Hotel Lanai at a Glance
Hotel Lanai is located in the heart of Lanai City, surrounded by towering Cook island pines. The hotel was built in 1923 by James Dole, Hawaii’s pineapple king, as lodging for Dole Plantation executives. It was the first and only hotel on the island until 1990.
There are 11 guest rooms and a restaurant (Lanai City Grille) and Opal’s, a boutique gallery featuring a variety of locally-made jewelry and artwork.
Guest rooms have a plantation-style décor. Each room has a flair of its own, with distinct furnishings, Hawaiian quilts, hardwood floors, ceiling fans, a private bathroom with shower and pedestal sinks. Four of the rooms have lanais and may be requested. Complimentary continental breakfast is self-served in the hotel lobby from 6:30 am to 9:30 am.
