Hawaiian Homesteader??

I know, I am going to school so I can have the $$ to move to Hawaii, but I am hoping to homestead quite a bit once I get there. My dream is Maui or Kauai, but I am understanding the Big Island is the better option for homesteaders...is this true? Would love to hear from any homesteaders out there. I am vegetarian, but I do love dairy and eggs- so is it best to live on TBI??? Share with me peeps!

Yes, I think the Big Island is the best Hawaiian island for homesteading. You'll most likely find the most homesteading options there. I don't have any experience myself. But if you check craigslist, you might be able to find a great homesteading opportunity once you're ready to move.
