm looking for work. Can someone please tell me what to expect? Are there any connections I can make with people who are on this board that may help with a job and a place to live? I know that is being kinda upfront, but I am worried that I may not be able to make it there. But I only had enough money to make a flight to the island. I plan on eating small meals until I find a job. Any help would be appreciated. God Bless |

RE: Moving to Kapaa, Kauai -- scared
Generally speaking, it's a good idea to have at least 6 months of living expenses in an emergency savings account, and that's a good idea whether you are moving or not. As you probably already know, Hawaii is quite expensive (rents are high and salaries are typically lower compared to similar jobs on the mainland). You mentioned you have a college degree, but didn't specify in what. When it comes to jobs and finding work in Hawaii, Oahu is the island where you would have an easier time, just because most jobs are on Oahu (it has a much larger population and more variety of jobs). Good luck with your move!
