The Kauai Waterfalls and Local Grinds is the perfect mix of stunning natural sites, history, local food tasting, and a dash of humor. We call it short & sweet! This not a food tour but rather a wonderful melange of visiting scenic sites on the east side of Kauai and tasting various foods along the way.
Take the day off from driving while our expert guides show you the magic of our island unfold every step of the way. We will visit waterfalls, archeological zones, indulge in the local cuisine, and more.
This is a mother and daughter owned business with over 17 years of guiding experience on island. Your purchases on this tour support locally owned mom and pop shops.
Our Groups are small and intimate, and our vehicles are comfortable and air conditioned.

Itinerary
Our first stop will be at a local bakery to set the mood right from the start. (25 mins)
This is no ordinary pond, it is a jurassic size pond built in ancient times by the first inhabitants of Hawaii, the people from the Marquesas Islands. Marvel at the beautiful surroundings as we drive you through the Kipu Kai area. Learn about the fascinating legend of the Menehunes, the archeological and cultural importance of the pond. Many Hollywood movies have been filmed in this area. We will stop in two areas to take many pictures. (45 mins)
Last but not least is time to visit one more waterfall, because you can't never have enough waterfalls. Iconic Wailua Falls was featured on the opening scene of the Fantasy Island Tv show. You will have plenty of time for pictures. The perfect closure for a tour. (30 mins)
Time to take a stroll down the path by the beautiful Lydgate Beach Park, where you can soak your feet in the famous Morgan Ponds, learn about the ancient temple of worship were Hawaiians greeted the rising sun daily, the city of refuge, and more. This is a leisure walk for all age groups. you will have many picture opportunities. (40 mins)
At this stop you will walk to visit two sites, Opaekaa Falls and the Wailua River lookout, located in Wailua town where the Hawaiian royalty lived in ancient times. Beautiful views and many picture ops await for you here. (30 mins)
Drive through the backcountry of Wailua Homesteads on our way to Kapaa town. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Waialeale, Kauai's tallest mountain, and the center of the island. Get to see where locals live.
We make eating fun and that's why for lunch we visit Kapaa town, where you will have many choices from food trucks and smoothie bars to restaurants. Your purchase will be supporting local mom and pop shops. (60 mins)
In Kapaa town we will visit the tasting room of Kauai's premier chocolatier, Lydgate Farms. You will have an opportunity to sample chocolate crafted on island and from Kauai grown cocoa beans. Every bite will tantalize your senses and leave you wanting more. (25 mins)
Last but not least, we will take you on a lovely drive on Kapaas bypass road. Enjoy the views of our famous Sleeping Giant Mountain, while we share the story of this mythical man who saved the day for the common people in ancient times. (10 mins)

- There are two pick up locations: one in Kapaa town and one in Lihue. We will send you a text message the day before the tour with pick up details and tour info. Choose the location closer to you on Google maps. Make sure to read and reply to our message the day before your tour.
- WEIGHT LIMITATION: Due to seating dimensions, comfort, and vehicle wear limitations, guests exceeding 260 lbs must book a private tour. This policy is strictly enforced. Reservations not complying with this policy may be canceled or denied boarding without refund. Call us if you have any questions.
- If you are coming via ship and the ship doesn’t dock due to weather or other unforeseen events, We will honor a 50% refund or a full credit to be used within 12 months.
