King Kamehameha Day Celebrations this weekend
King Kamehameha Day is this coming Friday, June 10, 2011, and as each year there are many celebrations and events happening on all Hawaiian islands. A popular event is the Lei Draping Ceremony in front of Ali’iolani Hale in downtown Honolulu on Friday, June 10, 2011. Flower lei makers will be there early in the morning already making beautiful leis and decorating King Kamehameha Statue. On Saturday, June 11, 2011, there will be a floral parade beginning at 9 am at King & Richards and ending at Kapiolani Park in Waikiki. The parade is followed by the King Kamehameha Celebration Ho’olaule’a at Kapiolani Park.

Seeing so many Lei's on King Kamehameha is such a sight. I love the traditions, and the love in the Hawaiian culture!

Yes, it's a beautiful and colorful event. Imagine how long it must take to make a single lei! Many skilled hands are needed for this event.
