One of the pioneers of Hawaiian reggae; music “Jawaiian” style,
Bruddah Waltah still gets crowds on their feet. When he appeared on
stage at the 2005 Radio KCCN FM 100 Birthday Bash at the Waikiki
Shell, cheers broke out and the audience that had been fairly
relaxed until then, got into motion.
It was his first live concert in Hawaii in more than five years and
he did not even rehearse. Some people just have it and that makes
Bruddah Waltah a true legend! Since the late 1980s, Bruddah Waltah
has left his fingerprint on island music and has influenced many
performers and bands until today.
Bruddah Waltah and his wife live close to Portland, Oregon, where he
is continuing to spread the Aloha and bring some island sunshine
into the rainy days of the Pacific Northwest. Bruddah Waltah has
recorded five albums and one of his signature songs is “Sweet Lady
of Waiahole.”
