Also known as the “Pineapple Isle,” Lanai is not loaded
with campsites. In fact, there is only one legal place
to camp on the entire island. It's at
Hulopoe Beach
Park, which is owned by Castle and Cooke Resorts.
The park is located about 7 miles from Lanai City. Be
sure to bring everything you need because you won't find
any stores close by. There is also no bus service to the
campground, so you will have to rent a car.
Hulopoe has six campsites. Each one can accommodate up
to six people. You’ll need a permit to camp here. To get
it, contact Castle and Cooke Resorts, which are located
in Lanai City at (808) 565-2970. There's a $5
registration fee plus a charge of $5 per person per
night.
It is recommended to reserve your spot at least two to
three weeks in advance, especially during the peak
season in summer and around Christmas. The maximum
length of stay is three nights.
