Located just outside of
Waikiki, the The Ilikai Hotel is the ideal
place to stay if you like shopping at a big mall or plan to go to
the Hawaii Convention Center, which are both just a short walk away.
Lots of visitors from Asia choose this hotel, probably because the
management does a good job of providing a multilingual staff. The
The Ilikai Hotel is also convenient if you plan to drive a lot
because you're on the freeway quicker than from Waikiki. But if
you'd like to be close to Waikiki Beach and all the restaurants and
shops there, we don't recommend this place. It's about a 30-minute
walk into central Waikiki or a 10-minute ride on the City Bus.
However, the Ala Moana Beach Park is close to the hotel and has good
swimming conditions and picnic areas.
The The Ilikai Hotel has 2 towers - the 10-story Kona and the
30-story Waikiki. Rooms are medium-sized and moderately priced.
Suites are more expensive. Most rooms come with 2 double beds. The
Torch Ginger rooms at the top 7 floors have larger beds and rooms in
the more affordable Kona Tower have no balconies. The views of the
city from the upper floors are spectacular.
With its 1,152 units, the The Ilikai Hotel seems like a metropolis.
It also boasts 5 restaurants, 10 conference rooms, an outdoor pool
on the 3rd floor, a fitness room and coin-operated laundry services.
The Rumours Night Club has a state-of-the-art electronic disco
system and offers free admission before 8 p.m. All in all, the hotel
is a favorite among business travelers, convention attendees and
shoppers.
