Makena Landing Beach Park at a Glance
Makena Landing Beach Park is located in Makena, a small
town of which many people say it is Maui untamed. There
are some really nice beaches in this area. Makena Landing
Beach is bordered by a small beach park.
The shoreline is mostly rocky with little sand. South of
the landing are two small pockets of white sand, which are
popular picnicking spots. The ocean bottom here slopes gently,
making it a good swimming beach for children and novice
swimmers.
In 1999, a storm hit this beach and the runoff caused unusually
cloudy water conditions, which destroyed the coral reef.
So if you want to go snorkeling or diving, you may want
to look for another beach.
Makena Landing Beach Park is the first beach along Makena
Road. There are no facilities or lifeguards here.

be very dangerous. Never turn your back against the waves and watch out for underwater
currents and always check the surf conditions. Pay attention to signs posted on
the beach. If you are not sure about the conditions, ask the lifeguards (if any
